  • Tories are diabolical for Women's Rights. They are in power.

By all means start a thread to discuss them then.

BeMoreMagdalen · 03/09/2019 17:26

Wondering why someone is bringing up an unrelated topic like Boris Johnson's sex life on a thread about the Green Party isnt 'policing the thread'.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/09/2019 17:37

I probably should have refrained from challenging the incorrect use of 'Incel', or taken it to Pedants' Corner. Blush apologies ...

woman19 · 03/09/2019 17:52

Why are you wasting time on a party not in power?

woman19 · 03/09/2019 17:54

And which actions are forth coming to solve this issue with the Green Party?

littlbrowndog · 03/09/2019 17:54

Am not sure who is in power anymore 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

woman19 · 03/09/2019 17:56

Can't help you there, then littlebrowndog.

BeMoreMagdalen · 03/09/2019 18:16

Having a conversation isn't wasting time. I'm talking all the time to friends who are Green Party members. Usually about actual Green issues, and discussions about why this kind of shit makes them as viably electable as Monster Raving Loonies is very valuable.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 03/09/2019 18:21

I’m struggling here. A ‘self-identifying non-male’ is what exactly? Non-male must be female but self-identifying female means biological male?

Popchyk · 03/09/2019 18:52

Tawny, a self identifying non-male means someone who is biologically female, but it excludes all those females who identify as men or non-binary.

or

a biological male who identifies as either a woman or non-binary.

So it is a grouping of mostly females but includes some males who claim to be women or non-binary some or all of the time.

The females not in the above group are in the self identifying non-female group. Because they identify as men or as non-binary.

In attempting to smash the binary, the Greens have come up with a binary system. Based on criteria that they are unable to define. They have no definitions for male or female so their system is based on self identifying as the opposite of the thing that they can't define.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/09/2019 19:05

I’m struggling here I doubt you're the only one. It all seems very worthy and totally pointless.

ThePurported · 03/09/2019 19:18

It's the Green Party's woke version of positive discrimination. They are trying to ensure that non-male gender identities are well-represented in the party.
A self-identifying non-male means anyone whose gender identity is not male.

Men who don't identify as male are included in this definition.
Transmen are excluded - male privilege, innit.
Women who identify as cis or nonbinary women are included.
Other women might be accepted in a self-identifying non-male role as long as they are willing to play along with this bullshit.

OhHolyJesus · 03/09/2019 19:28

I'm working with and vote for the Greens, in spite of this nonsense, as I know some sensible switched on people trying to take it back from this TRA agenda.

It's a small party, AC has gone (and is bidding for a role in Labour as of today it seems) and as it was overcome once it can be overcome again, from the other side.

LDs, Labour and WEP is lost and I'm not voting for Boris even if he is GC (which I doubt) so it's Green or nothing for me, it's the best of a bad lot and far from ideal but it's where we are.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/09/2019 19:31

So where is this crap coming from? Who is pushing it?

ErrolTheDragon · 03/09/2019 19:59

OhHolyJesus demonstrates why it's not a waste of time to discuss the Greens. Apart from people who've always been their supporters, there's such disenchantment with the other parties that they might get a few more seats if there's an election soon, and they might end up holding the balance of power, at least in part.

I might have thought they were the least worst option, but this complete batshittery has persuaded me otherwise.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/09/2019 20:00

So where is this crap coming from?

Brighton?

Popchyk · 03/09/2019 21:02

Martina Navratilova retweeted this.

Then she retweeted it again with her own comment "Another yikes".

Good when such a legendary self identifying non-male tennis player takes an interest. Gets the word out.

OP posts:
OhHolyJesus · 03/09/2019 21:13

I see your point Errol it's really bad, it's something I struggle with, it's utter batshit as you say, I wish it could be just put aside, even just for a week to focus on the actual impending doom of the climate emergency, I really do.

Honestly I still can't quite believe it's come to this but as the climate crisis doesn't really care about how you identify I'm going to go with the party that might just have a slim chance of stretching out our existence in order to resolve all this craziness.

The TRA/MRA are strong in the Greens but I think it's far from over.

testing987654321 · 03/09/2019 21:15

I don't know or care what a self-identifying non-male is. Anyone who uses such ridiculous language designed to confuse won't get my vote.

aliasundercover · 03/09/2019 21:22

Oh god.

I’ve voted Green for the last few elections. I didn’t agree with everything they said, but they seemed mostly nice and mostly harmless. However, I cannot possibly vote for a party that takes this sort of stuff seriously.

For the first time in my life it’ll be a local single-issue campaigner or a spoilt ballot.

ConcreteUnderpants · 03/09/2019 22:22

I am troubled by the references to the opposite of 'male' and 'female' since male and female are biological terms which do not exist. And if they don't exist, then how can self-identifying as the opposite exist?

That's what got me, Popchyk
My head hurts. I don't think my brain can cope with all this fuckery on a school night.

Beamur · 03/09/2019 22:27

I showed the OP to my DH and asked him what it meant.
He couldn't answer...he's someone who would vote Green but thinks this is just silly. That's a potential vote lost Green Party.
Why can't they just say Co-chair (Eastern Region)?

ErrolTheDragon · 03/09/2019 22:49

Why can't they just say Co-chair (Eastern Region)?

Indeed. And if they feel the need to assure people that they've got sufficient 'non-men' (Hmm) in their upper echelons then post photos.

It's utter lunacy. How on earth can I vote for a party who cannot communicate basic facts clearly?
