Patrick Harvie πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸŒˆ (@patrickharvie) Tweeted:
An MSP just tried to effectively ban the word cisgender from Parliament. I know & respect that some people don't accept it or identify with it, and I used it yesterday in a way which positively reflected that. But many do identify with it, and that should be respected too. t.co/l8V6wNK4Uo twitter.com/patrickharvie/status/1235263009108480000?s=20

On that twitter thread someone commented that cis people are not marginalised which almost makes sense when you read it, until you remember that includes all of womankind... it's a very clever use of language actually.

Mockerswithnoknockers · 05/03/2020 17:27

Perhaps that should have been, people get what they vote for, and if they vote for monkeys don't be surprised if they fling shit.

I can't believe chemists think they own this prefix! How dare they?! Wink
It's from astronomy - cis- and trans-Neptunian Objects.
I do not identify as an icy trojan and I never will!

I do accept some blame if my vote has ever inadvertently helped Harvie to get in! But not lately anyway. I used to like Robin Harper though.

I love how they are all 'it's just a descriptor ladies, calm down, I'm going to carry on using it anyway' when women object to cis... But Christ forbid that one uses 'he/him' to describe someone who is male but who 'feels like a woman on the inside'. Tht is 'literal violence'.

Good point, LambriniSocialist, and one that we don't draw enough attention to. We mustn't mention their original name, or call them the sex they are -- if we do, police can record a 'hate incident' against our names.

But they can call us cis-women, menstruators, cervix havers (they treat the English language nearly as badly as they treat women), people with a 'front hole' ... their language oozes disgust for women.

This is probably gonna come across as paranoid but today I emailed the presiding officer of Scottish Parliament about Patrick Harvie's use of CIS. Now I've just received a Scottish Green Party marketing email. Never received an email from any party before & don't remember opting into anything from Scottish Greens.

I've been emailing my constituency MSP and list MSPs about the Gender Recognition Reform Bill but none of them are Scottish Greens.

Is this weird? Anyone know if you contact your maps do you get automatically put on a marketing database? Think I'll give them a phone in the morning.

Exxon? Me too.
I don’t recall any previous ScotGreen emails & I haven’t emailed a green MSP (have emailed non green MSPs in the last couple of days though)

jen1wren · 05/03/2020 20:23

Yes, Exxon oooh that's weird.

I have an Exxon email too. I may have emailed greens in the past but don't recognise the name of the MSP on this one. No explanation as to why I'm getting the email.

DidoLamenting · 05/03/2020 21:52

Anyone know if you contact your mps do you get automatically put on a marketing database?

I've never had marketing e-mails except from Labour and Conservatives , but I was a member (briefly of both)

I've e-mailed SNP MPs and MSPs loads of times but never had marketing e-mails from them.

Being put automatically on a marketing data base must be a GDPR breach surely?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 05/03/2020 22:13

Hm. I used to get emails from scotgreens but not for about 2 years. Maybe they've dug up an old mailing list.
