As for the LGB Alliance I'm buggered if I can think of any reason why people who share the protected characteristic of sexual orientation should be prevented from organising on that basis to ensure support in law, healthcare, education or any other matter where they feel they may be subject to discrimination. Would be pretty homophobic to do so I reckon.

Hate crime hurts, hate crime is not acceptable. In any form directed at any person or group of people. Harder sanctions are needed to put a stop to it!

Anyway. Reminded me to throw some seashells onto beach that is AllianceLGB (and Vancouver Rape Relief) today.

They've put gender identity instead of gender reassignment.

They basically want it made illegal to state biological facts incase someone has hurt feelings. Hurt feelings are not a fucking crime. Hate crime needs to involve an actual crime.

A massive 250 signatures there.

Why should people with the protected characteristic of sexuality not be allowed to organise in defence of that sexuality? Not getting that one at all.

And not getting why women shouldn't be allowed to question the imposition of people who've been through male puberty in their sports, or people with male genitalia in prisons full of very vulnerable women.

Datalounge (gay chat board, hilariously funny, not safe for work) has had a couple of threads on the LGB Alliance, largely with very supportive comments. Most common comment is a variety of ‘we need this in my area/country’.

Sounds like defamation of LGB Alliance to me, also use of a slur which is regularly combined with threats of violence etc (and could well be considered "hate speech" itself if not for sex ridiculously bring the only characteristic not covered by the hate crime laws!).
Wonder whether it's worth reporting the petition, or better to leave it to stand (with all of its 250 signatures) to demonstrate the rubbish they're coming out with?

I imagine a lot of the people signing this have a paraphilia that they want to keep under the LGB human shield umbrella and they know that once trans is dissociated they'll be out on their arses too. Good riddance.

In the bad old days when it was illegal to be gay, the legislation only applied to gay men. Its never been illegal to be a lesbian.

So you can argue that this new bunch of 'civil rights activists' are fighting for a new way to oppress women who are same sex orientated.

Gay conversion looks more like fascism than civil rights to me.

People need to study the law. The lgbtq is decriminalised. It is not deligilised. Which means it is no longer a criminal offence to be homosexual although it's still illegal just not punishable. Thats the law. If the law was to change then all outher kinds of adverse sexuality will come out. That is what the law is trying to avoid atm.
