I am perhaps overthinking this but a few questions:

  1. do we think that bin owner does not have a green bin but has filled the blue bin (hopefully mis-colouring a bin does not breach mn guidelines Grin) with green rubbish and is expecting the bin collectors to accept the self-id and treat the bin as a green bin?
  1. If the blue bin that identifies as a green bin is nonetheless filled with blue waste should the bin collectors nonetheless collect the waste as though it is green waste because to do otherwise would be [insert the equivalent word for transphobia towards self identifying bins]?
  1. If I begin to assist bins that I pass with finding their true selves and happen to use my big maker pen to label them with the colour that they self-identify as - will their owners then be guilty of the [insert equivalent xxxphobia word again] if they continue to fill them according to their original colour?
Debinaround · 04/10/2019 10:34

Trans green bins are green bins #nodebate

Bunch of trans(bin)phobes

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 04/10/2019 10:36

To be honest I'm confused by the whole thing as round here blue bins are for recycling, green for food waste and much smaller.

Lamahaha · 04/10/2019 12:27

Where I live in Ireland the bins are totally woke.

Our blue bins are for green rubbish, and the green bins for household.
It's the same over in Northern Ireland.
We are far ahead of you TERFS.

Ounce · 04/10/2019 12:30

I think you’ll find that’s BERFS.

LangCleg · 04/10/2019 12:32

To be honest I'm confused by the whole thing as round here blue bins are for recycling, green for food waste and much smaller.

Our cis bins are: grey wheelie; green all-purpose recycling; green paper and glass recycling; blue organic recycling.

I'm scared I live in a western colonialist recycling area now.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 04/10/2019 12:32

I'm not sure what our black general waste bins say about us. I daren't ask.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 04/10/2019 12:35

I saw it on an otherwise-woke FB group I'm in.
they are usually shit-hot on being right on but every so often something like this gets posted and everyone agrees/laughs/joins in

(so it all seems like very superficial wokeity)

MorrisZapp · 04/10/2019 12:35

The Sun asked that back in the 80s. Apparently leftie nutters in Haringey banned black bin bags because of racism. The same nutters then went ahead and cancelled Christmas.

You'll have noticed that, as there hasn't been a Christmas in Britain since 1994.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 04/10/2019 12:36

I thought it was Birmingham that cancelled Christmas with their Winterval.

NotBadConsidering · 04/10/2019 12:42

I googled “transgender bin”. Got a lot of German hits.

“Ich bin transgender!” said JFK that time once.

MockersthefeMANist · 04/10/2019 12:46

The "Loony Left" stuff was a response to the declining impact of the earlier trope that all Lefties were agents of Moscow. It was masterminded by David Hart and the Freedom Association and was a collection of exaggerations, misinterpretations and ordinary decent lies.

The (colour) green bin liners were made of recycled plastic, whereas the black ones needed new plastic.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 04/10/2019 12:48

Ah, so like the Winterval story, they've taken a kernel of truth and twisted it out of all recognition. Sounds about right.

ARoombaOfOnesOwn · 04/10/2019 12:49

My feBINism will be BINtersectional or it will be bullshit.

MockersthefeMANist · 04/10/2019 12:52

Another one that people will still tell you about is "Baa-Baa Green Sheep," which was a word game for kids: Black Sheep becomes Green Sheep, becomes Green Dogs, Becomes Becomes Becomes, until you were back to Black Sheep.

Also, chalkboards were not blackboards because they were not necessarily black, some were green (colour) because it was less refelctive and easier to read, and because whiteboards were wipeboards because that is what they are.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 04/10/2019 12:55

Ba Ba Rainbow sheep is a real thing though, but i doubt it's because of racism.

TiredofthisBS · 04/10/2019 12:56

BERF's 😂 @Ounce

Datun · 04/10/2019 13:42

This really has been the most bizarre experience of my life, watching the top down attempt to impose complete fucking nonsense about "gender" on the general population, but it kind of feels like maybe we've hit the point where enough people have noticed that the inevitable end is in sight?

I think you might be right.

Jumping the shark with all the 'literally a woman' bollocks was the beginning.

Maybe the political lobbying groups weren't expecting a whole bunch of wankers to do that?

Antibles · 04/10/2019 13:45

a man sent a dk pic to a trans woman who sent a dk pic back Grin

SisterWendyBuckett · 04/10/2019 14:02

Ba Ba Rainbow sheep is a real thing though, but i doubt it's because of racism.

It was in my neck of the woods, when my kids were small. But that was in the 90s before the Rainbow cultural revolution exploded all over the shop.

terryleather · 04/10/2019 14:09

Our bins are old school metal ones with lids...perhaps they are non-binary...Hmm

MrsFogi · 04/10/2019 14:24

I think a lot of assumptions are being made about bins. All our bins are black - it got so confusing that I ordered labels for them so that I knew where to put what without having to open them (the only obvious one was the small black one for compostable waste, the other three are just black). I now realise I may have mis-labelled them, the one marked paper may actually "feel" that it is a "metal/plastic/glass" bin. How to tell? Clearly looking at the contents is not an option (that would the equivalent at looking at genitals to work out sex - which we all know is a big no no nowadays).

As an aside, to make matters worse and bring me into the realms of literal violence, when I ordered the stickers unfortunately I didn't realise the measurements were in inches rather than centimetres so my bins sport the most enormous labels ever seen on a bin (I suspect the neighbours think I am totally bonkers).

MrsFogi · 04/10/2019 14:24

I think this thread should be on the weekly round up.
Has a feminist thread ever made it to that email? Hmm

LikeothersIamjustme · 04/10/2019 14:43

I don't want to be controversial but I do feel for the bin collectors. Once more bins find out that they are not constrained by their outer plastic colour and that they can be their true brave and stunning selves containing what they know to be their rightful contents collection will be a nightmare. I suppose it is all worth it in the name of progress and more importantly, acceptance without exception.

MrsFogi · 04/10/2019 14:54

LikeothersIamjustme - for goodness sake do you know nothing about diversity and inclusion? The bin collectors will just have to get on with it and ensure they don't offend any bins (or they will be sued). And if they complain they need to be shouted down and hounded out of their jobs.
