Absolutely appalling. Do they need to wait until a woman is maimed, or worse, before they see the lunacy of this decision?

IwishNothingButTheBestForYou2 · 14/10/2020 13:06

Without clicking on the link I'm going to guess that they don't have comments switched on?

Kit19 · 14/10/2020 13:07

im so angry. Oscar Pistorious wants to compete with able bodied athletes years and fucking years of tooing and froing before its decided his blades confer no addvantage

men want to compete in womens rugby - come along in, yeah yeah we know all the evdience says that men are bigger stronger and faster but meh you know, its just women right?

So. The RFU now has male only rugby and mixed-sex rugby?

  1. The year the RFU will be remembered for introducing cheating to the sport. Mark the day.

Sportsmanship has been thrown out of the window.

GoodyWoolf · 14/10/2020 13:15

I just saw this and I’m raging. There should be more work put it to prove that it is safe to have trans women competing with women, and in the meantime they shouldn’t be allowed to compete. It’s crazy that they say more evidence is needed but allow it to continue when there are real dangers involved. I hope someone sues them.

highame · 14/10/2020 13:16

It says 'for now' and nothing international and also credit where credit's due, they did quote Fair Play for women and not just 'oh they disagree' Even the Guardian knows pulic opinion does not agree with the governing sports bodies who want to push this agenda.

Quote from the Guardian

The RFU’s decision was greeted with disappointment by the women’s rights group Fair Play for Women. “Everyone knows that in a rough sport like rugby it is dangerous for males to play against females,” said the campaigning group’s Nicola Williams said. “And if it’s not safe, it can never be fair either. The science is clear. Growing up male will give transgender athletes a lifelong edge that simply cannot be fully reversed by a period of testosterone suppression.

“Sport must be inclusive of everyone, but the sports categories can’t be,” she added. “The category for the female sex was invented so women and girls could be included in sport. World Rugby has put the safety of its professional female players first. If the RFU don’t do the same then thousands of amateur players will be left asking why they don’t deserve the same protections.”

Collidascope · 14/10/2020 13:18

"However, the RFU’s view, which is understood to be supported by several other countries, is that more work is needed to assess whether there are safe ways to allow trans women to keep playing the sport they love."

Cos that's not emotive. Play with other men, or set up a separate category. No one is saying they can't play the sport they love.

niceberg · 14/10/2020 13:19

Goody exactly. How the hell can they sleep at night taking this approach?

PurpleHoodie · 14/10/2020 13:22

Separation of the teams must be by sex.

Anything else is endorsement of cheating.

wellbehavedwomen · 14/10/2020 13:25

I hope that any woman badly injured by this policy sues them into the ground. They can't begin to say that it isn't forseeable. It's dangerous, plain and simple.

And that's before you even begin to get into the horrendous injustice.

yourhairiswinterfire · 14/10/2020 13:26

What evidence are they waiting for? A woman with a snapped neck because a brick shithouse landed on her?

Kit19 · 14/10/2020 13:26

One thing that does need pulling up quite strongly is how all the focus is going on testosterone levels. Glad Fair Play for women got in the fact that going through puberty gives a life long edge to men.

Until women totally run women's sports, men will attempt to run us into the ground

Whatsnewpussyhat · 14/10/2020 13:32

Fucking cowardly arseholes.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/10/2020 13:34

Hmm, RFU don't seem to be all that fussed about fairness as long as it is safe (which it isn't).

PurpleHoodie · 14/10/2020 13:34

There is now no honour in rugby.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/10/2020 13:34

Arseholes. Ffs. So why then do girls have to stop playing with boys at 11?!

PearPickingPorky · 14/10/2020 13:35

Oh my god. I can't believe they have done this.

Cannot believe it.

Female ruggers must almost all be absolutely incandescent.

Fuckimg appalling.

highame · 14/10/2020 13:39

I wonder if everyone is trying to emphasise the 'inclusion' for MtF's whilst knowing that for so many reasons, very few, if any will be able to play. I'm guessing insurers haven't yet had their say, or if they have, it's under the carpet? Wonder what they'll do about changing facilities. Most women will just walk out if they have to share.

Aesopfable · 14/10/2020 13:43

Could they be sued for sex discrimination?

Kit19 · 14/10/2020 13:43

i cannot believe that educated people in the 21st century have sat around a table and said "you know im not sure there's evidence that men are bigger stronger and faster than women"

Mollyollydolly · 14/10/2020 13:47

I wonder what the implications are with their insurance after the World Rugby ruling. Surprised they can get insurance if they do this after the report was published.

wellbehavedwomen · 14/10/2020 13:49

How the hell did they get captured so easily??

Because they can identify with males wanting to play far more easily than they can females. They see themselves unable to play rugby at the male level with a testosterone drop, and are instantly sympathetic to the denial of an alternative route.

They aren't seeing the women's perspective at all. It's just not being factored into their thinking because they're not putting themselves into the women's shoes.

This is why capture has happened across the board. People instantly consider and sympathise with distressed males. The impact and distress for females just isn't engaged with, and then when those women protest, after the imaginative empathy has already been engaged by the males that protest is instinctively regarded as cruelty.

That's how we ended up in a situation where Karen White was locked in with vulnerable women, and nobody cared until she'd actually harmed some of them. The imaginative leap is all for transwomen, and what it does to vulnerable women to be forced to compete against, and sleep and strip naked alongside, strange males - even when those males are sex offenders, and/or the women survivors of male violence is never really engaged with at all. There's no attempt to imagine what that must be like, the pain it could cause, or the fear it will create. No attempt to imagine what it must be for women athletes to suddenly be told that no talent or commitment matters, ifd a male wants to play. It is solely, and totally, focused on what the male wants.

This is how we know that they do not believe, not for one moment, that transwomen are women. The history of women's sport is of exclusion, and downplaying, and disregarding. The moment males want to participate, then suddenly inclusion is the rule.

It's not even subtle. None of this is.

the absolute fuckers!!!
