Green Party Elections - Candidates who know what sex is

For any of you eligible to vote in the upcoming GP elections I've been passed a list of recommended candidates from a trustworthy source.

It's important to vote for only one candidate then add RON to that candidate's name. This means Re-open Nominations so stops a vote inadvertently going to the 2nd nominee once proportional representation is applied.

GC candidates to support are:

Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator - Rashid Nix and Dzaier Neil (jobsharing)

Internal Communications Co-ordinator - Zoe Hatch

Local Party Support Co-ordinator - Taymar Pitman

Publications Co-ordinator - Julia Lagoutte

Don't forget to put RON after you vote and feel free to share this list with other GP members.

^ whether you write in your last choice or not

pollypocketlover · 06/09/2021 19:01

@NecessaryScene

I voted Shahrar Ali in first place but I thought you had to give every candidate a number so I gave Tasmin Osmond the last number.

It doesn't make any difference you write in your last choice or not. They're never going to get your vote. They're your sixth choice either way, and you'll always be voting against them.

Thank goodness, thank you for clarifying.
TheGoogleMum · 07/09/2021 15:01

Results are in for executive vote (leadership is still open to voting!)
I didnt join in time for this one but it looks like most of the suggestions at the start of this thread got their positions, only one that didn't was Taymar Pitman.

I don't know enough about the candidates to know the implications of this, but overall probably good news?

GreenandCommon · 07/09/2021 15:05

GPEx election results in.

Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator

Winners are Rashid Nix and Dzaier Neil.
Finance Co-ordinator

Winner is Jon Nott.
Internal Communications Co-ordinator

Winner is Zoe Hatch.
Local Party Support Co-ordinator

Winner is Rosie Rawle.
Policy Development Co-ordinator

Winner is Vix Lowthion.
Publications Co-ordinator

Winner is Julia Lagoutte.
Policy Development Committee

Winners are Nick Cox, Edward Gildea, and Vix Lowthion.

So apart from Rosie Rawle getting in, it seems a good result.

KB and token XX sidekick did not manage to unseat Julia Lagoutte.

Poor KB will have to consider sueing again.

I wonder what the leadership candidates will make of that.

Results came via an email link and you have to be logged into the member's site to see it.

GreenandCommon · 07/09/2021 15:06

Sorry GoogleMum, I was tidying up my formatting so didn't see your post. I have to go out now so maybe you can spread the goodish news on the myriad of other threads.

Queenoftheashes · 07/09/2021 15:17

Hopefully this bodes well for the leadership Confused

This is SA debating if he's transphobic or not extremely well, specifically about the fact that sex data is important for appropriate treatment of trans people

Copied from elsewhere:

For those of you interested in statistics, here is the percentage breakdown for each position:

E&D coordinator: Rashid Nix & Zi Neil 66.4%, Ash Routh 32.3%, RON 1.3%.

Finance coordinator: Jon Nott 95.2%, RON 4.8%.

Internal comms coordinator: Zoe Hatch 59.2%, Alexander Sallons 39.7%, RON 1.1%.

Local party support coordinator: Duncan Kerr 16.1%, Daniel Laycock & Lyndsay McAteer 19.1%, Tay Pitman 17.4%, Rosie Rawle 47%, RON 0.4%.

Policy development coordinator: Vix Lowthion 94.3%, RON 5.7%.

Publications coordinator: Rachel Collinson & Kathryn Bristow 48%, Julia Lagoutte 50.9%, RON 1.1%.

The last one is interesting.

catzwhiskas · 08/09/2021 07:14

RON? Who or what is it?

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 08/09/2021 07:23

RON is Reopen Nominations - it’s what you put if you don’t like any of the remaining choices.

GreenandCommon · 08/09/2021 07:23

Re-open nominations. It's when you don't want your vote to be redistributed in the next round.

GreenandCommon · 08/09/2021 07:24

Slow typing!

NecessaryScene · 08/09/2021 07:45

It's when you don't want your vote to be redistributed in the next round.

Well, it's more than that, it's specifically voting to re-open nominations once your other choices are out, rather than abstaining.

RON can win, which means a new election.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 09/09/2021 18:47

WarriorN, that looks like good news. Most of the candidates I voted for (because they are concerned for the environment rather than identity politics) were elected. Sorry to see Taymar Pitman didn't get in this time, but delighted to see Julia Lagoutte as publications co-ordinator.

Thanks to all genuine environmentalists who stood, and congratulations to those who were elected.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 09/09/2021 18:55

I've just noticed a typo in earlier information. For those who (like me) copy and paste addresses, the email to keep in touch with other Green Feminists who know that sex matters is [email protected]

GreenGretel · 10/09/2021 08:31

It should be fine so long as you put Tamsin and Amelia last - and preferably put RON (re-open nominations) before them.
