He has over 13 million followers. This is astounding. He's untouchable too. Because he's male. And this whole thing is about male privilege isn't it. They're scared of him but they'll come after us.

Ricky is very cleverly using comedy to a)highlight how ridiculous the pronoun obsessives are and b)to raise a laugh. There's a serious side to it though for him, I think. He doesn't buy into it and thinks it's silly.

If Joan Rivers were still alive, I'd love to hear her thoughts on our current climate. She usually didn't hold back or care if she offended.

Double down is just maintaining a viewpoint. The bullying can't dent Gervais.

What does 'double down' mean? I just can't work it out. It seems to either mean redouble efforts to do something, or to make a lot of effort to pretend that you didn't do what you actually did and were witnessed doing?

My interpretation, flo, is that you maintain your viewpoint, but more so. Usually in the teeth of opposition.

I'm proud to say that I know him personally and he's one of the kindest, most sincere people I've ever met. His humour isn't for everyone but he's very honest and works tirelessly for animal welfare.
