goodlawproject.org/update/advisory-group-transgender/

I know that there is another thread on JM but thought I would start a new one as this has just been released. First of all he has named the people on his advisory committee. They include Alex Sharpe, whom we know all about and about whom no more needs to be said.
Second, they are trying to force a change of policy from the Tavistock that they give PBs simply on parental consent to children who cannot consent to them. That is chilling and dangerous and puts an awful lot of power in the hands of adults with nobody to protect the child’s interests. JM has lost the plot.

Ha ha ha ha ha.

Francis Wheen has been consistently against the TRA ideology for quite some time now. It's good to see.

twitter.com/AndrejNkv/status/1342747218911096832?s=19 this one's a cracker too.

ArabellaScott · 26/12/2020 11:25

That is brutal, Todger!

Appears Maugham's lasting legacy will be to have birthed a new Boxing Day tradition of Gruesome Cluedo.

(Personally I'm going out with a colander looking for marauding badgers, wearing nothing but a foil bikini and a light coating of peanut butter.)

RealityNotEssentialism · 26/12/2020 11:33

Haha it’s #FoxingDay!

Nearly missed this, I was out in the garden poking dormice with a snooker cue, I only came back in because the draft up my cheongsam was getting a bit much!

GrimSisters · 26/12/2020 11:36

I find it sinister that JM and other males are so invested in ensuring children remain in a pre-pubertal state.

RealityNotEssentialism · 26/12/2020 11:41

It’s extremely worrying. He must have a personal connection to this stuff to make it seem worth it to him. He’s made himself a laughing stock within his profession and it seems he’s leaving his job with his head of chambers joining in and calling him unhinged. It’s really quite a fall from grace and unlike what he hopes, I don’t see anyone looking back on this and thinking he was ‘on the right side of history’.

😂

So it turns out that his top legal team consists of a QC who is a specialist on pensions.

I was having a gander on Sarah Phillimore's Twitter and someone pointed out he has expertise on mental capacity issues too, but it's not mentioned in his bio or anything. He represented the parents of Tafida Raqeeb.

Very sad case, but different to what's going on here.

I still don't understand people's issue with the court of protection being involved. It's like they're running scared that these children will now have to be assessed properly, and people so against safeguarding = 🚩

PlantMam · 26/12/2020 12:06

I’m off out sporting a sequinned top hat and tails and carrying a ping pong bat. Will let you you all know if I find 🦇 to pat.

ArabellaScott · 26/12/2020 12:09

Ooh, in rhyme, PlantMam, you've raised the bar. As opposed to bringing it into disrepute. Grin

VulvaPerson · 26/12/2020 12:25

The foxing day stuff Grin I find the whole thing quite vile, the joy at clubbing a injured animal to death (and thinking others would find it funny, when posting it) is just awful really, but I still find these kind of respnses quite amusing. Am I some massive hypocrite?! Not that I am too arsed I guess if people say I am..

I was wondering that about myself earlier, vulvaperson.

I loathe, loathe, loathe what he did, I found it genuinely troubling and very distressing. But I still made a crack about it. I do like a bit of dark humour. But was it appropriate? I don’t know.

TodgerStrunk · 26/12/2020 13:12

No one is celebrating the fact he clubbed a fox to death with a baseball bat whilst wearing his wife's kimono. They are mainly astonished that he wanted a round of applause for doing so, and a year on are memorialising the poor fox by taking the utter piss out of the self important tosspot.

RoyalCorgi · 26/12/2020 13:14

Nothing wrong with a bit of black humour. I laughed at the one that said "I gave a tiny fruit fly a severe look."

StrangeLookingParasite · 26/12/2020 13:22

How can you not laugh at swordfighting a mouse, with a compass, wearing a Dukla Prague away kit?

Biscuitsanddoombar · 26/12/2020 13:25

Yes no one thinks it’s funny he beat an animal to death

But foxing day is a perfect time to remind everyone that the man who pompously lectures everyone on the importance of being kind, blocks people rather than argue his point & is now fighting for children to have the right to take life altering medication without the capacity to understand the implications Clubbed a fix to death wearing his wife’s kimono.....

teawamutu · 26/12/2020 13:38

His HEAD OF CHAMBERS said he was unhinged? Where?

RealityNotEssentialism · 26/12/2020 13:52

@teawamutu Here is Timothy Brennan QC, head of Devereux Chambers, commenting on Joly’s interview. Joly is leaving them in the new year, not sure where he will be going.

Oh that is beautiful. Thank you.

PlantMam · 26/12/2020 14:10

The pictures from twitter are cracking me up.

What Maugham did to the poor fox definitely wasn’t funny but not letting it be forgotten, even if the memorial mechanism is piss taking, seems important.

This man isn’t the crusading righteous hero he pretends to be. The fox was proof of that.

As an aside, I just tried to explain what I was laughing at to DH and I only got as far as ‘Tax QC with posh name who lives in a windmill’ before DH’s eyes went wide in disbelief Grin

Somehow I don't think Maugham's departure from the chambers will be accompanied by a congratulatory farewell party. Although there might be some celebrations after he has gone.

Come on, own up - who put the buttons in the present collection fund?

I think there must be something more to the roasting from the head chambers. The bridge seems to have been well and truly burnt.
