Apparently coronavirus is more severe for men than for women.

They're reporting this based on sex.
Good thing they're not members of the Labour Party.

I wonder if RLB would consider this to be a reasonable time to discuss sex or whether it would be deemed to be transphobic.

So if you don’t think people can change sex Wotcha, do you think transwomen should be recorded as male for medical purposes?

I ask repeatedly because you came on this thread and LOL’d at the notion of people trying to make sure sex-based differences are acknowledged and pushing back against the ideology that such statements are transphobic. You think it’s funny for some reason. Yet you acknowledge there are biological differences between men and women. Aren’t you, therefore, in favour of maintaining the notion that biology exists, sex-based differences exist and it’s no laughing matter when ideology tries to convince the world otherwise?

Simple questions, I don’t know why you’re avoiding answering them...

If your medical treatment hinges on biological treatment , yes it's important to record as such.
Why does that stop trans men or trans women being able to be themselves though?

Has anyone said transwomen or transmen can’t be themselves? Not on this thread, not generally on this forum.

The problem is when everyone else is meant to accept transgender people as what they want us to accept them as when it’s in direct conflict with what we know them to be and the conflict of rights that generates.

If you think their sex should be recognised for medical purposes, but not for other reasons, such as access to single sex spaces, why the discrepancy? Where does it change over from being important to not important for you?

Exactly. It's the hyperbolic, overdramatic and black and white thinking so often demonstrated when women stand up for their rights.

Females have needs based on being female. Females cannot be transwomen, its not possible. They are a separate group and are entitled in some situations to their own spaces.

If any females under any circumstances having anything at all that is solely for females causes someone not female to feel they can't be themselves.... they're demonstrating a bit of a problem that they need to take responsibility for. 'I can't be happy unless ALL rights and provisions and even the class definition is removed from half the human race' isn't anywhere near the bounds of reasonability, or even rationality.

Everyone is free to be themselves. But material reality remains, and there are times it is significantly more relevant than how we see ourselves or wish to be seen by others.

Why is this even a controversial or confusing thought for anyone who has moved past their 10th birthday?

Nope.

Although I thought that transpeople didn't want to be 'themselves' - hence transitioning.

Wanting to be myself rather than what society expected of me based on my sex is the reason I'm a feminist.
