Self ID Stats

LizzyButterfly · 17/12/2019 20:49

Having looked at the stats on "self ID" in terms of reform of the Gender Recognition Act, information from other countries that have adopted this are quite revealing. Trans people who apply per annum vs the population really shows how little an issue this really is.

Ireland: 129pa, pop. 4.83M
Denmark: 279pa, pop. 5.6M
Norway: 706pa, pop. 5.32M

I really don't know why it's such a problem????

The GRA has nothing to do with the EA

It interacts with the EA and other legislation because it changes a person's legally recognised sex. That's what it's for.

boatyardblues · 17/12/2019 21:49

Oh, if only us silly women would just educate ourselves we’d be A-ok with this. Right? So effing patronising. 🙄

SarahTancredi · 17/12/2019 21:49

They hide in septic tanks and air vents to spy on and film women.

An online form is all their christmases come at once

Ibloodylovewomen · 17/12/2019 21:51

Do you really truly think that NO predatory males would get a GRC to get into a female only space Confused? Why wouldn't they Hmm?
Again, how many females are an acceptable level of collateral damage?

OldCrone · 17/12/2019 21:52

Anyway, do you really, truly think a man would get a GRC just to get into a woman only space???

Yes. According to people who work with prisoners, identifying as a woman in order to be transferred to a women's prison is quite popular. Particularly amongst sex offenders (as the stats show). I wonder why that would be?

SarahTancredi · 17/12/2019 21:53

And thank you for proving that living as a woman is bollocks. It's a biological reality that affects whether you even get allowed to make to term in uterus , whether you are taken home or thrown in the trash to die, or whether you get to go to school or shot .

HorseWithNoTimeForCis · 17/12/2019 21:54

Here we go.

LizzyButterfly · 17/12/2019 21:55

@SarhTancredi
"They hide in septic tanks and air vents to spy on and film women.

What??? So these men who hide in septic tanks and air vents will get a GRC so they can mingle? Why do you think they hide? Probably because they're scared of being caught. Do you think they'll put on a dress and be out in the open?

Raindrops17 · 17/12/2019 21:55

Some organisations are already allowing men into women's spaces on the basis a man says he identifies as a woman, no GRC required to prove this. How do you safeguard women and girls if all is required is for the man to say he is a woman? It's an open invitation for all the predatory males.

Kit19 · 17/12/2019 21:56

But they don’t need a GRC to do that OP that’s the point.

“Acceptance without question”‘means that any man can turn up I’m a previously female only space & go unchallenged. Signs telling ppl to use the changing space they feel most comfortable with for example. Nothing to stop a man deciding he feels most comfortable in the women’s fitting rooms

It’s not about trans ppl it’s about men having access to female spaces

My friends brother has decided they were a woman last year. No surgery, no hormones, not even adopting particularly female dress. He’s just grown his hair, wears make up & wears ‘feminine’ tops with jeans. Self ID says their Male body is entitled to be in any & all female only spaces. No!

HorseWithNoTimeForCis · 17/12/2019 21:56

I'm off to bed!

OldCrone · 17/12/2019 21:58

LizzyButterfly
What do you think a GRC is for? Why is it so important for transgender people to get one?

Raindrops17 · 17/12/2019 21:58

Do you think they'll put on a dress and be out in the open?

They won't need to put on a dress because under self ID men only have to say they are a woman to be allowed into women's spaces. This is the whole point... what is a woman? Someone who wears a dress?

OldCrone · 17/12/2019 21:59

I don't know what your concept of "live as a woman" means, I'm a woman but my experiences aren't the same as every other woman's

And Lizzy, can you explain how 'living as a woman' is different from 'living as a man'? Thanks.

Thelnebriati · 17/12/2019 21:59

Anyway, do you really, truly think a man would get a GRC just to get into a woman only space???
Predators spend years training to be priests, or doctors. So yes absolutely they would download a form from the internet and sign it to promise they really mean it when they say they are women.
Do you understand what 'self ID' is? You should do if you are supporting it.

I don't care if you don't feel like every other woman on the planet; I care if you are stopping other women being able to access resources they need because of their sex.

Ibloodylovewomen · 17/12/2019 22:01

Ugh. When the OP has clearly not thought any of this through in a coherent way, and yet has the audacity to start threads telling women how to think better, and doesn't answer questions. It's such a time waster Hmm.

justcly · 17/12/2019 22:02

I really don't know why it's such a problem?

@LizzyButterfly:

It's a problem because I have spent my entire adult life repelling unwelcome attention from the weaker sex, which my creepy bil says is because I am a lesbian and therefore "a challenge". Because I would like to go for a swim (or a piss) without having to fend off said attention. Because I would like my young daughters to be able to use changing rooms and toilets without running the risk of them running into some creep Yaniving about the place and offering to help them insert tampons. Get it?

LizzyButterfly · 17/12/2019 22:03

@HorseWithNoTimeForCis I'm off to bed too

Nah, it never happens does it? Thing is they never needed it anyway. Karen White, Dolatowski.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 17/12/2019 22:09

please can we stop saying ‘ahead of the law’ when it is against the law, in breach of the law, unlawful, etc.

Qcng · 17/12/2019 22:15

Lizzy There are examples of safekeeping failures, but these are not the fault of individuals, but the fault of the establishment

😂 Yeah, uh, no I'm pretty sure certain individuals know exactly what they are doing.
The establishment is following the very typical misogynistic path of not caring about women in the slightest.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 17/12/2019 22:15

There are examples of safekeeping failures, but these are not the fault of individuals

While certainly I'd hold the prison service responsible for letting Karen White into a women's prison I think suggesting that the individual themselves, ie. Karen White, isn't responsible for sexually assaulting women is a. ridiculous. b. offensive, and c. possibly a bit more revealing of your mindset than you had intended.

Ibloodylovewomen · 17/12/2019 22:17

Yaniving about lol!

SarahTancredi · 17/12/2019 22:18

Ultimately it hurts trans people too doesnt it?

All the " just getting on quietly with my life-ers" are fighting for services, appointments, and attitudes towards them brought on by the " hey mate we can go pee with the women now and they cant say shit-ers"
