Eddie Redmayne reportedly wants JK Rowling sacked from Fantastic Beasts!

I really hope this isn't true because this is the brass neck to beat all brass necks (link credit to several lovely Twitter posters) www.looper.com/217223/eddie-redmayne-reportedly-wants-j-k-rowling-let-go-from-fantastic-beasts-franchise/

If it is and I were JKR I'd make sure he never worked in film again, not that anyone would want to hire anyone who displayed this appalling behaviour - especially not someone as mediocre as Redmayne.

I'm sure if he felt that strongly about trans rights/ visibility he wouldn't have taken the lead role in The Danish Girl! 💸💸💸

dementedma · 17/06/2020 19:01

What a wanker! Man demands sacking of woman who had temerity to stand up to men. Sound familiar?

Sandybval · 17/06/2020 19:03

If he felt that strongly, why doesn't he leave?

teawamutu · 17/06/2020 19:03

I googled - that piece appeared on two sites a week ago, and wasn't picked up by any of the main ones. Maybe just speculation?

Alltheprettyseahorses · 17/06/2020 19:03

I think JKR owns the franchise, writes the scripts and is a producer. Yet Redmayne reportedly thinks he can get her sacked. Madness!

What a ridiculous little arsehole he is.

ChurchOfWokeApostate · 17/06/2020 19:05

Ffs

SerenityNowwwww · 17/06/2020 19:06

Don’t know if it’s true - but he can vote with his feet. Won’t want that tainted money now would he?

Obnoxious little oik.

Gimmecaffeine · 17/06/2020 19:06

Yeah! Let's unquestioningly accept this article!

Mumoblue · 17/06/2020 19:07

Doesn't she own the rights? Confused

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 17/06/2020 19:09

Head firmly up his own tedious arse

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 17/06/2020 19:12

Maybe just speculation

Yeah I reckon speculation

I mean otherwise he would be so stupid that I don’t under how he could walk and breathe at the same time

WisestIsShe · 17/06/2020 19:13

Thread title made me laugh. Seriously, who does he think he is?

TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot · 17/06/2020 19:13

Hideous little twat.

When he made his last statement about disagreeing with everything JK Rowling said I think it was just before Rowling put out her long statement on her website and I pictured Redmayne sitting smugly down, congratulating himself on being so woke, thinking he could just sit back and let the job offers roll in, then going online and seeing Rowling's statement and screaming "shiiiiiit, everything she says makes sense and now I look like the twat for throwing a domestic abuse survivor under the bus."

I really thought that he and everyone else who'd denounced her would be making a few quiet, sheepish statements about how actually they really like and support JK Rowling and their previous statements had been completely misunderstood.

But now he's just dug himself deeper into an anti-Rowling pit and when this is all over he'll be stuck there all alone.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 17/06/2020 19:15

I don't understand, the article accuses her of conflating sex and gender. I think her point was, and the point of most of us, is that sex and gender are not the same. I'd have loved them to expand on that point to explain why they think she's confused.

jay55 · 17/06/2020 19:16

Women have so little representation in the film world and he wants one who is successful fired for standing up for other women. Typical man.

DrDavidBanner · 17/06/2020 19:16

That article is ridiculous. It seems like Looper have definitely chosen their colours.

If it is true the man is a joke, if he had a bit more talent as an actor I'd try to care but he doesn't so I can't

KittCat · 17/06/2020 19:18

Well be should fuck off then!

teawamutu · 17/06/2020 19:18

JKR is known for insisting on retaining creative control over projects related to her work. Can't see this being right.

God, I hope she has and I hope she tells him to get to fuck.

In 50 years time.. who is going to be remembered. The author of a well known (and pretty timeless) children's book series, or a film actor?

If he doesn't like it, he should put his money where his mouth is. Whether she works on the film or not, her name is associated with it. It's her world.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 17/06/2020 19:24

I don’t think this article is true. I actually really like Eddie Redmayne and had a little crush on him after the first FB film. Hopefully he’s done a bit more critical thinking since his first statement. I haven’t seen the other one though as I refuse to watch anything with Johnny Depp in it Angry

skql · 17/06/2020 19:24

red guard here!

magicstar1 · 17/06/2020 19:26

According to the article, she writes the screenplays for these films ... they’re not book adaptations. There’s her first chapter for the next one....Newt Scaramander has a fatal accident.

Imnobody4 · 17/06/2020 19:27

Just a rumour, can't believe he is that deluded.
