Today in Manchester there was a flashmob involving Trafford Rape Crisis performing that amazing Chilean "The rapist is you" chant. twitter.com/TraffordRC/status/1226210010683801600?s=19

Here in case you haven't seen it it is amazingly powerful (not the Manchester one)

It was protested by TRAs waving trans flags organised by Manchester Sisters Uncut who ironically describe themselves as feminists taking direct action for domestic violence services.

I mean WTF were they thinking?

That is the video I linked to isn't the Manchester one - I'm sure the Manchester one was powerful Blush

I saw a photo of 3 sad wee souls looking they they didn’t have a clue what was going on (‘they said we should come - where are the cookies they promised?’)

Lordfrontpaw · 08/02/2020 20:14

Sorry 4 - I missed one at the back. Dimwits.

Oldstyle · 08/02/2020 20:17

I wonder if they have any idea what they are protesting or why? Like that bloke protesting outside the Meghan Murphy event who was asked what the meeting was about. He didn't know. Rent a mob. Or, in this case, rent a couple of limp half-wits.

TheChampagneGalop · 08/02/2020 20:24

Look at these brave protesters:

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/02/2020 20:30

So, to summarize.

Feminists doing the demo "Rape is bad, rape culture is bad, we should work on tackling that"

Sisters Uncut "No it isn't, and no we shouldn't"?

Like, what possible justification is there for protesting a demo against rape? What message is it that these fuckwits think they're communicating?

Lordfrontpaw · 08/02/2020 20:48

SU are not what they were...

TwoHeadedYellowBelliedHoleDig · 08/02/2020 20:50

They were protesting against women getting together and having an opinion - any gathering of women, any opinion.

Lordfrontpaw · 08/02/2020 20:52

Really really don’t like women do they?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/02/2020 20:53

Pretty much everything SU do is baffling.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 08/02/2020 20:58

I've only ever heard of "sisters uncut" in the context of TRA protests. Is it a group of transwomen? Is "uncut" a reference to being non op?

omg... "from behind a hedge" killed me. I love it when people have perfect comic timing in writing. Grin

What utter wankers they are.

BINtersectionalFeminism · 08/02/2020 21:42

LOJ has mentioned supporting Sisters Uncut a few times. Just leaving that there.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 08/02/2020 21:52

According to one of them who replied to Glinner on twitter, "They were protesting because they are a trans exclusionary group - many of them were being extremely transphobic."
Of course, in true TRA fashion, no one could say what was transphobic about the protest. It just was.
My guess is that someone pointed a finger and shouted 'witch' and that was all the proof they needed. This whole thing is nothing more than gender McCarthyism.

aliasundercover · 08/02/2020 21:52

Can anyone explain this at all? Are the TRAs claiming that being raped is transphobic as rapists don't want to rape transwomen?

That might sounds both horrific and ridiculous, but everything else is transphobic now - maybe this as well?

Qcng · 08/02/2020 22:01

Fuck knows.
Women having opinions and speaking AT ALL is bad, deserving of punishment, using the word "woman" ever should be outlawed, and [redacted-word-people] should.... Just, get raped?

RE sisters Uncut, I naively thought after hearing their name they must be a group of feminists fighting against FGM... How wrong I was. The worst thing about FGM is how transphobic it is according to this lot. (Probably).

Are...Are transwomen seriously now saying rape and protesting rape is transphobic??...

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 08/02/2020 22:21

Can anyone explain this at all? Are the TRAs claiming that being raped is transphobic as rapists don't want to rape transwomen?

I dont think they're claiming anything at all other than generic accusations of 'transphobia'.
Based on the original tweet from Sisters Uncut, it looks as if their protestors turned up without having any clue what the event was about or who or what they were protesting against.
If that's not a metaphor for the state of trans activism, I don't know what is.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 08/02/2020 22:28

I think it just boiled down to them objecting to the 'wrong' kind of feminists being visible in public,
rather than any specifics

ArranUpsideDown · 08/02/2020 22:59

Does anybody ever get the sense that some groups are behaving indistinguishably from a group that prides itself on being governed by Oppositional Defiance Disorder?

ItsLateHumpty · 08/02/2020 23:48

One of the protesters has just tweeted an 'explanation' of why they were there, oh and apparently rape is feminist women's fault?

You want to protest rape culture understand where it comes from.

When you define women by their bodies

when you infantilise women

When you deny bodily autonomy

when you divide women into good and bad women

that's what creates rape culture.

7Days · 08/02/2020 23:54

Being kind, I'm wondering if that's what she meant to say.
Cringe

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/02/2020 23:56

Why do they

All write

Like this?

Is it meant

To make their points

Seem more profound?
