At about 1pm on Sunday 27th June Kellie Jay Keen ("Posie Parker") is going to stand outside the New Zealand embassy with a stepladder, a loudhailer and a banner to protest that Laurel Hubbard has denied a deserving sportswoman a place in the Olympics. And will probably steal a woman's medal.

It would be great if people who care about women's sports could go along to support her.

I'm very pleased it went well. Some of us (aka me) vent on our keyboards while Posie stands up in front of people with a loudhailer and a banner. Wine

This did make me chuckle though

their narrow definition of biology

Have you stopped even trying to make sense, Mishy? What on earth are you even talking about?

PurpleHoodie · 28/06/2021 16:02

their narrow definition of biology

Even The Terminator dealt with this crap. And that was in the 20th century.

heathspeedwell · 28/06/2021 17:44

Fantastic to watch the videos and see so clearly that the 10,000 people on the other march were almost all in complete agreement that men don't belong in women's sports.

I was imagining you composing amazing works on your electric keyboard/piano, in the style of Ross from Friends (yes, I know the show is deeply problematic from a Feminist perspective), only with a radfem message. Interesting, I thought.

Then I realised what you really meant Grin

Well done everyone who was there. It looked like a really upbeat day and I'm so glad. As for Laurel Hubbard, discussion of the issues are to be expected. The footage of the young person yelling that the rules are changing every week was pretty chilling. I hope this view is minority. My suspcions are that the more mature peopel that stand up and support debate and discussion on these issues the more we empower young people to see and say the same. Discussion - always good.

ChattyLion · 28/06/2021 22:00

Good for Posie. Women’s sport is under threat.

FannyCann · 29/06/2021 07:58

Fabulous bunch.

In the interests of balance I am posting a picture of this year's Pride march.

Look closely Nonny It's the gift that keeps giving. I don't think I've reached the full count yet.

Scratching my head at the awesome photoshopping powers. StarStarStar

Helleofabore · 29/06/2021 08:27

The amount of work moleatthedoor did on this is amazing.

Challenor, Izzard, E.T., foxes, and fox bashers, the Wallace and grommet character she thinks represents Layla Moran, the newly come out police person, cyclepath, Hubbard must have been very tired getting done the street with those weights.

Brava!!!

And thanks for posting it Fanny.

Helleofabore · 29/06/2021 08:31

Who is in front of Emily Decaudin though?

NonnyMouse1337 · 29/06/2021 08:38

Mole at the door has amazing skills. And I'm worried that I recognised so many of those in the photo lol

Hmmm I believe MrFlo still has an electronic keyboard somewhere.....

That is a brilliant pic. Very telling.

Further down on the thread, was this quote. It's all quite unbelievable.

She doesn't like to put in her votes. What use - except as an anti-woman mouthpiece? 🤷‍♀️

@MishyJDI

...their narrow definition of biology...

You miss the point. Even if our "narrow definition of biology" wrt what it means to be a woman is wrong, it is still a fact that a group of people with a particular set of physical characteristics associated with one reproductive role exist, and those people have advantages and disadvantages in sport and life that are not shared with the group of people that have the physical characteristics associated with the other reproductive role.

Woman is the label we have historically used for that type of body, but assuming that because of that Women's sport is there for anyone who can claim the label Woman is getting the whole thing arse-backwards. It doesn't matter whether you call us women, or female, or smatterblatterkin, when it comes to sport it is the body that matters not the label.

All you achieve by including Hubbard or whoever in Women's sports is demonstrating so very very clearly that if you make Woman a gender label covering a mixed-sex group, you automatically also create a need for single-sex groups to achieve the many practical and needful purposes that separating by women and men used to do.

PurpleHoodie · 29/06/2021 09:12

Yes.

Helleofabore · 29/06/2021 09:26

It must be very infuriating when the world looks at your views of ‘sex is a spectrum’ and puts it in the same category with the anti-vaxxers, creationists, flat-earthers and climate change deniers.

It must be even more infuriating when you spend so much effort in actually attempting to convince everyone that your beliefs are in fact the proven science and people laugh at your blog post evidence.

And then the cherry on top is when the trans author of the 8 person study, shoehorned to retrofit the premise and without control, which influenced the OIC decision even expresses hesitation about inclusion in some sports….

What a shocker, eh?

Looking forward to all the evidence coming through to prove that inclusion is fair…

Or are these posters just here to aim the pointy finger of shame at women who they cannot control and who simply won’t stfu. Grin
