One of the many tweets about this:
Because everyone ignored the mainly middle aged women (eg the ward matrons) who kept saying he was dodgy.
There's a lesson here - listen to women who are raising safeguarding concerns.

What an absolutely excellent point

This goes off on a bit of a tangent but it is important

In the video I posted above about Broadmoor one of the clinicians said that Savile was "a lunatic in charge of the asylum"

Readers may be interested to know that for many years there has been a culture of strange beliefs and weird goings on at Broadmoor.

For example, there is a culture of belief in satanic ritual abuse as a real thing by clinicians and managers at Broadmoor Hospital to this very day.

How do I know this?

Please check out this video titled

Broadmoor's High Dependency Psych Ward (Prison Documentary) | Real Stories

check out the video at 10.30 where a patient called "Dylan" who says” (WARNING - DESCRIPTIONS OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND VIOLENT CHILD ABUSE)

"I got born into a satanic family - very, very violent. In some cases it would have been better to have killed myself than to have allowed me to have this abominable life that I've had.

My father, thankfully he died. A homeless alcoholic. He was the bone breaker, you know, he broke my bones, leave me in the attic and that would be it. Y'know wha i mean. So I had to learn pain very quickly.

My father raped and beat my mother badly. In his twisted thinking he could raise a demon from some kind of hell by raping her in the way that he did.

Erm, the moment I was born she freaked out she said "your eyes are evil you're evil" that was it she just tried killing me, she made me eat cat's food all the time, keeping me locked up in the attic. Wasn't allowed to talk to my brother and sister.

My mother she also liked the sexual abuse. She was adamant that every single avenue of my childhood was gonna be destroyed and she done her best at that.”

(END DESCRIPTION)

Of course it is possible that this very mentally unwell man Dylan, who later in the documentary discloses a history of serious, violent crimes against innocent people, was abused as a child. I do not have the ability to determine the accuracy of Dylan's claims as I do not know who he is and do not know what his parents did or did not do to him.

Obviously as he is mentally unwell his grasp on reality may be compromised.

It may be that he believes that he was born into a satanic family, lots of people who are mentally unwell have delusions about their families being satanists (I have met countless people, mostly women, making such claims) but this does not mean that their families actually are satanists. Obviously.

Unfortunately there exists a network of "professionals" at Broadmoor who are "true believers" in satanic ritual abuse. I have plenty of bitter, first hand experience of these people. This suggests the possibility that Dylan's description of his "satanic family" is likely to be based on false memories.

This network of conspiracy theory prone mental health professionals extends from the Tavistock and Portman NHS Mental Health Trust to the Clinic for Dissociative Studies, the Bowlby Centre (as exposed by Private Eye), the IICSA (as exposed my my earlier posts and also, in some instances, by Private Eye), the South London and Maudsley (SLAM) NHS Mental Health Trust and to the West London NHS Trust and its subsidiary Broadmoor Hospital.

For further evidence of this last link, in addition to the Broadmoor documentary, I am including another link, this time to a page about the Broadmoor documentary on the West London NHS Trust website. The page includes the following text (emphasis mine):

"A patient’s perspective
Dylan is a patient on Canterbury ward, an assertive rehabilitation ward that prepares people for moving on from the hospital. This is his second time at Broadmoor Hospital. He has been here for four years.
Dylan, 49, was born into a satanic family and was abused and assaulted from an early age. He committed arson and became violent, homeless and alcohol dependent which led to his admission to the hospital.

Dylan took part in the documentary to change minds about what life is like in the hospital.

“I saw an awful documentary about Broadmoor. That wasn’t my experience and I thought I could put that forward and it was very important. Olivia [Lichtenstein] came across as very positive and I really felt she wanted the public to see – even if it was the smallest glimpse – that something positive is going on here.

“The treatment is a million times better than before. I feel like I am a different person. I know I did things to be here. I crossed the line. But I am at a good stage in my progress.”

Dylan’s psychiatrist is assessing whether he is recovered enough to be conditionally discharged from the hospital to a medium security hospital.”

<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20190808174025/www.westlondon.nhs.uk/about-west-london-nhs-trust/news-and-media/broadmoor-on-itv/making-the-film/a-patients-perspective/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">web.archive.org/web/20190808174025/www.westlondon.nhs.uk/about-west-london-nhs-trust/news-and-media/broadmoor-on-itv/making-the-film/a-patients-perspective/

A number of things are disturbing about Dylan’s account appearing on the website of the West London NHS Trust.

Firstly and, quite obviously, the trust appears to be treating Dylan’s claims about being born into a “satanic family” completely uncritically.

There is no way on this earth that the trust would claim that Dylan was born into a satanic family on the video and in their website unless the trust’s PR and press people had OKd it with senior people at the trust.

I find myself extremely concerned about whether the lunatics are still running the asylum at Broadmoor.

My concerns are validated by the fact that sometimes vulnerable mentally ill people commit murders whiilst in the grip of florid psychotic delusions about satanic cults.

Fairly recently an acquaintance of mine was murdered by her own son who believed she was the devil while he was under the grip of a psychotic delusion. Not long after there was another horrific example of matricide involving a psychotic man convinced that his mother was a satanist.

Sensible, skeptical, rational persons must ask themselves whether it is appropriate for vulnerable, violent people with a history of delusions to have their delusions about satanic cults validated by mental health professionals.

Not long after Savile's abuses were exposed an article in the Express, quoting the quack Valerie Sinason, claimed that Jimmy Savile abused a child as part of a satanic ritual

<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20201016130133/www.express.co.uk/news/uk/370439/Jimmy-Savile-was-part-of-satanic-ring" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">web.archive.org/web/20201016130133/www.express.co.uk/news/uk/370439/Jimmy-Savile-was-part-of-satanic-ring

Sinason is networked in with the SRA true believers at Broadmoor. For example Prof. Gwen Adshead has authored chapters in some of Sinason's books.

Dr Gwen Adshead is Visiting Gresham Professor of Psychiatry and currently consultant forensic psychiatrist at Ravenswood House. Prior to this post, she worked at Broadmoor Hospital from 1996, first as Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, and then as a Consultant in Forensic Psychotherapy.

Some of the most disturbing things about the goings on at Broadmoor are:

  1. that a dangerous patient who has committed arson and violent acts against innocent people is being considered for release because he believes that he was raised in a multi-gernational satanic cult. If I was in charge of Broadmoor his belief in a satanic family would be cause for extreme concern as it is highly likely to be dellusional and possibly violent upon his release
  1. The the network of quacks promoting SRA narratives used Savile's abuses to try to gain publicity for their own causes. Which is unforgivable
  1. The bizarre claims of Savile being a satanist obscures the horrible reality of what he actually did which was plenty bad enough without all the satanic bullshit

All of this is made worse by the fact that there are youtube videos featuring the anti-abortion campaigner and SRA conspiracy promoter Wilfred Wong on youtube claiming that Savile was a satanist.

It seems to me that the Savile issue is really complex and multi-layered and that many actors have become involved in order to promote their own agendas.

I believe that the issues around abuse of power, influence, blackmail etc. are obscured by additional layers of pseudo-satanic pantomime - this helps nobody it simply obscures abuses

Also Broadmoor, WFAF was going on there back then and WTAF is going on now?

@FairFriday

Actually thinking - what did he know? It can’t all be about ratings?
He was friends with the senior royal men. There were rumours about Lord Mountbatten and an Irish boys home and Saville was rumoured to behave in inappropriate ways in later visits to royal residences. So... he know loads, I'd say.
picklemewalnuts · 17/10/2020 22:08

@megletthesecond the 'only the women' comment, who made that and in what context, please?

TheQuietWoman · 17/10/2020 22:21

IIRC, one of the male producers of Newsnight didn't feel ready to run with the story because it was 'only the women' speaking out...he didn't feel women's testimonies were worth shite.

WagnersFourthSymphony · 17/10/2020 22:33

The nation was groomed to 'be nice'. My mother couldn't stand him and wouldn't have him on television. As a kid, I thought he was creepy but thought I should put aside that feeling as I knew he raised a lot of money for charity, did charity work in hospitals, and was a member of Mensa (as if that conferred any virtue! but I plead youthful naivety). So I thought my mother was just being prejudiced against him on account of his weird appearance. How square!

Then I got a job in Aylesbury, and one of my colleagues had a sister who worked at Stoke Mandeville. He told me stories about Saville, about rape and necrophilia that I couldn't credit, because if they were true he wouldn't be allowed in the hospital, or on the BBC. I put the stories down to the vivid imagination of my colleague, who after all played in a punk band.

This is how we rationalise stuff. Lots of us priding ourselves on being broadminded and accepting. (It's usually good to be broadminded and accepting, except when it isn't.)

And no way should the BBC be doing their own documentary: it should be an independent production company.

TheQuietWoman · 17/10/2020 22:37

A lot of girls and women had stories to tell about that POS...but we weren't listened to. Apparently, lessons were to be learned?? I must have missed that.

MoonPomme · 21/10/2020 22:27

Just goes to show how safegaurding should always apply.
To everyone.
Regardless of celebrity, connections, sexuality or gender identity.
Anyone trying to circumvent safeguards is exactly the person they are designed to stop.
The fact that this creep was given a key to vulnerable people makes me sick.
The hypocrisy of the bbc makes me furious.

DidoLamenting · 21/10/2020 22:28

@ChrisPriss

I honestly don't know any woman who did not find this individual repulsive.
Or any person for that matter.
DidoLamenting · 21/10/2020 22:37

I never voted for Margaret Thatcher but I would have credited her with more sense than this.

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/revealed-jimmy-savile-s-close-friendship-margaret-thatcher-8432351.html

PhoebeSnow · 21/10/2020 22:58

It’s deeply inappropriate that the BBC think that they should be the ones to do any type of documentary on that piece of shit.
30 years ago an ex boyfriend of mine who was from Leeds told me that it was well known that Savile was a “ a dirty old man who interfered with girls”, but no one did anything about it. I was disgusted, but not really surprised as he always came across as a total creep and weird.

I agree. I'm seeing a lot of dismay online about this drama, including from feminist accounts, but if it's done properly it could be very timely and helpful, at a period when yet again women's safeguarding concerns are being silenced and sidelined by the Establishment.
PickAChew · 28/09/2021 17:26

I wouldn't trust the BBC to do that, Ivy.

Mollyollydolly · 28/09/2021 17:30

@HDDD

As a rule I'm not a fan of dramas based around horrific crimes BUT The Three Girls did an amazing job of telling the true story of what happened in Rochdale to an audience that maybe would not have watched a documentary on it. I'm glad they are making this.
That's my view. I remember years ago when Jimmy McGovern made the Hillsborough drama there was an outcry about it. Of course the drama was amazing and really helped bring the injustice to the fore.

I think it's a good thing, he hid in plain sight, the story needs telling. I imagine it's an independent production company making it, commissioned by the BBC, that's how these things tend to work.

It'll all be his mothers fault no doubt, it always is.

NutellaEllaElla · 28/09/2021 17:32

Zombie thread

IvyTwines2 · 28/09/2021 17:35

There's a different generation at the BBC now, and it's actually being produced by ITV Studios. They know there will be a great deal of scrutiny around it.

Zombie thread
Resurrected because it's in the news again, as it's been announced Steve Coogan has been cast as Savile. My Twitter timeline is very GC and there are a lot of people commenting on it.
Floisme · 28/09/2021 17:38

I think there are a number of stories that need telling, not least how the BBC could possibly have failed to notice what was going on in their own organisation over several decades. If they really have commissioned someone independent enough to tell this story, including their own part in it, then I must admit, I'll be impressed, but I'm not holding my breath.

PicsInRed · 28/09/2021 17:40

The BBC are disgracefully embarrassing. Making money off their own crimes.

I'm sorry, but when does the licence fee strike commence? Fuck them so much.

BeaucoupFish · 28/09/2021 18:51

I’m actually speechless
Thank goodness none of my money will go towards funding this 🤬

BeaucoupFish · 28/09/2021 18:52

There’s an article in the Indepedent but paywalled but if anyone has a link would be good, I’d love to read it

BeaucoupFish · 28/09/2021 18:54

@PicsInRed Really simple to go legally licence free I’m not funding them ever again not a penny Notwithstanding the ridiculous salaries and Tim Davie has just had a pay rise of £75k pa Just after they have started charging pensioners again🤬
BeaucoupFish · 28/09/2021 18:59

Is it not protocol to resurrect a zombie if it has been updated? In this case the announcement of the actor, I think it’s interesting and I missed the first one last year

NutellaEllaElla · 29/09/2021 04:51

No ir would be usual to start a new thread.

No ir would be usual to start a new thread.
I like things added on to an older thread to keep information together.

But I'm a dinosaur and have a tiny brain.

I'll be interested to see how Coogan handles this.
