Will Hubbard make people think?

I'm not so sure. Certainly doesn't seem to be the case with DW or MIL. I knew DW was Be Kind, but didn't expect my MIL to support males in women's sports.

Words need to mean something clear 'woman', 'biological'

NiceGerbil · 03/08/2021 16:44

Wow.

Well that was pretty clear.

NiceGerbil · 03/08/2021 16:45

And they must have agreed before to do that.

NiceGerbil · 03/08/2021 16:47

Sorry the clip of the winners being interviewed

BrozTito · 03/08/2021 16:51

I tend to ask people that if they believe men can ID as women, is Rachel Dolezal black and right to believe she faces the same oppression as a white woman who claims shes black. Thats tipped a few over the edge

BessieWallisWarfield · 03/08/2021 16:58

That clip is quite something. In a sane world it would feature in all the coverage.

What a shame that they are women and nobody cares what they think.

BlaydonRaces · 03/08/2021 17:01

It feels like a T-shirt project in the making:

"Men in women's sports?
No thank you"

"Rapists in women's prisons?
No thank you"

"Men in women's changing rooms?
No thank you"

Press conference with the Winners - these are the strong, brave women we should be proud of. Their class and dignity from 1m55s is awe inspiring.

TonyThreePies · 03/08/2021 17:10

So Lauren is now retiring.

FindTheTruth · 03/08/2021 17:11

@BlaydonRaces

2 minute clip of the medal winners press conference:

The contrast between the respect that Emily Campbell has for her training partner and fellow medallist Sarah Robles, and Robles' reply to the LH question, could not be more plain.

Well done all 3 for their composure (and for their brilliant performances!)

Oh wow!! 👏❤️

Having seen the clip, I now understand this 😂
BlaydonRaces · 03/08/2021 17:13

Oops sorry, my fault for not giving context Smile

TheWeeDonkey · 03/08/2021 17:14

@Mrsjamin

The trouble is Hubbard's performance won't really get rid of anyone's confirmation bias.
Just watched on YouTube. I can only assume LH turned up to take the piss, which is even more infuriating that women lost out to a chancer who's only goal was to open the door to more TW in women's sports and therefore destroy women's sports.
BlaydonRaces · 03/08/2021 17:15

From that BBC clip:
"She's had a huge impact on the sport"

No thank you!

Ghosttile · 03/08/2021 17:18

I think the mixed swimming relay is the best hope for getting through to people. The legs where you had women vs men.

TobysGreatAunt · 03/08/2021 17:25

Loving that clip

NO THANK YOU !

Fucking brilliant Grin
Freespeecher · 03/08/2021 18:36

Unfortunately I think LH played it very well. Turn up and compete to make a point, don't make the mistake of getting anywhere near the podium, make a heart sign on your way out to rapturous applause (from the media at least).

Find it hard to believe any athlete would willingly chuck the chance of a medal but maybe LH saw it as a 'greater good' thing.

littlbrowndog · 03/08/2021 18:43

No thank you

LastSummerHere · 03/08/2021 18:50

Perfection. More dignity in their fingernails than that Hubbard disgrace and the IOC put together.

NiceGerbil · 03/08/2021 18:55

They went as far as they could without getting into huge trouble.

It was still v brave.

They must have discussed and agreed beforehand.

ScreamingMeMe · 03/08/2021 19:03

to rapturous applause (from the media at least).

Yes, it's quite clear that the media has failed to guage public opinion; and now, the opinion of the other competitors. Isn't that like, part of their job?

Freespeecher · 03/08/2021 19:21

ScreamingMeMe
Looks more and more like they see their job as telling the public what their opinion should be.

Definitely. That's what happens when women talk to each other - that's why they try to stop us Grin
