Green Party Women coup

GreenPartyWoman · 27/06/2021 16:27

The Green Party Women's party was co-chaired by a transwoman Kathryn Bristow (fae/fae) and a woman Emma Bateman. Emma has been suspended for alleged transphobia.

Kathryn has now taken over, calling themselves the Chair and removing the rights of women to organise and discuss women's matters on the Green Party forum. Kathryn has gone so far as to delete all previous posts.

Their statement:
"Over the last week I have tried to find a way to moderate this space in compliance with the Equality Act. Unfortunately I can't see a way of doing this that the 100 or so users of this space would be happy with and that wouldn't take a lot of my or someone else's time. While we have to look after the interests of 10,000’s Green Party members.
So sadly I have had to lock the ability of uses to post and comment on this space. I've also deleted all recent posts on the space by users, to ensure that we are complaint with the law in a way that makes no judgement on any one post.
I have to bring it up with the rest of the committee but my feeling is that is space will become a one way commutation tool from the committee to the membership.
More updates will be made soon.

Kathryn Bristow, Chair of Green Party Women"

I don't even know where to go with this, except that this seems to be almost like a totalitarian coup.

#NoDebate

Well hopefully there will be an investigation into this removal of women’s rights to speak.

Thelnebriati · 27/06/2021 16:34

That was neatly done, wasn't it, from the vote to here. I have to admire the chutzpah.

LizzieSiddal · 27/06/2021 16:37

And this may turn out to be a good thing. The Green Party have gone down a rabbit hole and there should be a proper investigation re what’s actually going on behind the scenes.

Isn’t it strange that all these naughty women, including Emma, are “transphobic”. I wonder if Kathryn is aware of the recent Maya judgement.

InspiralCoalescenceRingdown · 27/06/2021 16:39

Snowball and Napoleon come to mind.

I think Kathryn is, as there was much discussion on the forum about the Equality Act, hence Kathryn appropriating those words to their own good.

(God I hate this enforced speech).

Isn't that what #nodebate means? Women will remain silent and may not challenge the rights of men to determine what woman are, what the law is, what privacy and safeguarding boundaries will be breached, what drugs will be offered to children off label (often promoted by members of political parties) and so many other aspects of women's lives?

The trouble is, us pesky women will not be silenced. Angry

LizzieSiddal · 27/06/2021 16:49

I think we should joint the Green Party and fight from within. Mind you, I also think that about Labour then realise it’s probably a futile idea.

InvisibleDragon · 27/06/2021 17:04

Yikes.

Given that GC beliefs are protected, does Emma Bateman have grounds to sue here?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 27/06/2021 17:06

I'm in awe of all those women who are fighting from the inside LizzieSiddal But I'm not prepared to expose myself to the toxic male hatred that seems to dominate our parties.
I noticed that Jean Hatchet was elected as Women's Officer for Sheffield Hallam Labour yet within days? hours? was being targeted on her personal twitter account demanding that she remove a tweet about single sex prisons etc for women. I can see that she's had to protect her twitter account now.
The policing of women by men in political parties is completely out of control.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 27/06/2021 17:07

What a surprise that this has happened.

highame · 27/06/2021 17:13

I wonder if students are being encouraged to sign up for political parties and to get their views adopted. Perhaps our Universities are being used as a subversive means to get CRT into our mainstream discourse via the SW umbrella. Maybe I've gone a little too far but hey ho

Theeyeballsinthesky · 27/06/2021 17:14

I’m shocked, Shocked! I tell you at this turn of events

I’m sorry for the Green Party members who have tried to fight this and can only hope that this make more of the beeeee kiiiiiind cried wake up

I'm amazed that KB wasn't suspended for actively inviting Twitter followers or anyone who was passing to break the law by incorrectly answering the census sex question.

(KB locked their Twitter shortly after that so I figured something was up.)

The GP can't care much about democracy, there should have been another vote, KB has got it by default. KB must be really proud.

Slythermum · 27/06/2021 17:20

I never imagined such a thing could happen! None of us could anticipate it, nope.
Ok who wants to bet on what they will do next?

Flapjak · 27/06/2021 17:28

A man, chair of the Greens Womens party, isnt allowing women to speak. I dont know how the women in the Green Party can bare it.

GreenPartyWoman · 27/06/2021 21:35

flapjak it's happened because the woke misogynists enlist all their mates to join every time there's a vote that matters to women.
Others upthread are right.. this sort of thing never happens right?

Does anyone know why Kathryn stood down from running as a councillor in the last election, is it to do with this? I wondered if there was some controversy within the party.

PearPickingPorky · 27/06/2021 22:26

All the women banned from speaking in the Green Party forum will just move the conversation elsewhere now though, won't they?

walkingthedog1 · 27/06/2021 22:40

Bloody hell that's bad

MindtheMinotaur · 28/06/2021 00:48

Green Party Women, used to be an excellent group. Lots going on and to get involved with. KB took over with hand maidens, with plenty of men registering as women to vote as the green party allowed self ID. Faeker got Emma Bateman suspended and now nothing is happening.

Because faeker weren't interested in the group in the slightest, they just wanted to force themselves onto women that didn't want them.

As KB says in the post, faery fae's got much better things to with faer time than a really be bothered with the group.

Congressdingo · 28/06/2021 07:25

@Flapjak

I dont know why they dont all leave and demand a refund of any monies paid.

I know plenty said to fight from the inside, the idea has merit. But paying actual money over to be silenced is terrible.
The GP should soon crash and burn and then either rebuild itself with some green policies or just die a death never to be heard about again,

highame · 28/06/2021 07:30

The Green's made gains at the last election, so it will be difficult to get them to make changes. The only hope is that, as this hasn't been given approval, maybe it will stumble down the line. The Green's like the idea of no-debate don't they? so maybe not much hope.

BettyFilous · 28/06/2021 07:31

This is a flagrant example of direct sex discrimination in light of the Reindorf report and Maya’s judgement and very unwise. I hope the Green Party has deep pockets. I would be happy to support an appeal to challenge this through the courts.

I can’t say what I think about “Kathryn” on MN without getting a strike, but let’s just say you’re not fooling anyone about who you really are and your agenda is clear as day.

BlibBlobBlabBlub · 28/06/2021 07:32

How the FUCK can anyone expect to be taken seriously while insisting people refer to you as "Fae"
