“The so-called "rough sex gone wrong" defence will be outlawed in new domestic abuse legislation a justice minister has told MPs.”

That's great news, it's a disgrace it's ever been allowed as a defence

Gncq · 16/06/2020 21:52
Shock Such good news
SerenityNowwwww · 16/06/2020 21:53

I can’t quite put into words the contempt I have for lawyers who used this.

This is excellent news.

ThePurported · 16/06/2020 22:00

Good.
Those who allowed it to become a thing in the first place need to look in the mirror.

Susanna85 · 16/06/2020 22:01

👍

LastTrainEast · 16/06/2020 22:06

That is really good news.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 16/06/2020 22:06

About time too. It’s disgraceful that this was a) allowed as a defence; and b) not legislators against after the first case like this.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 16/06/2020 22:08

That's good to hear. Thank You to everyone who has been working towards this.

CaraDune · 16/06/2020 22:12

Some very good news. Well done to everyone in the "We can't consent to this" campaign for all their hard work.

100% agree
ChattyLion · 16/06/2020 22:17

Excellent! Fantastic campaigning!! Well done Fiona and everyone involved (and also thank you to the MPs who supported this.)

RuffleCrow · 16/06/2020 22:20

About time! I'm not sure how it ever became an acceptable defence in the first place! There must have been at least a tiny window in the 20th century when killing someone female was viewed as seriously as killing someone male Hmm

LizzieSiddal · 16/06/2020 22:20

Great news

Yes. Brilliant news. Should never have been considered a reasonable defence at all.
ScrimpshawTheSecond · 16/06/2020 22:44

Good.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 16/06/2020 22:47

I just came on here to post about this. So glad we've got some good news right now.

DopamineHits · 16/06/2020 22:55

Excellent news

BettyFloop · 16/06/2020 22:59

Good.
I've always despised men who use this defence and the lawyers and barristers who represent them in court because the woman is dead and unable to counter anything they say.
Anyone who believes a woman wants sex that's "rough" enough to kill them when it "goes wrong" is a deluded misogynist.

Well done We Can't Consent to This and everyone who's supported them.
