Anyone have an update on the gun toting Brunel Incel who threatened Marion Millar?

Would be good to know if he has been charged and chucked out of the uni for good

There was a freelance journalist on the case, but I don't think he was getting any replies from the police. I'll see if I can find the twitter account.

heathspeedwell · 19/06/2021 10:44

I'm guessing everything will simply go quiet like with Jess Bradley. Not suggesting that Bradley was gun-toting of course. But after allegedly sharing child porn, flashing at work and encouraging other transwomen to flash in women's toilets and on public transport, it seems surprising that no papers thought to follow up on Bradley's story.

Manderleyagain · 19/06/2021 11:55

Yes that's true. Maybe we have to keep a tally of people who do these awful things and their institutions just go quiet on it.

The journalist is @theChristyjones on 8th June he had not been able to get an update.

PurpleHoodie · 19/06/2021 13:17

Do you have any links to the original reports?

The Jess Bradley (and friends) issue needs revisiting. Definitely.

JustcameoutGC · 19/06/2021 13:29

I think the startling contrast with the treatment of Marion might make it a bit harder for it to disappear.

Huh?

Omg

Not heard about that.

Fucking hell.

NiceGerbil · 20/06/2021 03:41

Is this in real life or online?

Do they actually have s gun, if online?

AnyOldPrion · 20/06/2021 05:15

It was on Twitter and he posted pictures of a gun. It was suggested it was a fake gun, but it looked real enough to cause alarm.

My understanding was that they were made using a 3d printer, possibly one through their work at the university, although I could be wrong about that. I'm not sure if they were fully functional.

In RL I'm pretty sure it's not less of a crime to threaten someone with a fake gun? I don't suppose that it counts online, even if it's real, because the target is a woman.

I'm beyond fed up of online impunity.

AfternoonToffee · 20/06/2021 07:46

Of course nothing will have happened, just like it hasn't for any other death threat or threat of violence and threat. If they had just posted an image of a ribbon however then something would have been done.

NewlyGranny · 20/06/2021 08:44

Threatening someone with a fake gun, even if it's a length of wooden dowelling hidden under your jumper, is as serious as using a real gun, because the victim can't tell, can they? The perpetrator couldn't be charged with possession of a firearm, though I'm sure there are other appropriate charges!

PandorasMailbox · 20/06/2021 10:02

The last I heard, he was being investigated by the police and was banned from the campus.

PurpleHoodie · 20/06/2021 13:27

Professional hat on.

It doesn't matter if it is a live weapon, or a replica.

We assume they are the same. We treat the threats as live, real and ongoing. I'm actually glad MRAs/TRAs expose themselves with pride. Gives us plenty of evidence to insist on workplace female spaces.

JustcameoutGC · 20/06/2021 13:34

So purplehoodie, with your professional hat on, what is the most effective way to go about finding out what has happened to someone who had made threats with a gun? Asking for a friend like.

Speaking generally.

Staff (gossip and formal)
Internal reports.
Intranets.
Get yourself promoted to higher levels.
Witness statements.
FOI requests.
GDPR requests.
Speak to the subject themselves (men like this love to brag)

Not recommending any of the above. Just stating how it works.

Snugglepumpkin · 20/06/2021 13:48

It doesn't even have to be a gun for the police to treat it seriously, they just have to think it is.

I was walking home with an antique barometer covered in a black bag to keep the rain off one night when I was surrounded by screeching police cars & armed police as people had reported a gunwoman walking down the high street.

Obviously they didn't detain me once they saw it was just a barometer (& I ended up getting some restoration work out of it) but they took it very seriously.

I only lived a 5 minute walk from home (& 2 minutes from police station)
Did live pretty close to a military base though so that may have been why.

EsmaCannonball · 20/06/2021 14:24

I can't believe my comment was deleted in the post-Maya world. If we can't name who is male then how can we address the truth of male violence? I was even careful to say male when what I really wanted to say was men. This feels like the biggest Orwellian trick that has ever been pulled.

Cailleach1 · 20/06/2021 19:13

Well, the most important thing is that any male gets to compel speech. Even while they are forcing women to say that males are also women.

What woman has the temerity to expect that her safety or existence trumps that?

EyesOpening · 11/10/2021 12:14

In light of what’s been happening with Doc Stock, it reminded me about this and I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about the student with the gun.

Bonheurdupasse · 11/10/2021 12:22

@EsmaCannonball is there any way you can rephrase so we can know what you wanted to say? There’s obviously some TRAs watching the thread to ensure it’s censored, but especially given the subject matter it’s important we can discuss this somehow!

nauticant · 11/10/2021 12:33

They've still got an account on twitter that they're using to direct money to their gofundme page.

ShagMeRiggins · 11/10/2021 12:42

There’s also a pinned Tweet from early June that alludes to the university situation:

“Due to targeted harassment from a large group of TERFs, I am at risk of loosing my scholarship. Without it I can't afford rent, let alone my transition. Now my account is priv I have even less exposure too.”

Artichokeleaves · 11/10/2021 12:49

People reporting illegal behaviour is 'harassment' and the consequences are nasty.

Yes mate, threatening to kill people with guns has consequences you won't like. It's called the law. You're not an exception.
