Green Party Elections - Candidates who know what sex is

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 21/07/2021 18:53

For any of you eligible to vote in the upcoming GP elections I've been passed a list of recommended candidates from a trustworthy source.

It's important to vote for only one candidate then add RON to that candidate's name. This means Re-open Nominations so stops a vote inadvertently going to the 2nd nominee once proportional representation is applied.

GC candidates to support are:

Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator - Rashid Nix and Dzaier Neil (jobsharing)

Internal Communications Co-ordinator - Zoe Hatch

Local Party Support Co-ordinator - Taymar Pitman

Publications Co-ordinator - Julia Lagoutte

Don't forget to put RON after you vote and feel free to share this list with other GP members.

When are the elections?

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 21/07/2021 19:56

2nd to 31st August I believe.

Thanks! Can certainly vouch for Taymar Smile

Evidencebased · 21/07/2021 20:28

Thank you.

NotAnotherFeckingMuftiDay · 22/07/2021 07:31

Thank you!

OhHolyJesus · 22/07/2021 09:25

Julia would also be a fantastic choice for that role.

I'll sign up as a member again, if they'll have me!

SpringCrocus · 22/07/2021 16:49

Can vouch for Zoe!

TooNoisyTooLoud · 22/07/2021 17:13

I don't think there are any GC candidates for Equality and Diversity Coordinator

LibbyOTV · 22/07/2021 18:12

Hi - as someone who's quite involved in GP politics and knows a lot of these people, I wouldn't honestly say these candidates are all GC: what they have in common is that they won't stand for the intolerance and abuse of women who raise the GC perspective. Sadly in the current climate, tagging all these people as GC (when in truth not all of them would recognise that description of themselves) is likely to open them up to abuse and bullying themselves - plus more importantly it's not entirely accurate IMO.

TooNoisyTooLoud · 22/07/2021 18:34

Maybe we could ask them all the Staniland question or ask them to define woman? Have the hustings happened yet?

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 22/07/2021 18:40

LibbyOTV apologies for using the term GC, I should've probably said candidates who understand the need to protect the rights of biological women.

OP posts:
SpringCrocus · 22/07/2021 19:03

I agree with @LibbyOTV labelling these candidates as GC may backfire, and may be untrue. One can recognise that women need to retain single sex rights, without being GC.

WarriorN · 22/07/2021 20:35

That's a good point Libby; I don't like using the term GC to describe myself.

I'm a feminist and I recognise the need for sex based/female rights/ spaces.

GC has been framed as a "side" to be "against," when it's just recognising basic biological facts that most people hold.

NotTheFunKindOfFeminist · 22/07/2021 23:11

The Greens are a joke.

They are a single issue party. Yet I never hear them talking about the very issue (the environment) that they're said to care about.

At this stage, UKIP are more credible than the Greens. At least UKIP achieved their aims.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 24/07/2021 00:14

They're pretty much all a joke these days and I can't think of any party I'd vote for given the collective wokeness and capture they've all succumbed to. I've spoilt my ballot paper for the last 4 years on the issue of sex self-ID.

I'll never forgive the GP for their response to the Challoner debacle.

However, I think they are small enough to re think their policies without losing ££££. And if they do then maybe the other parties will follow.

I'm a pessimist normally but one has to have faith in changing the Overton window.

I found the SDP . I thought they were defunked but they're not. I don't know how their green policies compare because that hasn't been my priority in recent years but they're not woke and they haven't been captured. I joined. We have space to be heard there, I think.
WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 24/07/2021 01:04

Thanks BattyOrange, I'll look into them.

If you click on BattyOrange's link for the SDP and scroll right down to the bottom you will see a 'Make Votes Matter' logo in purple, white & green. Are they telling us something?

Doughnut100 · 24/07/2021 09:35

I wish someone had explained this to me when I was a member of the greens! Didn't really understand the voting system. Left last year after tw elected. Told them why. They didn't care.

Good riddance. Enjoy UKIP.

Who is 'they'? There is no 'they' in the party. It is highly divided. Lots of people in the party care about this. You are handing trans rights activists power by equating them with the party as a whole.

Anyway @WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe thank you for listening. Let's see what happens.

WarriorN · 25/07/2021 07:47

In the circles of feminists I've met since I had my children (many through bf groups) and then also via mn and social media who are all questioning the trans ideology, the majority are Green Party members. I know a small number who are Labour.

I was so surprised that so many are GP that, after also for a few years thinking that I did like many of their other policies eg education, it was the obvious decision to join.

Many local to me are academics and also working in science and medicine. More of those Gp members I know, since I've joined, have become more aware of this issue. And know their biology.

Especially since Emma was suspended from GPW and KB shut down the forum. Own goal.

They are indeed. I wish they'd field a candidate round here so I'd have someone to vote for. I joined after reading their policy on sex based rights. sdp.org.uk/policies/transgender-and-biological-sex-based-rights/

Doughnut100 · 01/08/2021 14:27

@LibbyOTV what I meant was that I went to quite a lot of trouble to let them know why I was leaving. The online form thingy didn't work so I emailed them and asked for acknowledgment of receipt. When it came there was no response other than essentially "ok bye". So it really seemed like "they" - ie the people who I had emailed who handle membership - didn't care why I had left. I'm aware the party is split about the issue. But from my experience it doesn't seem like they are taking note of how it is affecting subscription. Of course there could be stuff going on behind the scenes that I'm unaware of but all I can go by is my experience.

Doughnut100 · 01/08/2021 14:33

@PumpkinSpiceWoman "good riddance??" Why the aggression? Have I invited this somehow? Why would you think I would vote UKIP?
