MN director appointed as director of the Good Law Project

Link to Companies House

I'm wondering what the implications of this are?

This person is/was (?) a "Management/strategy consultant" who "advised the Founder & CEO on strategy and organisation".

Was this director involved in suggesting the FWR board should be split as part of the 'strategy advice'? Was this 'strategy advice' in any way linked to discussions or negotiations to sign on as a director of the Good Law Project? Was MN fully aware of the intention of a director to take on another directorship that I'd struggle to describe as benign or neutral, given the USP here is targeted litigation & campaigning (including attacking the charitable status of an LGB organisation)? What now for women who have opinions that men disagree with?

If there's a case brewing to sue MN, I think this could prove to be an 'interesting' move.

Ah so this explains the pandering then.

Got it.

AfternoonToffee · 23/08/2021 10:24

Justin has many fingers in many pies by the looks of it, but it does seem to be filling in some of the gaps.

SpringCrocus · 23/08/2021 10:38

Gosh.

Shedbuilder · 23/08/2021 10:51

I don't do conspiracy theories but this is beginning to look extremely suspicious. We now know how a tiny number of people strategised to quietly place people in positions where they could have invisible influence, guided by Denton's and the like, and look, here it is happening in front of us. Major conflict of interest that could be very damaging to MN.

I wonder how many genuine complaints or requests from regular MN posters there were to split the board? Justine, can you let us know?

My thoughts exactly

A year or so ago I'd have shrugged this off. But given recent events, and having seen what's happening in other organisations, I'm now thinking, 'Hmm'.
Nice work, vipers.

Blimey. 🤔

WineAcademy · 23/08/2021 13:28

Wasn't there rumblings a while back about MN being sold off? Splitting apart FWR may have been an effort to make it more financially viable.

AlfonsoTheMango · 23/08/2021 13:52

I don't remember that but I have a vague recollection of Justine wanting to buy out other shareholders.

Paging Baroness Nicholson's office...

Yes there was some speculation on another thread about the FWR changes. As i said there, I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop... ie, "something" to happen. Good spot OP.

I got a hint about this via Twitter. It's all very odd. I really don't see Justine as someone who would kowtow to a damaging ideology. Her basic premise for Mumsnet was supporting mums, aka women. She still posts here from time to time.

So, either she didn't know; in which case, what is she going to do about it?

Or, she did know; in which case, what the heck is going on?

Bryonyshcmyony · 23/08/2021 23:52

What low carb thing?

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 24/08/2021 00:01

I don’t know how to screenshot, I’m sorry. Please can someone either tell me how or make sure these posts are all recorded?

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 24/08/2021 00:08

I've just done a PDF print-to-save of the whole thread. Just in case...

The 'Good' Law Project are very , ahem, proactive in their public relations?

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 24/08/2021 07:52

Well, I reported & had an acknowledgment from MNHQ so hopefully Justine will come & respond.

Beery, how to screenshot depends on what device you’re using - you’d be best searching screenshot plus whatever you’re on.

Did Justine go to Oxford? If so, they may have met there.

@Scrambledbeans

Interestingly he is also a director of a company that I have seen promoted by other posters on the low carb boot camp threads..
@Scrambledbeans and @Bryonyshcmyony that company (Ways of Eating) folded a few years ago. It was a diet and weight loss program and app so relevant to the Mumsnet Low Carb Bootcamp for people that wanted additional support.

Placemarking

Ghislainedefeligonde · 24/08/2021 09:46

It might also help explain why some extremely sensible and knowledgeable posters such as lang were banned…

Roystonv · 24/08/2021 09:55

Not intelligent enough to help/investigate good heavens that's a shock, feels like we are some sort of experiment for info gathering.

Bordois · 24/08/2021 14:12

I'm sure its just a massive coincidence, nothing to see here...
