The council has since confirmed that the flags were removed - with a spokesman admitting they didn't realise the controversial nature of the messaging they had been asked to display.

Course they didn't realise it was controversial - that's because it is a fact. Facts are not controversial. They are just facts.

Sefton Council - spineless cowards.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 02/03/2020 21:06

@OhHolyJesus

Thanks for the other pic.

Interesting juxtaposition of supporting all members of the community - but just not women.

Yes - please someone with a twitter account make the rest of the press aware.

Misogyny in dictionary definition distinction!

thereplycamefromanchorage · 02/03/2020 21:33

Is Sefton council trolling women? Because take a look at this tweet:

mobile.twitter.com/seftoncouncil/status/1234414844624936962

1 in 10 women have endometriosis is a very different figure to 1 in 10 people.

FannyCann · 02/03/2020 21:53

The Royal College Of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists thankfully still understand that they are there to care for women and only women get endometriosis.
Why anyone would think they can improve on the language of the RCOG is a mystery. Hmm

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 02/03/2020 22:12

This is exactly what Posie predicted, of course.

Wonder if any other public building will dare fly one this week?

theflushedzebra · 02/03/2020 22:16

1 in 10 women have endometriosis is a very different figure to 1 in 10 people.

It is indeed. FGS. Woke idiots with no brains running twitter accounts everywhere!

GCAcademic · 02/03/2020 22:16

1 in 10 women have endometriosis is a very different figure to 1 in 10 people.

Well, quite. The utter fucking stupidity of these woke idiots. No point having any facts, though, is there, because reality is a social construct.

theflushedzebra · 02/03/2020 22:28

They are getting slain on twitter for it though. I mean it's one thing being inclusive, but another thing entirely to use/change (!) statistics in a way that makes them wildly inaccurate! Idiots.

theflushedzebra · 02/03/2020 22:34

They've done the same with ovarian cancer. What a load of numpties.

This is the council of where I grew up and still have the group on my Facebook. Came straight on here and knew I could count on you ladies to already be discussing this. Have complained to the council using the link below. Misogyny is a hate crime and no one cares. Obviously men they shout louder than we do. But the comments on my local Facebook site were good so definitely peaked some today and reached some new audiences

boatyardblues · 02/03/2020 23:43

Sadly the protected characteristic of sex does not appear in hate crime legislation. 🤷‍♀️

Qcng · 03/03/2020 00:00

It'll eventually get to the point where the only thing you can say is "people with endometriosis have endometriosis" or "people with testicular cancer have testicular cancer" or "a person who can fall pregnant can fall pregnant" and that's all anyone can say, no reference to other sex characteristics or "shock" mentioning things like male or female in any context.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 03/03/2020 00:30

It’s pretty impressive that they have halved the over all endometriosis rate yet also doubled the number of people at risk from it!

TheShoesa · 03/03/2020 06:47

So Sefton Council support LGBTQ+ community. But clearly not the lesbian, bisexual and (possibly) queer people within that community who are Adult Human Females.

I have seen it said before about it not being the definition itself that is problematic to AH and his followers, more that it is associated with Standing For Women who he considers transphobic. It's the T, always the T that has to be centred.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/03/2020 14:22

Now in the DM, some excellent quotes:

Ms Keen-Minshull crowdfunded a campaign bearing the slogan on a billboard in Liverpool back in 2018 and was accused of hostility to transwomen for suggesting that women don't have penises.

Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull started Standing for Women as a pressure group which maintains that only people born as women can be called women

ArranUpsideDown · 03/03/2020 16:35

Yes. Which is why I have strong objections to the rainbow that is everywhere in the NHS and healthcare that encourages people to re-word items under the banner of inclusivity (and be praised for it). And sometimes these are people who don't necessarily understand what it does to the underlying statistics or how it changes the information. (Or, they're indifferent to it, in the Harry Frankfurt sense.)

ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2020 17:28

I see the DM includes a section, 'who is Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull' - I feel that in the interests of balance they should also have one 'who is Adrian Harrop and wtf gives him a say in what women want to do for IWD'

boatyardblues · 03/03/2020 17:56

I don’t know. We could have a twinning arrangement. If Ade gets to veto and get his way with IWD activities, Posie gets to organise Pride. Fair’s fair.

Cwenthryth · 03/03/2020 18:47

Not going to post links or screenshots as it contains a possible data breach. But Owain Sutton/@OwainAlty seems to have posted Posie’s phone number on Harrop’s thread - as a screenshot of an email she sent Bristol city councillors. Owain is a Green Party activist, I don’t think the phone number is available on Posie’s website.

It looks awfully like a Bristol green councillor may have accessed personal data in their ‘professional’ capacity as a councillor, then shared it with a green party activist who has posted it online, inviting harrassment.

GDPR breach?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 03/03/2020 18:47

Fuck off Sefton.

Just got changed from work, though this T-shirt was appropriate. Woman is not a costume.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/03/2020 18:51

GDPR breach?

If that's what happened, it's a pretty clear cut one.It would have been a breach under the previous data protection act but with a much lower ceiling for fines.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 03/03/2020 18:52

I and other women in the area have complained to Sefton Council about the flags. Despite this, they are not back up. SC need to explain why they jump to the tune of 1 random man but are ignoring so many women on the issue. It is just unacceptable.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/03/2020 18:52

I think the Green Party or the Council would be the data controllers. Not sure which.

Cwenthryth · 03/03/2020 18:53

Have screenshots. Submitted concerns via Green Party & Bristol city council websites. And tweeted people.

Needs looking into at least.

Doesn’t cover the Green Party in glory

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/03/2020 18:53

I hope Posie takes it to the ICO, if there has been a breach.
