One could really mess up their algorithm by posting random words in the middle of posts all across the boards.

We could all be passing through various threads, discussing whether an angel should be male or female on Christmas threads, if they are female should they be a tinselangel or made of another material etc etc.

It appears that they really don't have a fulfilling life if they are more bothered about what other people are saying than living their own best life.

DialSquare · 04/10/2020 15:23

He don't half drone on zzz

I was just going to post the same thing MondayYogurt! I've been struggling to sleep recently (Menopause. Bet that word is not on the fucking list) and this will help a treat.

NewlyGranny · 04/10/2020 15:24

Ooh, he's long-winded, isn't he? And that annoying lip smacking noise...
And reading the content of his powerpoint slides, too.

SquishySquirmy · 04/10/2020 15:42

Pitiful.

Some men really can't stand women disobeying them can they? On the far right, you have the angry weirdo-incels who think women should be "punished" for not fancying them and redistributed amongst the "beta males". They are furious that we dont behave as they demand! And then amongst the "progressives" you get exactly the same types of pathetic, frustrated, angry males.

They just cant stand that we use our mouths for talking.

NRatched · 04/10/2020 15:54

Depressing how many on the hit list appear to have actually disappeared, by MNHQs hand I am guessing? So men trying to shut women up is working it appears.

NRatched · 04/10/2020 15:55

Interesting that one of the most pro-TRA posters we have ever had on here (rat) as been flagged as a problem? For using terms that they don't like, it seems.

Probably caused by quoting posts and then railing against them.
Needmoresleep · 04/10/2020 16:52

Congrats R0wan.

What did happen to Fekko? We should have a ‘those who have fallen’.

Perhaps out techie academic could arrange that. And a monthly top posters list.

But only after he has explained why I am not on his list.

GreenUp · 04/10/2020 17:17

So if this web crawler counts the most prevalent terms on FWR then if we were to sign off every post with GilesGreenwayIsACreep, Giles would get a nice reminder of how women view him every time he runs his little crawler.

I'd like to thank Giles, MNHQ, Lang, my parents, and Jesus for enabling me to make it onto this list.

BlackeyedSusan · 04/10/2020 17:45

Probably get banned for not being in the spirit... Greenup.

Still doesn't stop people thinking it though.

talesofginza · 04/10/2020 17:56

I have some basic experience with webscraping, and as far as I know it is possible for websites to block at least the more basic ones. So, if MNHQ wanted to do something about it there should in theory be a technical way of preventing unauthorised scraping.

stumbledin · 04/10/2020 18:28

I think if you have the IP address of the host site for the web crawler you can block it.

Maybe worth mentioning on site stuff - which I can never find!

ErrolTheDragon · 04/10/2020 18:30

There's a link to the Site Stuff thread about this in the OP.
stumbledin · 04/10/2020 18:34

oops! I was wrong. You block ip addresses to stop people attempting to log in as thought they were the site owner.

Have seen its an instruction to disallow via a robots.txt file.

Sure the techies at MNHQ know who to do this.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 04/10/2020 18:53

Nerd does nerdy stuff.

Nerd does nerdy stuff because nerd really doesn't like women with opinions.

Nerd doesn't like women with opinions because they say no to nerd.

GilesGreenwayIsACreep

Seriously dude, why don't you want women talking about subjects that concern them? Hmmmmn?

witchesaremysisters · 04/10/2020 22:12

Oooooh! Could we use this as a shortlist of sorts for those FWR Awards?

ItsLateHumpty · 05/10/2020 01:32

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/10/2020 09:23

As posted on the thread in Site Stuff, Giles feels the women of Mumsnet could be safely left alone if we only returned to talking about parenting stuff instead of politics and our legal rights. twitter.com/augeas/status/1312871876893511682?s=20

NewlyGranny · 05/10/2020 09:43

...because, of course, giving birth to the next generation automatically disqualifies you for life from caring about the world you and they live in or having anything to say about topics beyond nappies, feeding and education...

Hang on - education!

R0wantrees · 05/10/2020 10:23

If they let Mumsnet return to being a parenting forum, no-one would care any more

Giles Greenway seems not to understand / accept that the primary responsibility parents have is to Safeguard their child/ren.

"Parental Responsibility is defined in s 3(1) Children Act 1989 as being:

“all the rights, duties, powers, responsibilities and authority which by law a parent of a child has in relation to the child and his property”.

The term ‘Parental Responsibility’ attempts to focus on the parent’s duties towards their child rather than the parent’s rights over their child."

The Children Act is the core legislation informing Child Protection & Safeguarding frameworks in the UK.

commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn06787/

www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2004/31/contents

The statutory guidance, 'Working Together to Safeguard Children', sets out how individuals and organisations should work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the relevant legislation

That's just for the plebs though R0, not important IT activism work.

Needmoresleep · 05/10/2020 10:35

Women should stick to their lane.

“Breedersnet” anyone?
