I know I’ve seen this somewhere but can’t find it - can anyone help?

It’s a feminist critique of comments like ‘I don’t care what Wendy in accounts says’ or ‘Yes, this is politically important, Tina in finance’

Basically taking an age- related name and using it to shame and belittle women through assuming homogenous behaviour.

Does anyone know what I’m on about?

First time I saw this name denigration tactic was the eighties, men on the radio and comedy writers using Bruce to mean Gay.

The purpose has always been to display dominance and contempt.

I've worked in customer services and by far the most likely demographic to subject serving staff to a rude, blustering, red-faced complaint was middle-aged men. Women were perhaps more likely to ask to speak to the manager and then direct their displeasure at them. I know which approach I preferred.

Funnily enough, I had to ask to speak to somebody senior last week (Scottish Power, useless company) and the member of staff actually scoffed at me. I wondered at the time if he suddenly considered me a 'Karen'.

But actually, I asked politely and the request helped me to resolve my issue - something he couldn't help me with.

Yes, have noticed this loads. Karen, Jan, Susan etc. Ageist, classist, sexist. It’s pretty disgusting how this woke movement not only tolerates but actively encourages ageism and sexism which are both protected under the Equality Act that they love banging on about. Do these imbeciles think they are never going to get old themselves? The disrespect is staggering. I am under 40 but I think it’s disgusting to just dismiss and write off all the work and effort that older feminists put in, giving us so many rights that we today take for granted.
