Worth tweeting her if the answer is yes. twitter.com/gabyhinsliff/status/1138815208712003584?s=21

I have spoiled my ballot papers since leaving the Labour Party because of self-ID. I am not on Twitter so cannot let Gaby know. If anyone can pass this to her I would be grateful.

Maybe persuade Gaby to ask her question here on Mumsnet too?

BigotedWoman · 12/06/2019 18:06

Well nearly every reply says yes. Whether GH or the Guardian take that on board is another matter.

nettie434 · 12/06/2019 18:14

Was talking to a colleague halfway through creating same thread - will ask for mine to be deleted

BettyFloop · 12/06/2019 18:15

Same as Jacky here. If that could be passed on to Gaby on Twatter too.

She'd do well to pop in here and ask the same question.

WizbetisaNizbet · 12/06/2019 18:15

Yes. I left the Labour Party and I'm now politically homeless.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 12/06/2019 18:18

Yes. Used to vote Lib Dem or Labour depending where I lived. Now I spoil my ballot. Not on Twitter.

Michelleoftheresistance · 12/06/2019 18:25

Yes. Have intentionally spoiled ballots stating the reason why. Also politically homeless.

VitreousHumour · 12/06/2019 18:28

Yes did mention there were plenty here. But things being what they are, the more heaving her replies the more likely it is she'll do something on it at some stage - hence making it easier for her by asking g you to hop over there ;-)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/06/2019 18:29

As well as no longer voting Greens I am also no longer a member...

CadburysTastesVileNow · 12/06/2019 18:32

Yes (also not on twitter).

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 12/06/2019 18:42

thanks for the heads up. this is certainly me - i'll post on her thread later

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2019 19:01

That twitter thread has A LOT of replies.

Lots and Lots.

DuMondeB · 12/06/2019 19:03

I would’ve voted Green in the EU elections (Remainer) but fuck that.

nonsenceagain · 12/06/2019 19:18

Yes since I left Labour. Also not on Twitter so could someone proxy vote for me please?

plattercake · 12/06/2019 19:24

2 yesses from this household. Also not on Twitter

ScrimshawTheSecond · 12/06/2019 19:25

I've crossed the Green Party off my potential party-to-vote-for list, sadly. And Labour are on a shoogly peg.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 12/06/2019 19:26

I've also crossed Twitter off, so can't communicate that to her!

Manderleyagain · 12/06/2019 19:38

Yes I'm politically homeless. None of them are sensible about this. The parties need to acknowledge there is a conflict of needs, and agree that this should be discussed openly.

TheCuriousMonkey · 12/06/2019 19:52

I'm not on twitter but if I was I would point out that it is not the parties' positions on trans rights that alienate me. I have nothing against trans rights. The problem with the parties' policies is that they are anti women's rights. This is what has left me politically homeless.

I'd also invite Gabby to come over here and read through the many many threads on this topic if she wants further proof that this is a problem.

Happy for anyone to tweet these points on my behalf :-)

ProfYaffle · 12/06/2019 20:00

I'm not prepared to post on Twitter about it but hopefully Gaby reads this thread. Yes, I left the Labour Party because of it, now feel I can't vote Green or Lib Dem because of it. Can't vote Tory because of all the reasons. So who's left? That guy that dresses up as a fishfinger didn't stand in my constituency Sad

severnboring · 12/06/2019 20:09

Yeah me. Ex Labour voter, ex Guardian reader. How can you be a political journalist who doesn't notice the huge scale of a political trend because you've deliberately avoided examining it, it's 'not naice' to mention it and understand it or something?

GreenPartyResignation · 12/06/2019 20:41

I left the GP because of it after being an active member for many years. I also stopped reading the Guardian and I used to be a subscriber.

TheBullshitGoesOn · 12/06/2019 20:49

Me too, but I'm also not on Twitter.

Would normally vote LibDem or Labour. Should have voted Greens in the EU election recently. Am now opting to spoil my ballot paper. It's not just self ID. It is also the way they are throwing away women's rights and ignoring safeguarding.

WarmthAndDepth · 12/06/2019 20:55

Not on Twitter, but yes. Left Labour Party after years of active membership. Also can't bring myself to vote green.

beeyourself · 12/06/2019 21:03

Left party & told them that it was because of their attitude to women (especially self id)
