I really hope this isn't true because this is the brass neck to beat all brass necks (link credit to several lovely Twitter posters) www.looper.com/217223/eddie-redmayne-reportedly-wants-j-k-rowling-let-go-from-fantastic-beasts-franchise/

If it is and I were JKR I'd make sure he never worked in film again, not that anyone would want to hire anyone who displayed this appalling behaviour - especially not someone as mediocre as Redmayne.

Eddie Redmayne can get to fuck.

skql · 17/06/2020 19:28

i'm pretty sure his conscience doesn't let him take role in "bigoted JKR movie".

prove it eddie!

see us your conscience is stronger than money and fame.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 17/06/2020 19:31

This just sounds like made up shit.

jamandtonic · 17/06/2020 19:32

Hahahahahahaha. Dream on sunshine.

Enderthedragon · 17/06/2020 19:34

I really don't think this is true - she has the rights to it all so couldn't be 'let go' anyway. If he really doesn't want to work for her, he can leave, actors like him are ten a penny. He knows this.

I call bullshit.

wellbehavedwomen · 17/06/2020 19:35

I'm 100% certain this isn't true, because it's her franchise. He's an actor. He doesn't get to make that call.

I suspect he was Properly Educated when making the Danish Girl, and doesn't really understand the other side. It's not one most people have dared to voice until very recently. I rolled my eyes at his comments, and feel it would have been courteous of all of them to at least seek to speak with her before voicing an opinion (admittedly, for all we know one or more may have done). But I don't think this story is true in any way. It doesn't make sense on its own terms.

Tonz · 17/06/2020 19:36

If that's true he's an absolute idiot. Fantastic beasts wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the fantastic JK Rowling.

viques · 17/06/2020 19:37

@magicstar1

According to the article, she writes the screenplays for these films ... they’re not book adaptations. There’s her first chapter for the next one....Newt Scaramander has a fatal accident.
Does it have to be fatal? Could he not have been attacked by a regenderising spell and must forever more be known as Newtral and have to wear unflattering women's clothing, badly applied makeup and caterpillar eyebrows ?
DjMomo · 17/06/2020 19:39

The ungrateful little toad! Can we start a petition to boycott him?...and actually everyone who’s been an ungrateful little toad lately to JKR?

Michelleoftheresistance · 17/06/2020 19:41

Hmm. Anyone think they could possibly, you know, recast the part if Redmayne doesn't want to work with JK?

Actors do that all the time. They're interchangeable. We had two different Dumbledores, multiple James Bonds, it's not a biggie at all. Writers and owners of franchises on the other hand... no, not so much.

BringbackLang · 17/06/2020 19:41

Saw this on Spinster. Need one for Redmayne.

Littlemeadow123 · 17/06/2020 19:43

Lets just find out if this rumour is definitely true before we start slagging him off.

EwwSprouts · 17/06/2020 19:43

He's banking on the fact one of the Harry Potter screenwriters has been brought on board for the third film but as co with JK. Maybe he's not well read enough to have come across Don't bite the hand that feeds you?

SockYarn · 17/06/2020 19:45

What an entitled man.

That means adult human male, btw.

Mayorquimby2 · 17/06/2020 19:46

I wouldn't be banking on anything on looper being true.

It's a click bait site full of film/game rumours, gossip, lists and "you won't believe what this man found in his pancakes" articles

Judellie · 17/06/2020 19:47

Am I supposed to know who Eddie Redmayne is?

0v9c99f9g9d939d9f9g9h8h · 17/06/2020 19:48

One article of dubious credibility and you're all viperish about whoever has dares to maybe commit this atrocity. They're always mediocre or rubbish suddenly...if JKR was in favour of trans rights you'd suddenly think she was overrated and full of herself.

JemimaShore · 17/06/2020 19:51

He'd be totally fucking unreasonable to demand this. I wonder if this is ridiculous gossip, or he really has?

All these actors shitting on a woman whose writing they have hugely benefitted from makes me sick.

Michelleoftheresistance · 17/06/2020 19:53

'Trans rights' being the elimination of female rights, let's remember that.

I'm not going to have much enthusiasm about anyone who thinks female rights should be removed and female people should be relegated to support humans. Hmm

Oddly enough I'll be able to be unenthusiastic without rage, or threatening to rape or harm anybody for daring to be misogynistic.

Oddly enough, we still wouldn't send rape and death threats to her or belittle her awful experiences. Only one side of the argument does that.

Oh no, what you do is clearly much more subtle.

Zug2 · 17/06/2020 19:55

it is a shark feeding frenzy, they have made JK Rowling is the bait.

I have no time for any of them that are using her as bait because they think it is the WOKE thing to do. I have told my kids what dickheads they all are and why they should never by sheep.

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 17/06/2020 19:56

Ooh, ooh! This thread gives me the opportunity to paraphrase one of my favourite AskDanielRadcliffe tweets!

‘If Eddie Redmayne truly believes that Transwomen ARE women, why did he, a man, accept the role of The Danish Girl? Shouldn’t he have stepped aside and let a woman play the role?’

MissFitton · 17/06/2020 19:58

Odious little twerp.

Mind you "you won't believe what this man found in his pancakes" has made me chuckle far too much. Grin

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 17/06/2020 19:59

JK should get Fionne Orlander a part, Fionne loves all that magical/fairy/fantasy stuff. It would make Fionne very happy and wind the anti-woman-activists up no end!
