Woman seeking others to practice her sexology techniques on

Sorry for the weird subject header but this is bizarre...

A friend of mine, a young lesbian, is a member of a lesbian social group which has been a real life-line for her. She's made friends and received a lot of support thanks to the women in the group. I'm not part of it but I know some of the members and they're good, positive, supportive women.

Today my young acquaintance received a PM from one of the group whom she has met and whom I'll call L. L is apparently training to be a holistic sexologist and is looking for volunteers on whom she can practice. It involves breathing techniques and intimate touching, including anal massage. The message makes it clear that L will be fully clothed and rubber-gloved up at all times and that she will not be providing emotional support or sexual satisfaction: this is about her learning how peoples' bodies work and what makes some people feel sexual. L welcomes everyone to volunteer regardless of sex, gender or body.

I seem to remember a thread a few weeks ago about sex cults where women were lured in by the promise of yoga and breathing techniques and discovering their sexuality, only to be exploited. Alarm bells are ringing loudly.

The young lesbian who received this invitation asked me what I thought and I've told her to say no and tell some of the older women what's happened. The whole thing — the imbalance of power, the activity going on behind closed doors, the 'but you volunteered for anal massage so you can't complain' aspect of it horrify me. And then I began wondering about the person who sent it. They are a member of a lesbian group and one presumes they are female and a lesbian — but who really knows?

Anyone encountered anything like this elsewhere? Do I need to flag it up to the group or is this kind of intimate touching training perfectly legit?

The whole thing sounds completely insane. Why would anyone volunteer for that?!

Jellylegsni · 21/07/2019 19:38

I guess if everyone involved is over 18 and consenting then it's "ok" but it sounds very dodgy. I would be informing the group leader if there is one. At least to make sure they're aware of the situation. That kind of thing (pm-ing group members regarding activities unrelated to the group) might be not allowed anyway, regardless of the content. For example I know a few Facebook groups don't allow those aloe Vera sellers and stuff to pm people or advertise on the board.

thatdamnedwoman · 21/07/2019 19:44

Thanks for confirmation that I'm not a pearl-clutching prude. There was a time when you could assume that the members of lesbian social groups were female and lesbian but now... well, perhaps I'm just being very suspicious. No idea of the rules of the group but I'm going to pass the info on to a couple of the older, stroppier, feminist dykes in the group and let them handle it.

I mentioned it to another friend who's just called and they said they'd be really worried about cameras and ending up on PornHub. Sometimes I'm so grateful to be old and past all that.

Sounds like a good plan. The porn-hub thought hadn't crossed my mind but definitely isn't beyond the realms of imagination Sad

LassOfFyvie · 21/07/2019 19:59

L is apparently training to be a holistic sexologist and is looking for volunteers on whom she can practice

Can't she practice on her instructor and fellow trainees? Or on a patient (aka anyone daft enough to sign up for this) of her instructor, with that patient's consent?

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 21/07/2019 20:06

That's really weird and I'd be suspicious too. Definitely raise it!

Chickenish · 21/07/2019 20:26

🤮wrf

Doyoumind · 21/07/2019 20:26

I can guarantee there's no accredited course to be a holistic sexologist! It sounds beyond suspicious.

Chickenish · 21/07/2019 20:26

*wtf

Michelleoftheresistance · 21/07/2019 20:29

…. yeah where's the paperwork? And the name and contact details of her course leader and supervisor? This would be standard for any holistic practice student approaching people for case study work. Can the supervisor confirm that the student is properly insured to do this case work? What form will supervision take? What about the standard chaperone procedures and are they being offered for anyone who would like them?

And why are volunteers not being found through the organisation/course leader when it's something so very open to question?

I'd be surprised at any student approaching case work volunteers for hands off/fully clothed holistic therapies without all this offered and ready to hand, if it's a properly run and accredited course.

Lwmommy · 21/07/2019 20:34

You can get a diploma apparently www.ukcht.uk/diploma_sexology.html

Angryresister · 21/07/2019 20:41

Just say no.

HeadintheiClouds · 21/07/2019 20:44

It sounds like Brian and his yoni.

Coyoacan · 21/07/2019 20:45

I'm so glad that you are looking out for your friend here. That is beyond creepy.

HumberElla · 21/07/2019 20:57

Yup, Brian sprang to my mind too!

I think this person would be better to practice with their course peer group. Much better way to share learning and, of course, protect themselves from false or vexatious accusations about them being a horrible creepy sex pest.

donquixotedelamancha · 21/07/2019 21:03

What about the standard chaperone procedures and are they being offered for anyone who would like them?

I think they charge extra for someone to watch :-)

This is not suspicious, it is overtly abusive. It is simply a request to perform sex acts framed by an incredibly silly ruse. It may be that the 'professional' framing is a kink thing, a way of compensating for insecurity or a real attempt to prey on the vulnerable (presumably very vulnerable to fall for it).

Your friend needs to send this communication to the people organising the group, requesting that this predator is removed and that they issue a generalised warning about inappropriate conduct not being tolerated.

You can get a diploma apparently www.ukcht.uk/diploma_sexology.html

From the course outline:

Module 1: Cultural and Historical Perspectives on Sexuality
1.1 Global Cultural Perspectives and Influence of Abrahamic Religions
1.2 Sexuality across Major Geographic Regions and Cultural Traditions
1.3 Science of Sexuality and Key Figures in Sexology
1.4 Future Extrapolation in Sexuality and Politics

There are many more modules, but no indication of a requirement to shove fingers up a stranger's arse.

sackrifice · 21/07/2019 21:09

Yes she needs to stay well clear.

FormerMediocreMale · 21/07/2019 21:18

I'm going to pass the info on to a couple of the older, stroppier, feminist dykes in the group and let them handle it.

Definitely let them know.

It might be worth considering reporting to police? This person could/probably is trying this on with others, it's creepy, explicit and predatory.

Doyoumind · 21/07/2019 22:08

Anyone can set up a 'college'. It's not offering proper courses accredited by any professional organisations.

S1naidSucks · 21/07/2019 22:13

I’d love her to set up a meeting with the weirdo and get one if the older lesbians to turn up. Just imagine the look on ‘her’ face if the older woman says the young’un couldn’t make it, but she’s up for it. You know this creep only wants young meat. shudder

FannyCann · 21/07/2019 22:13

It sounds like Brian and his yoni

So I searched Brian and Yoni...ShockGrinGrin

And now there is a new thread which looks suspiciously as if Brian is back!

arranbubonicplague · 21/07/2019 22:13

It sounds like Brian and his yoni.

I see references to this from time to time. I think ??? and wonder if I should google.

Then I remember that googling unusual phrases or words from MN rarely ends well for me. Blush

Red flags for sure!!

@hoodathunkit is the poster who posted the tantric yoga sex cults thread.

ByGrabtharsHammarWhatASaving · 21/07/2019 22:36

This is it I think:

Lots of interesting resources on it.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 21/07/2019 22:42

Red flags everywhere with this OP. Hopefully you've been able to raise concerns ?
