Why has 'Minor Attracted Person' replaced 'paedophile'?

@highame

LGBT has expanded enormously over recent years and there doesn't seem to have been a check on what's going on. There is always the chance that, once a ball is rolling, it becomes very difficult to tell where it's going.

These people will do everything they can to find a way to be recognised or at least infiltrate a group to give themselves legitimacy. At some point, the LGBT+ community are going to have to deal with this. I think grey areas are a real threat and 'inclusive' for everyone has weaknesses to be exploited.

In no way should groups representing the gay community be tarnished because everyone wants to be included.

Hence the LGB Alliance was formed - and then found itself in a shitstorm accused of transphobia Hmm

ThePurported" and ErrolTheDragon"
I don't believe it is a hoax, but already there are attempts to link this to a hoax to discredit concerned voices, another tactic.

Bygrab not long I would imagine.

That's what frustrated me so much with these topics. As soon as anything comes up that is not 100% positive, it's automatically a hoax or right wingers making stuff up. You just need to do a bit of digging and there's far too much stuff for it to be 4chan messing about

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 17/08/2020 13:07

What I find really worrying is that there are a bunch of kids on there (13/14/15 yos, boys and girls) taking the MAP/NOMAP identity , having AOA as low as 6 etc. These children need help, not a platform where they can get lost in this massive rabbit hole, get groomed and deeply entrenched in a pedophile "identity".

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 17/08/2020 13:12

And so so many, as young as 10(or at least claiming to be) have MAP ally in their bio. How is this allowed?

merrymouse · 17/08/2020 13:21

or the Guardian starts running pieces entitled "what the white supremacist origins or the age of consent reveal about MAPERFs"

I don't think we would get to that stage - but I think that defences that are supposed to protect children have already been eroded. For instance the NSPCC seems more interested in 'acceptance without exception' than teaching children that they can and should have boundaries.

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 17/08/2020 13:28

Nothing to see here. Just your garden variety right wing hoax.

Why 'MAP'?
Why 'MAP'?
AlbusSirius · 17/08/2020 13:39

I presume Non-Offending means "hasn't been caught yet"

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 17/08/2020 13:45

Isn't twitter supposed to be 13?

Why is an 11 yo allowed on it, posting pornografic/NSFW drawn pictures?

And if they're not 11, why are they allowed to pretend they are?

So ,so many children...

Why 'MAP'?

You may well be right; what I was correcting was the unambiguously wrong inference re 'the whole MAP thing' being a hoax.
CousinKrispy · 17/08/2020 14:28

Can't remember who made this excellent point above:

"Perhaps when we see 'MAP' we should avoid the trap of being drawn into the precise technical definitions of paedophilia and ask for clarification - do they mean Child Rapist, other Child Sex Abusers, Child Sex Abuse Fetishist , and a second question - why are they trying to enable or normalise Child Sex Abuse?"

Thought this was going to be a thread about the new Cardi B song.

Alabamawhirly1 · 17/08/2020 22:15

I'm rather suspicious of the accounts claiming to be child MAP allies or even asking for contact.

From what I've seen a big objective for the MAP movement seems to be lowering the age of concent based on the fact that children want to have sex not only with each other but also with adults. They are pushing the idea that with the right education and some sort of exam, children as young as 5 should be able to earn the right to concent.

Now as I, you and any other person that has spent more than a few seconds with a child knows, children do not want to have sex. Teenagers maybe, but they only really want to have sex with each other and that is already legal from what 13?

So the MAP's need child allies to prove their point that children actually want to get into relationships with adults. That's never going to happen. So I think they've probably made up a load of false accounts saying their child MAP allies.

I also fear that these child MAP allie accounts could also be fronts for the trade of CSA images that are traded from twitter.

Alabamawhirly1 · 17/08/2020 22:17

@DryHeave there is a thread about that - it's WAP though

This is my suspicion as well.

Fake accounts to let the "children" fight for them. Not just about age of consent and the very vocal "but I want to have sex!" , but also it's harder to argue robustly against a 12/13/14 yo that claims to be attracted to children. You're then the sick one .

I'm also sure a few are probably actual children that have been groomed into it.

The number of "children" accounts actually shocked me.. more than anything else on the adult ones.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 18/08/2020 08:38

The other thing we should notice and highlight is the use of Person in the letter P of MAP. More accuracy would be provided if they used the word Men but this way they hide under the blanket of ‘women do it too’. As we know, female paedophiles are vanishingly rare. Paedophilia is not an equal opportunities hobby and women are being used here to shield the truth.

TyroSaysMeow · 18/08/2020 09:47

Some of those "child allies" will be real. Compulsively replaying trauma is a real thing. Doesn't make it right.

And begs the question why a child is using twitter or whatever.
ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 18/08/2020 10:26

And begs the question why a child is using twitter or whatever.

And why Twitter allows it, especially the openly sexualised ones. It's basic safeguarding.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/08/2020 10:42

That's what I meant mostly. An abused kid might not be able to access appropriate help (especially if the abuse is familial) and use whatever medium is available.

The SM giants need to step up and take responsibility if there are (or seem to be) vulnerable minors using their site. They should not be facilitating further abuse.

I cannot answer any of your questions as I do not know the answer

Obviously that account is disgusting. I suspect that it is a fake / troll account. Many thinks on SM are not what they seem

I would appreciate some brain bleach after viewing it.

Re the MAP thing

Something I have been researching of late are charities and other organisations working with sex offenders and people who pose a risk of offending. These organisations use the MAP term

I have extremely serious concerns about the organisation I have checked out so far.

I just wondered whether any readers have any knowledge of genuine, reputable organisations in this respect who also refer to MAPs?
