Not sure he's worth the attention. I think the petition was set up around the same time as the crowd-funder was suspended, so he could have been behind it.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is part of an attempt to publicise his petition, which hasn't been doing particularly well. It's so badly worded, it's unlikely to be listened to, even if he does get it off the ground.

His Pride in the summer was controversial because the main sponsor was British Aerospace. Some people tried to protest and were thrown out.

He's def behind the petition - his name is at the top of it.

Pride UK has turned into some sort of corporate merry-go-round that is so far from it's own roots, it's on the moon now. British Aerospace is appropriate

No, I don't think using their own dirty tactics is the right way to fight this. I am willing to challenge specific things that are said but not to try to close down events.

So am I right in thinking, they want to criminalise lesbian, gay and bi people meeting up without trans people, and they also want to criminalise feminism?

There are lots of trans groups and events like trans pride, and everyone is happy for them to have those. Why can't LGB people and women be extended the same courtesy?

I wouldn't want it shut down Countess but I get your point - there is a session which is an AIDS vigil and I think the event overall is important - I would like the venue to be made aware of the petition and the views of the petition creator.

Maybe the right approach is just to ignore him.

Thank you Saltovinegar! It really does seem like they are aiming to criminalise feminism by trying to reframe it as 'hate speech' because they know the public wouldn't outright agree to criminalise feminism. It's all about the use of language isn't it.

If there were references to "TERFs" and the "LGB Alliance" in the Petition they have gone now.

It is still insane though!

So ostensibly a petition to outlaw LGB Alliance has had to remove all reference to LBG Alliance, and is now a petition that says stop the (un-named) haters? Awesome.

No objection to the petition still being up in the new format, getting few enough signatures to make it quite clear there is no support for what he is proposing.
