I’m not sure where to even start with this one!

Utterly brainless & offensive on many levels.

PurpleHoodie · 11/03/2021 14:53

What Coffee said.

Apparently.
Thats surreal.... Its like tory politicians have the emotional intelligence of 9 year olds and I apologise to the above average 9 year olds for the smear.
SerendipityJane · 11/03/2021 14:56

Well, she's going to be reelected come 2024, as she was in 2019, 2017, 2015, 2010. And she will speak for you "as a woman".

Glad I'm old. Death will be a nice surprise.

Same Nadine Dorries that didn't realise leaving the EU meant that the UK would no longer have European MP's.
She must represent a seat so safe they could put up a stuffed toy and still win.

WinstonsWeirdVole · 11/03/2021 15:06

ND has always had startlingly batshit views on women’s rights and the rest but this really is a new low 🙄

Aha85 · 11/03/2021 15:07

So Nadine Dorries has 1950s views about the nursing profession... very appropriate.

She won't mind taking a pay cut then.

DialSquare · 11/03/2021 15:10

She may as well have said "let them eat cake"

Well either it's a very common name, or ...

That image above - that hashtag... because he was talking to her daughter? 'Where's my shotgun'? I don't know even where to begin with that.

2012 - and she's been elected 3 times since.

It will be her and her cohort that decide your future - not what happens here.

What about the nurses who don't have husbands?

What a shame as I enjoyed her lovely lane books.

lissie123 · 11/03/2021 15:25

Not all nurses are women

MonkeyNotOrgangrinder · 11/03/2021 15:28

I'm a single parent nurse so can I please have a reasonable payrise Nadine?

I suspect Nadines reply would be go get yourself a man.

Apologies for not remembering the specifics, but I remember that many decades ago, female teachers weren’t allowed to keep their jobs if they got married. When at least one woman appealed against her sacking in court, she was told that if married women were allowed to keep their jobs, it wouldn’t be fair on unmarried women who didn’t have husbands to maintain them!

Moondust001 · 11/03/2021 15:41

Rubbish. It's very clear that all nurses are women and they only go into nursing to snag a doctor, all of whom are men. My auntie told me that, and she should know. She was a nurse in the 1950's.

The same was true of nurses. That auntie I mentioned was actually a career nurse, but back in the 50's and 60's she would have had to "retire" from it if she had married. I don't know whether it was a blanket rule, but it was the norm.

Worth remembering that it was the UKs entering the EEC that gave our sex discrimination laws a kick up the arse.

Also worth remembering the days before 1990 when women had to give all their pay details to their husbands to fill in their tax returns.

I have T-Shirts older than that.

I assume Ms D would be happy to be an unpaid MP then so that her male colleagues can support their wives.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 11/03/2021 15:49

@Moondust001 when I was hoping to go to uni to do a nursing degree (before my MH crumbled) my mum was very encouraging. Only because it meant I could meet a dr to marry and become a housewife. This was 5ish years ago Hmm

IIRC from things I've read/seen married women were expected to give up work because a, their husbands could keep them. And b, they were expected to be running the home and raising a family. They couldn't possibly do both. And heaven forbid the men should help out.

austenwildfell · 11/03/2021 15:51

Tough on our son:
Nurse
Man
Husband

Meredithgrey1 · 11/03/2021 15:52

Why bother paying any women anything then.
