Funny how JK Rowling gets acres of abuse while IW is spectacularly racist on Twitter and seems to get away with it scot-free.

Twitter is both racist and misogynistic as bloody usual

Whoa, that's an appalling thing to say

ShinyFootball · 07/06/2020 16:35

Shock wtf?

CatONineTails · 07/06/2020 16:36
Shock
WendyHoused · 07/06/2020 16:39

I had to re-read it myself - couldn’t believe anyone could be so colossally entitled, obtuse and offensive.

I don't think it's racist. It's probably a bit of fact. Not that I have any issue with a black person getting an opportunity over a white person, I think it's actually a good thing to be honest but we can't pretend that people (white especially) aren't tip toeing around, scared to offend and many businesses will seize the opportunity to look better by using black people. I don't think this is what BLM wanted to achieve though, they didn't want superiority, they wanted equality. I'm white and it doesn't bother me if there does become an element of superiority. Maybe it will help? Maybe it will massively reduce racism which is the aim.

At the end of the day, even if white people do become less privileged and have less chances, they will still never be enslaved on a mass scale, followed around shops for no reason and called all sorts of derogatory names so it would never be the same as what has happened to black people

If course it's racist.

In what way is it better to be black than white in the UK or the USA at the moment???

midwestsummer · 07/06/2020 16:48

I don't think that is how structural racism actually works.
There aren't any stats in the USA to support this claim currently.

LunaFabre · 07/06/2020 16:49

So because of a week or so of protests people think racism against black people is now over? Confused

SarahTancredi · 07/06/2020 16:51

Are we surprised a person who does not subscribe to truth, tweets something that is untrue?

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/06/2020 16:51

Just like sexism, when you're used to privilege, equality or in this case a very slight move towards a small change feels like oppression.

Clymene · 07/06/2020 16:54

It's racist and there is zero evidence to suggest that black candidates are favoured over white ones. Quite the reverse.

CaraDune · 07/06/2020 17:04

Horrifically racist and spectacularly tone deaf.

WhatIsLife20 · 07/06/2020 17:06

I saw a quote somewhere, it made a lot of sense to me. It was along the lines of:

Black people getting equality won't mean white people will become oppressed. It will be like instead of a white person walking into a shop and buying something for £10 and handing over a £10 note, they'll have to go into their pocket and dig out a £5 note and some change then count it to get their item. They will still get their item with no issues, they will just have to put more effort in. A black person currently buys the same item counting out change to get it then might even come up short and be denied the item.

The logic makes sense to me. White people need to give black people some of their £5 notes and pound coins in exchange for their change so we are all equal. No one ends up counting out all the change in the shop and being denied anything

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 07/06/2020 17:07

...WTF?

Unless India is referring to the opportunity to be murdered by the police if one lives in America then I am unclear what opportunities India is referring to. Luckily for India most people know perfectly well that humans can't say sex so nobody will be calling India a Karen.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 07/06/2020 17:07

Can't change sex, rather, though we can't say sex honestly either unless we want to be censored.

BacklashStarts · 07/06/2020 17:10

Bloody hell, that is appalling racist!

testing987654321 · 07/06/2020 17:17

Complete nonsense. But then it is coming from a male person who believes that by having some operations they are now a woman. And the vast majority of people they meet pretend they believe that too.

I suggest IW watches this, although if seeing a black man killed by a policeman on TV doesn't get through, then probably nothing will.

HermioneWeasley · 07/06/2020 17:19

Deluded person is deluded

Sexist person is also racist

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 07/06/2020 17:24

Is India being called out for that piece of racist bollocks? If ever someone fully deserved a Twitter pile-on this is it.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 07/06/2020 17:29

Someone far more eloquent than me explained that once a person is capable of othering a group of people they can apply that easily to other groups so sexists are more likely to also be racist/homophobic/etc

WendyHoused · 07/06/2020 17:30

And somehow, yet again, they make it all about them.

RumbaswithPumbaas · 07/06/2020 17:56

If I was being kind, I wonder if India could mean in terms of the moral high ground (Good time to be black vs white, when white privileged is laid bare and white people need to take a long hard look at themselves?)....

But that’s a bit of a stretch 🤷🏻‍♀️
