I don't even know where to start with the inaccuracies in this article. It's making my blood boil.

No wonder The Metro crossword compiler had Adult Human Female in the crossword. What a load of garbage.

R0wantrees · 06/05/2021 14:34

Crossword sedition? Grin

The Metro as with The Independent, has form for publishing some shockingly fact free propaganda by transactivists in recent years.

TinselAngel · 06/05/2021 14:35

That is so badly written. How does such tosh get into newspapers?

R0wantrees · 06/05/2021 14:42

It must be very frustrating for actual journalists.

terryleather · 06/05/2021 15:40

That piece is a steaming pile of horseshit, it's actually embarrassing that it was printed in a national newspaper.
Embarrassing, but sadly not surprising...

TinselAngel · 06/05/2021 16:20

A very well respected female feminist journalist said to me that she had often been gazumped on stories by wholly unqualified trans people who the paper decides they'd rather publish.
NecessaryScene1 · 06/05/2021 16:23

she had often been gazumped on stories by wholly unqualified trans people

Just for the record - how many of them were male?

All
NecessaryScene1 · 06/05/2021 16:32

Knock me down with a feather. Suspected that might be the answer.

They do publish some non-binary/transmen females, but I thought to actually get gazumped would require a male.

StrangeLookingParasite · 06/05/2021 18:45

'Transgender people do change their sex – it is discriminatory to say otherwise' by Ugla Stefanía Kristjönudóttir Jónsdóttir (Owl)

I thought no-one was saying people actually changed sex any more?

This person doesn't seem to understand what a legal fiction is.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 06/05/2021 19:51

Them can just prove it then can’t they?
Just because you say it, doesn’t make it so.

MrsBunHat · 07/05/2021 12:01

The whole foundation of being ‘gender critical’ is to be vehemently against the right of trans people to participate equally in society as their gender

Do you think some/a lot of TRAs or allies actually think that "gender critical" means simply "critical of (meaning "mean to") (trans)gender (people)"? That we have signed up to being GC on the basis that it is literally a club for attacking trans people?

I realise this person may be just twisting and misrepresenting rationality as hate, but I've just realised maybe some of them actually think gender critical literally means anti-trans.

Ms Sinnott helped the judge in the High Court yesterday come to that view.
NotBadConsidering · 07/05/2021 12:24

Oh look, Robin, the author of the article in the OP is here. Are you going to explain why you wrote so many wrong things Robin? Was it on purpose or just incompetent?

R0wantrees · 07/05/2021 12:29

It will be interesting to read the finding.
If indeed Mr Justice Henshaw has come to such a belief/holds such opinion as RobinMoiraWhite asserts, it will surely raise questions.

Ann Sinnott Twitter comment,

"Many thanks for all good wishes! - far too many for me to reply to individually. Don't be downhearted.
Options being considered."

as always I wonder what the reaction would be if we went over to boards for trans people lecturing them how they're not really the opposite sex to the one they were born into, and that whatever they think they dont pass, people are just being kind

and yet so many TRA think that coming over here to do the equivalent of telling us that women are a social construct and it's fine to get rid of the word mother in favour of 'inclusivity' is absolutely fine

I wouldn't be able to do that kind of thing because it would feel like I was violating other people's boundaries

It is exactly that Tinsel and Kit.

I wasnt aware that this was a Board exclusively for non trans individuals?
Thelnebriati · 07/05/2021 20:46

This board is to discuss feminism and women's rights, theres is also an LGBT board.

JudithButlerNot · 07/05/2021 20:48

From the Metro article - "These beliefs [gender critical] are so extreme that they denounce a person’s inner sense of self, something they are in their very core."
Expecting other people to affirm ones inner sense of self/ believing one can only be the true self if other people affirm is extraordinary.

Leafstamp · 07/05/2021 20:52

It is exactly that Tinsel and Kit.

It’s rather telling isn’t it. Says a lot about the nature of those who come here to goad.
