One thing that's important from outside Scotland is the claim there's no evidence of adverse impact from self ID laws. Please do submit any experience or evidence in any country where either laws or policy capture has impacted women & girls.

It's an important point re. Publishing your response because it allows data analysis of the results, otherwise, the Scot Gov can deny the responses like they did in the previous consultation.

• Respond and use the terms used in headers, which will aid ANALYSIS.
• Those well versed in this know the key terms. Use them.
• PUBLISH your responses. This can be done anonymously

GinnyLane don't be intimidated by it. There is a whole lot of detail there but try and use the headings and use your own experience. if you are finding it too much do it in chunks or do the best you can.

I’m going to need to take a day off just to get this right. So many excellent sets of guidance notes. I’m in awe of the women who put this stuff together.

Also please do submit your own response even if you don’t live in Scotland. Primarily because we need you (TRA are canvassing worldwide for responses in support) but also because what happens here may ultimately have an effect on what happens at Westminster. The results of this consultation may well be used by politicians who support/oppose UK reform, for example.

This is impressively detailed and comprehensive. I'm still reading through the response for question 5.

It might be worth saying that the consultation is daunting and intimidating. If a govt truly wants to survey the general population, they have a responsibility to set out the questions clearly and in terms the general reader can understand.

It's not a consultation for just 'people who work in equalities' or academics, or specialists.

It's a consultation for everyone, and it should be accessible.

It should be accessible and so we can understand what it is about

It should be accessible and should be promoted to everyone that has an interest but like the first time around the Scottish Government have made it difficult to fill in, will not accept written statements and have said they will exclude responses that are offensive. They have also completely dismissed women's concerns and have not looked for any evidence to back up their own position.

This is why the guidance from Women and Girls in Scotland is so important for questions 4 and 5 because it lays out were the Scottish Government has gone wrong and asks for peoples own experiences to provide the evidence Scottish Government seems unable to find didn't look hard for

This is why it is important for all you lovely lot to complete this and publish the response. This means the evidence will be out in the public domain, even if you publish it anonymously, so Women and Girls in Scotland can commission an independent analysis of the responses

Exclude responses that are offensive. And do they define offensive? Is it 'disagreement'?

No they don't and that is worrying but if they are published then they can be seen and analysed so Scottish Government can be challenged
