Have just seen this on facebook and am totally taken aback. She is listed as a speaker here www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/womens-liberation-at-50-tickets-75905313837

Everyone of the other speaker if they go ahead and dont protest should be totally ashamed of themselves.

This is her tweet twitter.com/selina_todd/status/1233456777057964035

Some of the women speaking are those I have told I should and I do admire.

This sickness that is dividing women is so upsetting.

Not sure where or how we can show our disgust at this and make sure they know they do not speak for women.

Samira stated very clearly that her equal pay claim was a sex discrimination case, not a gender discrimination case.

Fuck me, so 2nd wave feminism is bad, and intersectional feminism must include men?

Unbelievable. What an insult to the women that this event was supposed to celebrate.

Sorry, for contact, the statements read out after the lunch break were jaw dropping.

And they would have allowed her speech to be read out - as long as it was made by her (male) boss. So no issue with the content that was supposedly terrifying and upsetting to TRAs?

This panel with the Feminist Fightback people is a complete disaster. They have no substance at all. Just meaningless waffle. Plus they have managed to insult the very women this event was supposed to celebrate.

And if you are running an event, and the afternoon before some speakers tell you they'll put out unless you sack some, you tell them to take a running jump, and just expand the time the remaining speakers have.

That’s as ludicrous as dubbing Gerry Adams’ voice was!

woman is an umbrella term under which we can all gather....

I'll remember that, next time it rains. Budge up Missus....

I can't help thinking that they just used Selina to get an audience

Typical umbrella - slight breath wind and it folds.

I agree. Watching the Fightback panel now and it’s vacuous puff. Surely no one would pay to hear this?

It really is utter drivel. The discussion on black feminism is interesting but the other speakers have nothing of substance to say. Yet again, I find myself observing that some mediocre people taken great pains to silence someone far more impressive than themselves. Hmm, why would that be, I wonder?

‘The feminist party was over and I hadn’t been invited’?

Did I just hear that right? Feminism isn’t a party (although some feminists do party hard) it’s a fight for liberation.

No one gets invited. You just show up. The black feminist speakers didn’t wait to be invited, they showed up and got involved and figured out how to adapt the fight to address their specific battles.

Roberta Hunter-Henderson refers to men disrupting a women's conference back in the day and doesn't seem to see that that is what is still happening.

I'm so glad I didn't actually go to this. Imagine being one of those women from WLM sitting through this today. Various speakers have insulted them and, moreover, been unable to offer any coherent thoughts about where modern feminism is at and what its aims are. I hope they're not left wondering why the fuck they bothered.

Can I urge everyone to go back and watch the beginning of that video as suggested upthread, with Julie Bindel's amazing objections from the audience (if it is indeed her). It's jaw-dropping watching.
