And would you vote for them, as a possible lesser evil?

I’m struggling

remember a week is a long time in politics....

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 19/01/2021 11:59

Andy Whightman might stand as an indie.

Which won't help labour, but I'm hoping he might be vote-able.

At this point I think I'll vote for anyone who is prepared to say TWATW and protect my rights to single sex spaces. And I do mean anyone - if Rees Mogg went GC I'd vote for him.

I feel dirty.

I'm tending towards your view ... and I'd actively campaign AGAINST Lennon - she is a full on Maiden

That's a really good interview. I could really sense his struggle, with both himself and his party. He sounds like a very decent and principled man. I imagine he's a big loss for the Greens.

fatblackcatspaw · 19/01/2021 13:59

oh it is he was their only intellectual IMHO

littlbrowndog · 19/01/2021 14:06

Lib Dem’s and greens voted against johanna Lamont amendment six words

So they can do one as well

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2021 14:35

I always thought Wightman was wasted on the Greens, to be honest. I think someone who has that amoutn of independence of thought is always going to struggle to toe the party line (of any party).

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2021 14:35

Lib dems just delivered me their election communication for Caithness, Moray and Sutherland.

I don't live there.

WouldBeGood · 19/01/2021 14:36

I like independence of thought. He looks good.

@ArabellaScott brilliant from the Lib Dem’s 😂

Honestly, I almost feel sorry for them.

fatblackcatspaw · 19/01/2021 14:48

I think the elections are a good place to start questioning EVERY candidate on this issue. Make it an election issue for every party.

fatblackcatspaw · 19/01/2021 14:48

and make it clear to SNP and Labour that you will vote Tory if there are unsatisfactory answers.

WouldBeGood · 19/01/2021 14:49

Yes. I think that’s a good plan. They need to know how serious this issue is

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 19/01/2021 14:50

Arabella Scott Have my first actual LOL.

Fucking idiots.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 19/01/2021 14:53

I don't understand why politicians can't figure this bit out -

females = 51% of the population.

We tend to vote more too. So, why piss of the majority of voters?

I am assuming that other women are as pissed off as me. I met with my Lib Dem MP about this issue - he conceded privately that trans women aren't female but said that they should be treated as if they are female because they believe they are female.

Meanwhile, actual females are being murdered at a rate of about 3 a week.

Who cares about them, though? Certainly not the Lib Dems.

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2021 15:07

That is a good plan.

I might draw up a template laying out my concerns and asking questions and then

www.writetothem.com/

  • although, that's not going to get to potential candidates ,is it? Bugger. Well, a template will still be useful.
BlackForestCake · 19/01/2021 16:34

Teddy Hope (according to the Herald they is a "prominent equalities campaigner", so don't pretend you haven't heard of they) has just left the SNP over spurious claims of transphobia. Perhaps they is planning to join the Greens instead as Mhridul did, in which case they’s enormous intellect will more than make up for the loss of Wightman. Ahem.

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2021 16:55

They is using 'prominent' loosely, I see. That's a shame Teddy is away. Oh well, never mind.

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2021 16:57

And I am right with Teddy on this one:

'“They need to promise to make the party safe by bringing in a workable definition of transphobia as soon as possible”'

Let's do it, Teddy! What is a woman?

A template will be useful! there's nothing worse than staring at a blank page
