Constituency Labour Party approves motion supporting women's rights and WPUK. Respectful of trans issues (though the lobby is claiming otherwise...) Vote was 46 to 29, so a clear majority.

I can't easily make links, but see Twitter.

Thank you, Hornsey and Wood Green!!

Bit of good news for us all.

Well done to the organisers and supporters! Very reasonable motion, too. Hope others follow suit.

thirdfiddle · 25/10/2019 15:56

I can't find it - could someone be kind enough to put a link?

stillathing · 25/10/2019 15:58

Absolutely hoping others follow suit. Would love to be able to vote Labour again.

OkayGoooouuuuuullllll · 25/10/2019 16:02

Me too @stillathing

cwg1 · 25/10/2019 16:17

Apols for lack of link. I think looking for @HWGYoungLabour will get you there - they're not amused, but lots of GCers tweeting for women in response.

Honestly, how they see something so reasonable as bigotry is beyond me.

"infiltrated"
Wow.

Well done, Hornsey and Wood Green CLP!!
Fraggling · 25/10/2019 17:00

'we were told that male bodies in women's spaces endangers women- this is transphobia'

Erm.

MonnaLIza · 25/10/2019 17:06

:)

Siameasy · 25/10/2019 17:41

Cor that really is something-a democratic process asking simply for discussion is met with such vitriol. “No debate” in action. So many are being peaked now.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 25/10/2019 18:08

this is brilliant. so good to see people waking up and realising they can't let this slide

jackiebrisset · 25/10/2019 18:22

THE RESOLUTION

Well done, Hornsey and Wood Green CLP!!
jackiebrisset · 25/10/2019 18:24

Tottenham CLP claims the resolution makes them "unsafe" and Labour students (is this Madigan?) asserts they they intend to overrule a democratic vote and instead impose their will and get their own way regardless of what the majority wants.

Well done, Hornsey and Wood Green CLP!!

what a fantastic motion, balanced, sympathetic and constructive

anyone who has an issue with that is really not on the level

Is this the same one, seems to be from a couple of days ago.

OkayGoooouuuuuullllll · 25/10/2019 18:46

The stamping of feet on that twitter thread is something to behold.

thirdfiddle · 25/10/2019 18:46

Ah, found it now. It's a sensible and extremely mild proposal. Not GC as such, just saying women have the right to talk and organise. Damn right they do. The young labour woke club are not getting much sympathy on twitter are they?

ApplejackCriesOnTheInside · 25/10/2019 19:21

Hornsey and Wood Green MP Catherine West is noisily TWAW, as was her Lib Dem predecessor Lynn Featherstone, so it's interesting to see some pushback from the CLP. Tottenham (next door, MP David Lammy who IIRC was the minister in charge of the GRA) was the CLP whose delegates were publicly split on this issue at conference - gender critical delegate spoke from the floor then young woke bloke shrieked about transphobia from the platform.

MockersthefeMANist · 25/10/2019 19:23

All the verbs and adjectives in the resolution seem innocuous. So it appears to be the mention of WPUK by name that gets them all a-tizzy.

cwg1 · 25/10/2019 19:45

Many thanks for links and screen shots.

Verbs and adjectives?? Tut, tut - there's only one part of speech that matters Grin

Brilliant Grin

Apollo440 · 25/10/2019 21:15

My goodness how they squeal. I honestly think they will implode once everyone ignores them and asks questions.

teawamutu · 25/10/2019 23:17

That twitter thread is bloody awesome. Jonny should feel rather honoured to have his arse handed to him by Jane Clare Jones but sadly I suspect it was wasted on him.

I don't recognise a lot of the names. This is starting to get a bit of traction, isn't it?

ChattyLion · 26/10/2019 05:03

Thank you for posting that entirely reasonable, sensible, absolutely unobjectionable resolution here and on Twitter so that everyone can see what it says. Zero transphobia in there but some people seem to very very strongly object to the distinct lack of misogynistic content. Thank you to everyone in that CLP that got it passed. Flowers

CLPs everywhere should adopt this now in solidarity with women’s rights and good community relations.

Helpfully those self-important Young Labour misogynists trying to whip up hatred of the ‘vile transphobes’ Hmm have also pointed out in their tweet, that this one is the biggest CLP in the country. So that makes this even more of an excellent achievement. Now let’s see all the other CLPs follow suit.
