Have just seen this on facebook and am totally taken aback. She is listed as a speaker here www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/womens-liberation-at-50-tickets-75905313837

Everyone of the other speaker if they go ahead and dont protest should be totally ashamed of themselves.

This is her tweet twitter.com/selina_todd/status/1233456777057964035

Some of the women speaking are those I have told I should and I do admire.

This sickness that is dividing women is so upsetting.

Not sure where or how we can show our disgust at this and make sure they know they do not speak for women.

I see that they have edited the programme attached to the stream to remove Selina Todd from it.

ReinstateLangCleg · 29/02/2020 10:56

Has it started yet?

TorkTorkBam · 29/02/2020 11:01

Take the woman's labour then stop her sharing the rewards. What utter cocks.

prancingthroughlife.com/2015/02/11/why-im-done-defending-my-personhood-blackvoices/

There's a whole generation of women coming out of academia in the UK (and Ireland) who are immersed in US style identity politics which focuses disproportionately on race, sexuality and identity while giving class the barest nod. And they're poorly educated, have read hardly anything and are arrogantly dismissive of older women. It's depressing.

bedelia · 29/02/2020 11:04

It's heartening to see #istandwithselina trending on Twitter.

Shame there seems to be technical difficulties with the livestream. I was hoping to watch the introductions to see what the "official" explanation for Selina's deplatforming would be.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/02/2020 11:08

Technical difficulties or they don't want to show the world what is happening?

ReinstateLangCleg · 29/02/2020 11:14

OMG - they're asking for donations...

stumbledin · 29/02/2020 11:15

They have now started.

Astonished to hear News From Nowhere is there. No integrity any where any more.

Interesting, unless Selina Todd was speaking a lot other people have either been deplatformed or pulled out in protest.

ArranUpsideDown · 29/02/2020 11:17

Questions raised about Selena (DH says).

Mockersisrightasusual · 29/02/2020 11:17

"Women's Liberation at 50" - a celebration of the invention of tippex.

ReinstateLangCleg · 29/02/2020 11:19

Oh my Goddess. They're shameless. What the fuck.

stumbledin · 29/02/2020 11:19

Yeah! they are being challenged!

stumbledin · 29/02/2020 11:20

They are saying she wasn't going to speak she was just going to say thanks on behalf of the History Faculty.

This livestream.
Women historians are being told by other women that they can't speak!

Binterested · 29/02/2020 11:21

Shock Tippex Shock

Actual fucking Tippex. Unbelievable.

ReinstateLangCleg · 29/02/2020 11:21

She was on the programme!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/02/2020 11:22

Nice statement from the history faculty chair (who has pulled out in protest)

ReinstateLangCleg · 29/02/2020 11:22

If it was only for 2 minutes for her to speak, why in the hell would you de-platform Selena?

ReinstateLangCleg · 29/02/2020 11:23

You can't have it both ways! She's either so "heretical" that she can't be allowed to say anything, or IT WOULDN'T MATTER!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/02/2020 11:24

This is a shambles!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/02/2020 11:24

Hah, now they've said Selina can speak... Grin

TorkTorkBam · 29/02/2020 11:25

Is Selina there?

Kit19 · 29/02/2020 11:26

Oh god you’d almost feel for them if they weren’t so appallingly spineless 😆😆😆

ReinstateLangCleg · 29/02/2020 11:26

I'm really so unimpressed by the "organisers."
I really don't care about their "plight" in this situation.
They did this to her the DAY BEFORE THE CONFERENCE!
They then pretend they're being "magnanimous" by "allowing" her to attend as a delegate.
