I'm not applauding cancel culture, but grimly amused that this is entirely down to his own actions regarding Baroness Nicholson:

I was also indifferent to the campaign for gay marriage VickyEadieofThigh but when I looked into the arguments presented by the two sides, the ones presented by the anti- side seemed to be motivated by prejudice, anger, and hate, and that shifted my position to see gay marriage as a positive.

Ironically enough, I've recently been on the Breitbart thread where we're told that it's bad to look at sources coming from a position of prejudice, anger, and hate because it's likely to turn people into Nazis.

SunsetBeetch · 27/07/2020 10:47

Kevin is nobody. He's just (yet another example) of a man who has gone for Baroness Nicholson and other GC women, who has turned out not to be squeaky clean himself.

We also see this with anti racist activists, I think. I've not read the whole of Robin Diangelo's White Fragility, but I've seen enough extracts to conclude that she's really racist herself, so assumes all whote people must be.

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/07/2020 10:55

What is his actual job though? I’d be interested to know.

Portnlemon · 27/07/2020 10:57

The Brietbart thread posters scaremongering about instantaneously succumbing to nazi mind control with a click on a page or endorsing a company shaming one woman for having an opinion on limited free movement which is actually the broad consensus in the UK are fascinating. Are they projecting their own fear of being easily led onto others or do they just take pleasure in having scapegoats to be nasty about? Or both?

Justhadathought · 27/07/2020 10:57

Forgive me, but who is kevin? Is he particularly significant

He isn't, but is really quite representative of a lot of gay men, in particular, who now claim to be trans allies...whilst simultaneously completely disrespecting women.

I don't use twitter, myself, but did notice on the link posted to his account, another youngish gay man, who lives in Manchester too, that I'm aware of from another arena; one in which he regularly calls out 'transphobe' and also engages in the ever so correct politics of the modern, so-called progressive left.

There is really a deep seam of unpleasantness in many of the people who so openly identify as egalitarian progressives. and they feel no shame, nor sense of irony, in revealing it quite openly.

Justhadathought · 27/07/2020 11:06

The worst of it is - I'm not actually surprised. So many 'pillar of the community' types are discovered to be using their respectability like a cloaking device to hide who they really are. Now we see the LGBT community is exactly the same

Any time someone holds themselves up as some holier-than-thou denouncing someone else, I can't help but expect them to be uncloaked sometime soon. It's almost a given

This definitely seems to be the case. When you are so busy pointing out the supposed sins of others, it conveniently takes the spot-light off you, even if just for a moment.

It is the sort of behaviour that fuelled the Salem witch trials, or even Hitler Youth. The denunciations; followed by grovelling apologies; then re-education.

ThePurported · 27/07/2020 11:19

@Deliriumoftheendless

On that Nutmeg thread she says-

“Definitely. And every time I see men and women say how discriminated against trans people are (when there's no evidence to support this) I now hear them say 'I used to openly mock gender non conforming and mentally ill men and I assume you're as pathetic as me'“

she’s onto something.

Yeah, there's a whole load of unpleasant attitudes bubbling under the surface. The built-in misogyny of TRA extremism must be a great outlet for these people. Now they can openly attack women instead 👍

I assume the Twitter warriors are currently writing letters to Kevin's employer, demanding he be sacked?

Oh wait, no. He's got Teflon Testes.

Justhadathought · 27/07/2020 11:34

The attitudes of many gay men has been one of the biggest revelations and disappointments for me..in all of this trans ally stuff.
Maybe they recognise or identify with some of the misogyny inherent in the whole TWAW mantra. You know, the drag acts; the crude references to women's bodies; the thinly disguised disgust; the lack of empathy for women; the total lack of understanding.

Justhadathought · 27/07/2020 11:41

All of the virtue signalling "running for charity" business that so many engage in these days....as some sort of stand in for actual political action, or in place of actual personal good/right behaviour. Raising money with Virgingiving for goodness sake.

These people don't have a radical political bone in their bodies, and then have the nerve to castigate women who have spent years in genuinely active political/social struggle

I saw a tweet by a well known ‘they’ that because - I can’t quote believe it myself, and I paraphrase - Because black women have strong features then trans people should be more acceptable. (Need to wash my hands now)

FancyPants20 · 27/07/2020 14:01

That article about our friend Damo in the Times has been removed. Hmm

WhereYouLeftIt · 27/07/2020 14:14

fatblackcatspaw · 27/07/2020 14:16

I saw that - why has it been removed, I wonder. Has Damo threatened to cancel the Times?
highame · 27/07/2020 14:36

I have a feeling he wasn't ousted and probably the Times confirmed that at some point.

I wish it has been correct but respect the Times for doing it.

Secretly, I hope it comes back up with minor corrections😁
