And would you vote for them, as a possible lesser evil?

I’m struggling

I'll help with a template. Spread sheets make me cry, but, I'll add things.

Google your constituency and "Holyrood Election 2021" and the candidates come up.

I've got a couple of names I even recognise.

fatblackcatspaw · 19/01/2021 18:49

yeah a checklist of 5 things to enquire about

off the top of my head

collecting sex aggrigated data

Hate crimes

keeping women services like Rape Crisis and Women's aid women only

Toilets in schools

Social Care?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 19/01/2021 19:18

do they have a comment about the view that including males to single sex spaces excludes some women of faith, those with a history of trauma, and women who just don't want to be around penises?

The Staniland question - do they think that teenage girls should have the right to say "no" to penises in their changing rooms?

Do they know what sex is and gender is?

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2021 19:33

Thanks! Not finding my candidates, though, vivarium. Is there a list on a website?

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2021 19:37

Yes, there are so many interconnected issues.

Freedom of speech & hate crime, language usage, erasure of 'woman'
Women's single sex spaces & rights to female hcps
Prisons & crime stats
Refuges
Statistics wrt health care
Children/puberty blockers
Sport
Women-only shortlists

But best not to overload with too many, I think.

WouldBeGood · 19/01/2021 20:06

Yes, keep it focussed

Last year there was a bit of a buzz about the newly-relaunched Social Democratic Party, supporting 'natal women' including in sport: would they have candidates on Scotland?

BlackForestCake · 19/01/2021 22:32

I doubt very much whether they have any members in Scotland, never mind candidates.

WouldBeGood · 19/01/2021 23:03

There should be a market for a leftist non woke party but it doesn’t seem to happen.

Most people I know are oblivious to the whole TWAW and it’s consequences. They just mutter each to their own, and can’t really believe that what’s happening is true.

Sad about no Social Democratic Party in Scotland, I got excited due to this on the home screen: 'Published and promoted by Matthew Kirtley on behalf of the Social Democratic Party at 272 Bath Street Glasgow G2 4JR': is that address just the publisher of site content?

WouldBeGood · 20/01/2021 09:21

I see they are crowdfunding for Monica Lennon’s campaign. Maybe get on Twitter and comment?

I can't find a website, Arabella, I just googled the parties and the Lib Dems and SNP have a list of everyone, then I googled my constituency and Labour and Tory, found the labour woman (who is basically canon fodder, poor love) and it doesn't look like they have decided on a Tory yet. Which is a surprise as it's a Tory seat, Edinburgh Central has Angus Robertson standing for the SNP as presumably they want it back off Ruth Davidson's hands.

It just all looks like camaigning is going to be messy.

fatblackcatspaw · 20/01/2021 11:44

is it worth contacting the parties centrally?

i've had a couple of emails regarding the Scottish Leader election as I'm a member so will sign up for zoom calls

BlackForestCake · 20/01/2021 14:16

@Pudmyboy well I may well be wrong, it was just off the cuff based on never having heard of them existing here.

I wouldn’t write to party HQ or take part in zoom calls unless you are comfortable outing yourself and know your job is secure.

dinnae fret I'd only have to sack myself!

fatblackcatspaw · 20/01/2021 14:51

but its the right for everyone to know which candidates are being put up in each area so we can question them

Pudmyboy · 20/01/2021 18:01

I had a quick look and found this:

I've had an email from Edinburgh Labour Women's group about some sort of online meeting about what women want.

I don't know why - I haven't been a member for at least 2 years and even when I was, I'd never have signed up to a women's group.

ArabellaScott · 20/01/2021 19:57

Thanks, vivarium, I'll do the same!

fatblackcatspaw · 20/01/2021 20:41

Isn't there another independence party putting up candidates?
