I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

Oook?

Waitwhat23 · 08/07/2021 01:06

I can't remember what The Librarian drinks but best not put out some peanuts

Do we fancy some re-enactment stuff? The Batley Townswomen's Guild often put on a good show. Maybe we could give it a go, I mean we could do Lawrence of Arabia given we have a camel

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 08/07/2021 12:30

Totally up for Lawrence of Arabia. Great music.

Obviously I'm not the only one who doesn't like posset!

midgemagneto · 08/07/2021 22:03

What's posset?

Simple , linear definition if possible?

ErrolTheDragon · 09/07/2021 00:10

On MN, most likely baby-sick.

Anyway... I'm in the corner quietly doing the Times Quick Cryptic which today (um, yesterday) seems to have a bit of a Father Ted theme.

A small marsupial, possibly, Errol?
'No ta, but a large gin would be just the job'

Preparations for the weekend rush are under way. < muses on weaponising the camel> Or would that be cruel? To the camel, I mean.O
Moar gin.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 10/07/2021 08:12

I'm baking bread and bits later this afternoon and tomorrow - any special requests, please leave a note for me.

My arms are feeling like the proverbial limp celery stalks so I shall be taking this steadily.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 10/07/2021 08:43

Any fresh bread is good, Embarrassing.

Anyone seen the new DARVO hung over the bar? It's come from the WiSpa thread (the one where MNHQ ammended the title). Absolute corker.

highame · 10/07/2021 08:58

I have been avoiding that one, but have just been for a look 😂😂😂😂
Trouble is, we're too used to intelligent, articulate people posting (even us women who aren't that intelligent/articulate can now be classed as outstandingly bright)

Waitwhat23 · 10/07/2021 16:49

Is it too early for a gin?

What breads and bits have you been baking, @EmbarrassingAdmissions? sniffs hopefully

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 10/07/2021 16:57

Raymond Blanc's pain de campagne is a faithful.

Dan Lepard's sour cream loaf is perfect for sandwiches or for toasting.

I have various specialist high fibre, high protein, or seeded breads.

I've put up some doughs for croissants and danish pastries tomorrow.

This evening I shall be putting out the usual tapas bits - croquetas, stuffed peppers, grilled chorizo, tortilla, assortments of vegetables.

I might also have some burnt cream if it sets up.

One of these weekends, I ought to organise a vat of paella.

Waitwhat23 · 10/07/2021 17:45

Actually drooling- it all sounds delicious. Is the camel allowed some or would that set off some...unfortunate circumstances?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/07/2021 18:35

Well after a quick wander around the board this evening I am in need of gin. Tapas to accompany it sounds just the ticket EmbarrassingAdmissions . But what is burnt cream might I ask?

Leafstamp · 10/07/2021 18:39

Pint of cider please. Classy bird that I am.

Tapas sounds delicious.

I have Catalan relatives so we're a Catalan rather than creme brulee household, IYSWIM:

spanishsabores.com/homemade-spanish-crema-catalana-recipe/

So - we usually have a batch of this on a regular basis or a cheesecake that features it. Alongside water ices made of whatever fruit seems good.

I should have added that I have several cheeses and both sweet and savoury torta to put out if people fancy those.

Sophoclesthefox · 10/07/2021 19:07

Is there Karaoke in this pub, or does it make the camel too skittish?

Waitwhat23 · 10/07/2021 19:32

Doubles and/or a large glass of wine for various posters today for their eloquence and grace under fire when faced with utter nonsense from ploppers.

highame · 10/07/2021 19:35

Oooh Embarassing might I have some of the burned bottom bits of the Paella with mine

I'll see if I can order the ingredients in in time for next week - I'll make a vegetarian one in addition to the usual.
theThreeofWeevils · 10/07/2021 20:02

Happy to assist with paellas, Embarrassing, if another pair of hands is any use.
Anyone needing, ahem, ballast for the evening, I've set down iced dark sticky gingerbread over there. Approx 10,000 kcals a slice, but worth it.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 10/07/2021 20:13

Bloody knackering weekend, this one. Nice to be able to pop into the pub. I can contribute this very lovely bottle of Madeira that DH won't notice has gone...
