Nice one JK Grin

littlbrowndog · 22/09/2020 22:26

She watches what is going on.

She has awesomeness.

Jo you are just great

So,are we.

Siablue · 22/09/2020 22:30

I love this. She is brilliant and it is a day to celebrate too. I also thought I’d Wendlin the Weird! Grin

wellbehavedwomen · 22/09/2020 22:48

She's amazing. Her grace in the face of this is remarkable, as is her courage.

Not sure we'd be here today if it weren't for her. She's opened a lot of eyes - people heard how hateful she was, thought, "wow, really, the Harry Potter woman?" went and read it and were just - wait, what?

Bless you, JKR. Cometh the hour, cometh the woman.

I really admire how she keeps on going in the face of such abuse. It just seems to make her more determined.

Oxyiz · 23/09/2020 08:26

Love it. I mean I actually love it, its a nice design and everything. Going to order one when I have the laptop open.

EdgeOfACoin · 23/09/2020 08:31

She didn't have to do any of this. She was almost-universally loved and respected. She could have kept her head down and her mouth shut and everyone would have carried on loving her.

Now the American left despises her, her name has been dragged through the mud in some circles and her writing is being raked over for anything that can be considered racist or transphobic.

While she says she knew what she was doing when she spoke up, I'm not even sure she could have foreseen the level of vitriol she has received. The lack of support from other high profile celebrities is also disappointing.

It's interesting she was in touch with Magdalen Berns before Magdalen passed away. I wonder if Magdalen's courage inspired her.

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 23/09/2020 08:37

I thought Rowling referring to herself as a witch wasn't as much a reference to an insult but rather GC feminists these days "feel" like witches because of our collective wrong-think and the constant witch-hunts where TRAs try (and sometimes succeed) to cancel our voices, doxx us, and threaten us with rape and death. I think it's very apt.

bellinisurge · 23/09/2020 08:43

Ordered one. They are great. Shall I wear it to me next zoom team meeting and see if any of my tediously woke colleagues notice. In real life, I am a coward that smiles politely as they drone on with little regard to the consequences for women and insist on the "be kind " thing.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/09/2020 08:49

I’m still considering the ‘wrong crowd’ tee and now I want that one as well (still considering simply because round neck tees do no favours to those of us that are large of nork)

Do you mean Angela's? I can see it above in the general promo, but not for sale.

I quite like the feminist heart one too.

Does anyone know the sizing? What would an 'M' be?

The only men's shirt I have to measure by is a 2XL / XXL

PearPickingPorky · 23/09/2020 09:01

She is funny.

I'm surprised to see someone here suggesting that the threats and abuse she's received are bad enough to warrant her not-going-into-silent-hiding-and-seeking-penance.

BlackberryViolet · 23/09/2020 09:26

I have this. I thought it was subtle enough to get away with for work. Still got a tut, cats bum mouth and shake of the head from one who is so woke she has sleep deprivation. If challenged my plan was to act innocent and talk about my family in PendleWink

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/09/2020 09:42

Blackberry - can you tell me what the sizing is like?

Would an M be right for a woman who takes an M in women's sizing do you think?

It's mainly the shoulders that are an issue as mine aren't particularly broad.

BlackberryViolet · 23/09/2020 09:50

Sizing is pretty generous. I’m a 20 and the 2xl is pretty baggy on me

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/09/2020 09:57

Thanks, Blackberry! :)

I think I'll just order before they all sell out! Unfortunately, I want the entire shop ...

RuffleCrow · 23/09/2020 10:00

Great stuff. Think i may get one.

They won’t sell out, they print as needed, so you may have to wait a few weeks if JK and MN helps demand soar.
RuffleCrow · 23/09/2020 10:06

Is it the shop on Etsy? Why are they all men's sizes?!

GrolliffetheDragon · 23/09/2020 10:20

On second thoughts though - do women get called witches much nowadays, or is it largely a 'reclaimed' term?

You still see it around. As a witch it makes me roll my eyes and sigh a bit.

I was a bit annoyed at reading that Wicca is transphobic and homophobic given that in my experience it definitely isn't homophobic. Of course everything is transphobic these days so...

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/09/2020 10:24

I'm a little weird about witches because I do think that the term has become romanticised and that it obscures medieval femicide.

Yes... I must admit I had a similar reaction when Pendle was mentioned. They were real women (and one man), who were hanged. Now there are brown road signs for the 'Pendle witch trail' ... well, some of it is educational, and I've seen a very interesting play about them at Dukes, but it can seem like swathes of Lancashire are a bit of a theme park.
YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/09/2020 11:20

Yes, I've been to similar in Germany. A small village had recreated a dunking stool and my partner wanted to take a photo of me in it. I said no, because it wasn't funny or appropriate. There are other sites that commemorate where people have died and there is never, ever an element of fantasy or humour.

TheChampagneGalop · 23/09/2020 11:59

Yes, I've also noticed that the "witch" burnings are often treated as some "funny weird thing those stupid people did back then" instead of the horrific mass femicide that it was.
