I know I'm not a favourite of this site but thought I would still drop this here for women who might be interested in joining us in riding for all the women murdered by men they knew since 2016. link.medium.com/H3c3ex9cwX

Jeanhatchet I think what you do to remember murdered women is amazing and well done for standing up to the TRAs. You’ll always be a favourite amongst the GC women here. 🌹

Sexnotgender · 14/06/2019 18:29

Different opinions or not I think what you do is amazing.

littlbrowndog · 14/06/2019 18:32

Jean

Thank you so much for rember ing the women that were murdered

💐

Gone but never forgotten

S1naidSucks · 14/06/2019 18:36

Mind you, considering what the little MRA visitor, I’ve seen responding on your article, you’d better be careful you’re not beaten, stabbed, strangled or worse by the bikes. Actually, maybe women should stay in the house, in case we get ran over by a bus or car. What a horrible little excuser of male violence, he is. It doesn’t matter how he words it, you can still hear him screaming NAMALT, while spitting on the keyboard.

beeyourself · 14/06/2019 18:57

You'll always be a big favourite of mine Jean Smile. Looking forward to the Manchester branch of the ride.

R0wantrees · 14/06/2019 19:06

Jean Its going to be a great event.
Thank you for organising it & for all you do for women.

JustAnotherWoman · 14/06/2019 19:16

Favourite of mine Jean. your work to highlight the impact of male violence made me realise we still needed feminism long before my awakening to the trans problem on twitter and long before I found my way here.
Whilst I wasn't fully in agreement with all your views at the start as time has gone on and my awareness grown I've realised you are right.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 14/06/2019 19:29

We don't always have to agree with everything you or any of us say Jean. We're not a hive mind, no matter what the misogynists say.
I've huge admiration for your rides and have contributed on a number of occasions.
Hope that this next ride is a success. Flowers

BertrandRussell · 14/06/2019 19:31

Certainly a favourite of mine.

S1naidSucks · 14/06/2019 19:31

Btw, dies anyone know if there’s a Belfast one?

Voice0fReason · 14/06/2019 23:39

Many of us think you're amazing.
I can't join the ride but I can dust off my exercise bike and join in remotely.

Erythronium · 15/06/2019 00:06

I think it's wonderful that you remember women who have been killed by men by doing bike rides for them. Good luck with the mass bike ride. I'll be supporting it.

BlackeyedGruesome · 15/06/2019 00:14

I have said before that I was cm from being one of your women, so thanks for riding.

Thank God for peripheral vision and lightning fast reflexes.

2BthatUnnoticed · 15/06/2019 00:32

I think what you are doing is great Jean. You’ve raised awareness on such an important issue. I’m not in the UK but supporting from afar. Thank you Flowers

Jeanhatchet · 15/06/2019 10:49

Thanks for kind comments women. I wasn't sure whether to post or not.

Re Belfast ride ... no one has offered to organise one yet but I hope they will!

Riding on exercise bikes is going to be a fab way to take part. X

I'll be thinking of this while I'm out on my bike today

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 15/06/2019 10:53

Looking forward to it. X

R0wantrees · 15/06/2019 10:53

So glad you did! Its such an important event.

I noticed that WPUK have posted your information about it
(for anyone like me who has maxed out their Medium article allowance)

(extract)
Women will also ride from exercise bikes in their own homes. Women will ride from around the world. Women will ride alone at the same time. Women will use wheelchairs, trikes or even push a bike if they cannot ride one. All will carry a murdered woman’s name with them. All will carry the weight of her death in their hearts. All will be women.

It is absolutely vital that this mass bike ride will be women-only. It is essential to the project that we acknowledge the sexed nature of this crime. It is vital that statistical integrity is attached to the figures. Men murder women because they are women.

In objection to the fact that I have said that only women will ride, today I had a man offer to strangle me. He negotiated his price openly with another man on the internet. The first man had stated he would pay for someone to shove my bike down my throat.

My crime? To say that a ride for murdered women would be attended only by other women. Women have to be allowed to self-organise. There are times when this is the right thing to do. " (continues)

Jean its beyond appalling that you received violent threats by men over this. Speaks volumes about so much, especially how important the event is. Flowers

loveyouradvice · 15/06/2019 11:07

I am confused ... why is jeanhatchet not a favourite of these pages?

I have read only positive comments about you on here Jean - and this is how I first learnt of you and what you do. So so powerful.

And as a woman I am so grateful to you for keeping this so clear and present in people's minds

I have a disability but if I am well enough in September I will join your peloton. And meanwhile I am sharing it widely.

These women and how they died will not be forgotten

DanaPhoenix · 15/06/2019 11:10

Well I have to say that I'm disappointed.....
disappointed that I will be travelling in Europe (ok I'm excited about that) when this is happening.

I got quite excited and fully intended to join in here down under and make use of my birthday gift (a retro bike with basket) that I'm ashamed to say I've still yet to ride. Then I saw the date Sad.

Still I will keep you all in my thoughts, for a safe and successful ride.

Don't let the haters get you down. Every day more and more people are seeing the reality behind the mask. xx

ShowOfHands · 15/06/2019 11:25

I am in Norfolk and keeping everything crossed that a Norfolk ride is organised. I'll ride that day anyway and so will my dd but would like to be with other women if possible.

This is so important Jean and I'm sorry you've faced such criticism and attack.

ZebrasAreBras · 15/06/2019 11:33

Jean, you're a favourite of mine - I think what you do is amazing.

sackrifice · 15/06/2019 11:41

Jean you are a favourite of mine.

Jeanhatchet · 15/06/2019 11:55

@aliasundercover I'm just about to go out myself. I'm riding for Frances Hubbard. Her husband stabbed her multiple times - his attack was so violent he had to be shot with rubber bullets by police officers.

Excuses "mental health" "out of character"... "always seemed a lovely couple" "no risk to wider public"

Unless you're a woman living with a man of course. That's pretty risky given that a man murders woman once every 3 days on average.

Frances was 81. Ride for her with me? Think of her?

Jeanhatchet · 15/06/2019 11:57

@ShowOfHands someone has mentioned a Norfolk ride. All you need is to get your bikes - turn up at 1pm. Carry the name of a woman from a list I'll put out closer to the day on your back. Ride. x
