Patrick Harvie πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸŒˆ (@patrickharvie) Tweeted:
An MSP just tried to effectively ban the word cisgender from Parliament. I know & respect that some people don't accept it or identify with it, and I used it yesterday in a way which positively reflected that. But many do identify with it, and that should be respected too. t.co/l8V6wNK4Uo twitter.com/patrickharvie/status/1235263009108480000?s=20

If Harvie wants to refer to himself in terms of being c*sgender, he can do that and sound like an eejit if he likes. What he arrogantly did yesterday was mansplain about women, feminism etc. & used a term many have repeatedly objected to, having been asked privately not to use such a term, & did all this in a discussion/debate about women. That is as brazen a display of misogyny as it's possible to get.

BringbackLang · 05/03/2020 07:33

TRA's: "We don't like labels. Don't label us."

Everyone else : "Great nor do we. Don't call us C*s it's insulting."

TRA's: "Uh no. You are either Trans or Cis so that is what I will describe you as."

EE: "HmmAngry. No, just no."

happydappy2 · 05/03/2020 07:46

Cis, another made up word, just like β€˜trans child’ are made up words.

Aesopfable · 05/03/2020 08:08

Unfortunately he is a list MP so to get him out we need pretty much no one to vote for green and a lot of people still think Green Party = environmental protection or as a protest vote. It is one of my biggest aversions to the PR system and that of list MPs; reprehensible individuals that no one voted for can still get in at the top of the party list. And with a minority government they can exert considerable power.

littlbrowndog · 05/03/2020 08:13

Patrick Harvie really dislikes uppity women.

It’s past time that guy gave up on any pretence of doing anything green.

And it’s past time that he gave up on telling women what Patrick Harvie decides what they can be called

It is cheeky fuckiry from Harvie
I don’t need to be defined as not being trans.
It is offensive for some power happy privileged guy to tell women what they are to be called

LynnSchmob · 05/03/2020 08:24

Patrick Harvie an example of why the first past the post system isn’t allbad. He is only an MSP because of the list system and holds a disproportionate amount of power due to this.
He’s a misogynist who now no longer bothers to hide it

Siameasy · 05/03/2020 08:30

I’m pleased by the responses! People aren’t having this shit!

TheRealMcKenna · 05/03/2020 08:37

The rails is almost as good as the β€˜Womxn’s Brunch’ advert...

Violetparis · 05/03/2020 08:49

I wonder if any English or Welsh Labour MPs will eventually have the courage to stand for us, some of the Scottish female MPs are brilliant.

Violetparis · 05/03/2020 08:51

Stand up for us, that was meant to say, Elaine Smith, Johann Lamont and Joanna Cherry have been great in Scotland.

jen1wren · 05/03/2020 08:52

Joan MacAlpine too

FPTP doesn't prevent misogynists from being elected, unfortunately.

I was so proud when Scotland had political leaders who were all gay and/or female. Then I realised that PH was a right wee dickhead.

Needmoresleep · 05/03/2020 09:14

If we have to be cis-women, can we have an International Cis-Women's Day? And a Cis-Women's Day of Remembrance (sadly, a long list of names to read out) and a Cis-Women's History Month?

I know the answer. From the perspective of a Trans-Woman, or their supporters, it seems that what's mine is mine, and what's yours, is mine as well.

Maduixa · 05/03/2020 09:15

Just watched the video. Has no one in the Scottish Parliament ever studied Latin? This particle is pronounced "chees", not "sis".

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 05/03/2020 09:16

PH is absolutely vile. The loathing he has for women drips off him. Good for Elain Smith for challenging him. Clip here:

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 05/03/2020 09:16

That's Elaine obviously!

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 05/03/2020 09:20

Also, to cheer everyone up, here are speeches from Joan M and Johann L in the debate. Outstanding use of parliamentary privilege by Joan to be unequivocal about sex of Julie B's attacker.

It is depressing that it was so sparsely attended (and one there was PH using opportunity to undermine day and promote gender nonsense). Still, these speeches are good!

Have you heard a Who?

"I'm not Blue. I'm not Pink. I'm just grey. I'm a freak. And it seems in a blink, all this music will fade...."
