I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

Has @MNHQ offered any response to banning Lang yet?

RedToothBrush · 22/01/2020 07:47

Joss is trying to scare regular posters. It doesn't matter if its true or a lie, the intent is to intimate and silence because Joss can't win a debate on MN by any other means.

Anyway R0wantrees!!!!

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/01/2020 07:47

Does Lang being banned mean that she now gets to have cosy little chats with the mod team about who she wants removed from the site?

Again, if Joss is making all this up then all the mod team need to do is make that clear.

nettie434 · 22/01/2020 07:47

Agree with other posters about LangCleg being frank and direct but never remember reading a post that was personally offensive to anyone.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/01/2020 07:47

If the intent was to intimidate people into silence that didn't work out very well, did it?

BlouseAndSkirt · 22/01/2020 07:48

OMG, so JP is saying that @MNHQ conspire with PBPs to get posters removed?

Well that makes us all feel valued and safe, doesn’t it?

SHAR0N · 22/01/2020 07:49

You need to reconsider this decision @MNHQ

Lordfrontpaw · 22/01/2020 07:53

You believe anything that some people say? They can’t tell what the truth is!

testing987654321 · 22/01/2020 07:53

OMG, so JP is saying that @MNHQ conspire with PBPs to get posters removed?

That would be madness on MNHQ's part. They definitely need to make it clear why they are determined to silence women, because it definitely isn't in women's interests. They always argue that the aim is to make parents' lives easier. Unfortunately speaking the truth that it's not possible to change sex is hard, and it's a hard message for young people to hear. MNHQ are ultimately making all of our lives harder by pretending that it's possible to walk a middle ground.

teawamutu · 22/01/2020 07:56

To be fair, I wouldn't take JP's word on which day of the week it was.

SciFiScream · 22/01/2020 08:00

I had one weetabix with milk to make it soggy, 3 spoons of Greek yoghurt and raisins for brekkie. Yummy.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/01/2020 08:00

I do wonder what the moderators brief is - do they have a checklist or point system? Who double checks their decisions? Do they have time to consider motives and check for patterns of reporting?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 22/01/2020 08:04

Late to the party but gutted about Lang. Not cool, MNHQ, not cool.

Feel a bit giddy at ROwantrees return though GrinGrin

GenderfreeJoe · 22/01/2020 08:07

To be fair, I wouldn't take JP's word on which day of the week it was.
Not would I. He's loving all the drama of it. Sad little man.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 22/01/2020 08:07

To get the measure of this, all you have to do is look back at Lang's posts (measured, mature, helpful) and compare them to the repulsive gloating being indulged in by the charming Joss Prior.

Person banned by MN = sane, intelligent, well-informed.
Person thrilled by ban = true colours shown by shameless and revolting gloating.

Fuck sake, @MNHQ, wake up.

And Lang, if you are reading this, thanks for your recent advice by pm. I wasn't getting very far and was thinking about giving up, but I am so enraged by your ban that I am back on it tonight when I get home from work.

SarahTancredi · 22/01/2020 08:08

Hey R0

Great to see you back. Wish it had been under better circumstances.

Cwenthryth · 22/01/2020 08:08

Come on sort yourselves out @MNHQ, please can you issue a statement in response to the public allegation by a previously banned poster (for repeatedly trolling the FWR board) that @HebeMumsnet has been in discussion with them for a fortnight about which FWR posters to ‘keep an eye on’.

Being sanctioned for something that they won’t tell you what your crime was.....how Kafkaesque.

potter5 · 22/01/2020 08:08

I thought we lived in a democratic society? Free speech and all that? Obviously not!

birdsdestiny · 22/01/2020 08:09

I would be very happy with Lang as a banned poster having discussions with the mods on who to banGrin.

Ereshkigal · 22/01/2020 08:12

Ready to go, do you suppose breakfast references will be deleted again?

That is notable for the lack of a 🍌

xxyzz · 22/01/2020 08:14

Shame, adding my voice to say how helpful and informative I found Langcleg's posts, and to hope she will be reinstated.

DickKerrLadies · 22/01/2020 08:14

It reads to me like Joss is claiming to have friends on the inside. But Joss is a self-identified troll and a PBP so who knows.

BlouseAndSkirt · 22/01/2020 08:14

Tho’ to be fair the story from JP is that HebeMN ‘acknowledged the support’ that LangCleg is.

And ‘keeping an eye’, Big Brother or Big Fob Off?

RedToothBrush · 22/01/2020 08:15

Honestly, I'm not intimated by someone trying it on, on twitter. I view it as opportunistism, nothing more.

Best to view it like that.

Ereshkigal · 22/01/2020 08:16

Australia stands in solidarity with LangCleg.

Blimey. That's got to be day 8 in the Weetabix Week. Or something they did in 1984 before they got out the cage of rats.
