I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

That sounds amazing SpringCrocus. The perfect thing for a Friday.

mollythemeerkat · 16/07/2021 16:07

You are raising the tone spring crocus - I`m all for the champagne, but can we have it with hairy pork scratchings - apologies to vegans.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 16/07/2021 18:44

The smell of torn basil is heavy in the air.

I've got more pizza lined up on the peel. They'll be ready in

MrsOvertonsWindow · 16/07/2021 18:51

What a thread of culinary (and alcoholic) delights Smile

Proffers the first of my homegrown watercress, radishes and tomatoes as a side salad for Embarrasing's pizzas. Have Wine (in the bottle for sharing) and settles down on a comfy cushion in the company of women. The perfect start to a weekend.

Turned · 16/07/2021 19:09

It definitely wasn’t me requesting the weetabix base. The pizza and salads are smelling very good though.
I’m going to have a look at the books later - any recommendations for when I finish Helen Joyce? It is my birthday and I’ve promised myself lots of reading. And another glass of SpringCrocus’ excellent elderflower champagne.

DaisiesandButtercups · 16/07/2021 19:23

Oh no not weetabix again, come on, I thought we were over that.

I’m going to need another elderflower champagne.

I’ve been on the G&T all afternoon but I am on strike from taxi driving duties, my OH can ferry the children around I’ve brought my sleeping bag, I am here for the duration.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 16/07/2021 19:28

Sloe gin and tonic: a great start to the weekend.

Anyone on the patio need and Avon Skin So Soft? It's the best insect repellent known to woman.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 16/07/2021 19:42

Roast vegetables and an assortment of various savoury bits. More pizza upcoming.

Thank you for the salads, whoever brought those.

Avon skin so soft is excellent to keep flies off horses. Also, its why Scots roadbuilders have excellent complexions apparently.

SpringCrocus · 16/07/2021 23:22

Rainbow Dildo Butt Monkey featured prominently on The Last Leg, tonight. Was v funny

SpringCrocus · 17/07/2021 01:20

Not the actual costume, one mocked up by The Last Leg and worn by a member of crew. It was very, very good, and shone sunlight on this to an audience who wouldn't probably have known, otherwise.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 17/07/2021 10:24

Look at that lovely sunshine!

There is sunscreen behind the bar, and a lovely selection of hats in the cloakroom.

The camel reports that this weather is a bit more like it. She appears to be sunbathing.

highame · 17/07/2021 10:47

I've brought a few bags of sand for Camilla the Camel and melons for the Oryx (who is an Arabian Oryx). I will now get my coat

ErrolTheDragon · 17/07/2021 11:10

A coat?
I'm just lurking inside with my elevenses Brew until the sun moves round a bit and the border I need to work on has some shade.

highame · 17/07/2021 11:19

Same here Errol. It's my summer coat (not a coat, more a linen shirt, old and used for gardening). Along with old hat and old gloves I look like the down market version of Vita Sackville West

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 18/07/2021 10:21

Just as a quick question - I post archive.is versions of article when people ask for share tokens or request another one because the first one lapsed.

It seems that very few people recognise what they are (and I usually prefer a URL I can see before I click so I understand that).

Am I wasting my time (because it is time consuming and I'd much rather stop if it's not helping)?

MaudTheInvincible · 18/07/2021 10:28

EmbarrassingAdmissions I've often been grateful for your archive links, especially when I've come to a thread late. I do know how to find them myself though Thanks

DaisiesandButtercups · 18/07/2021 10:31

Thank you @EmbarrassingAdmissions when/if you have the time I do appreciate the archived articles. Smile

I wouldn’t know how to find them myself.

highame · 18/07/2021 10:36

me too Embarrassing thank you Flowers

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 18/07/2021 10:36

@DaisiesandButtercups

Thank you *@EmbarrassingAdmissions* when/if you have the time I do appreciate the archived articles. Smile

I wouldn’t know how to find them myself.

You go to either archive.is or archive.li and put the URL you're looking for into the text box.

archive.is/

archive.li/

If someone's archived it already, it will give you the link for it. If nobody's archived it before you, then it will process it and archive it (this may take some time, depending on the queue) and then give you the link to share.

You can also search for saved snapshots of a webpage (when it might have been changed from the previous version) or someone's Twitter - you can put the URL in the 'saved snapshots' box.

I find archive searches like this are a good way of saving Twitter threads (must be open, not locked, however).

CrossPurposes · 18/07/2021 10:39

@EmbarrassingAdmissions Thank you for doing it! You are doing history a favour.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 18/07/2021 10:45

I'm grateful for the feedback.

I didn't know if it's because it's no longer the full URL, IYSWIM. I know it looks untidy, but I mostly post a full URL rather than make it a link to a phrase or word because I want people to trust that they can click it.

I don't like clicking bit.ly or other shortening services from people I don't know. Long way to say, I didn't know if that was happening here - if people didn't recognise what the link was and were therefore nervous about following it.

Turned · 18/07/2021 11:11

I always wondered how you got those links and am another one who's grateful for them. Thank you Embarrassing.

Waitwhat23 · 18/07/2021 11:19

I think you deserve a medal for doing archive links - no-one can pull the 'never happened, move along' card.
