Gregor Murray (SNP Councillor) - guilty of verbal abuse

Dundee councillor Gregor Murray guilty of breaking rules by swearing at woman on Twitter
www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/fp/dundee-councillor-gregor-murray-guilty-of-breaking-rules-by-swearing-at-woman-on-twitter/
Of particular interest:
"In their judgement the panel said the councillor had also abused the complainer by referring to her as a TERF….a transexclusionary radical feminist.
The panel said: “It was evident that the councillor’s description as TERFS being scum and hateful and vile that he intended it to be a term of abuse.”
Gregor Murray has flounced from the SNP.

I had the most unpleasant experience a couple of months ago. I had to park my car near a shop, in order to pick up a large, purchased item of household furniture. As I jumped out, I accidentally, and momentarily, blocked the path of two young people - one male, one female - for which I immediately apologised. They sneered at me and made negative, aggressive comments under their breath. I called them up on this - for which I received a hounding: " You Cunt; you fucking bitch...." They followed me over towards the shop, abusing and swearing as they went.
I am in my fifties. They were late teens/early twenties. He had blue hair. She was like his best mate. I was shocked at how easily such terms of abuse rolled off their lips - especially given the age difference. Have to say it caused quite a stir in the busy street - and when they realised they quickly backed off.

Standards Commission press release on Gregor Murray

The Panel considered that while the term ‘TERF’ was apt to be controversial and could be seen as one of abuse, it could also be used or perceived as simply a descriptor. The Panel was of the view, however, that it was evident from Councillor Murray’s description, over an extended period of time, of ‘TERFS’ as being ‘scum’ and ‘hateful and vile’, that Councillor Murray intended it to be one of abuse. The Panel further considered that Councillor Murray’s use of it in the context of their reply to the effect that it was deserved, when the complainer had indicated that the use of the term was an expression of abuse, demonstrated that Councillor Murray was aware that the term could reasonably be taken to be offensive. The Panel was further satisfied that Councillor Murray had directed the term at the complainer as an individual and that it was about her as a person, rather than simply being a descriptor of her alleged views.

So this Murray is whining because people got angry at the abuse he dished out? Diddums.
(KatvonHostileExtremist
- the level of narcissism shown when someone expects others to give headspace to whatever pronouns they want that day is mind-boggling, as if they expect people could be that interested in them. It's not like it would be reciprocated)

Their* twitter thread was a great laugh.
And yes Popchyk I also noticed the Dundee Council Leaders excellent statement. Grey rock is exactly what it is, I couldn't really explain it earlier but that's a the perfect description.
Gregor doesn't seem to have many supporters, does Gregor. Can't think why.

"Here's the wee nyaff's Twitter."
'Wee nyaff' - perfect description for this individual. Although we must be careful not to use overtly male terms too. That would be misgendering, which is literal violence as we all know.
The Twitter feed is hilarious with the two purple / magenta-haired friends in the profile pic. What is it with these non-binary folks? One variety (mustn't misgender!) always with beards and another variety (mustn't misgender!) always with purple / blue / rainbow hair. Intriguing.

Shame that Gregory has blocked half the twitterverse - a career in stand-up beckons. One wonders how ze copes in dealing with the unwashed mass who lent their votes.
Also seems to have RT the fragrant pickle bee - you know the one who called Joan trash and made a lot of comments about why punching "terfs" was a legitimate political action. Oh, and, as "a woman" signed Rhiannon's letter.
On which note, I see pickle's BFF piroburgher is having a melt down because the NHS have called a penis "male genitals" when everyone knows that they are frequently attached to women...

That was me that asked about being non-binary on reddit. Called me a TERF twice and then responded to my following questions about sexism with laughing emojis. I'm from the local area as well. Not happy.

Is this a good thread for MNers local to me?
::waves from probably slightly further north::
Those were some pertinent questions on reddit.
I can't believe GM was permitted to carry on as long as GM was tbh. Mortifying.
But then labour seems worse.

Decision of Standards Commission Scotland sanctioning Gregor Murray for breaching the Councillors' Code of Conduct by repeatedly calling a woman a TERF (for objecting to Dundee City Council's conflation of "sex" with "gender")

No, vivarium, I think that was Alyn Smith's partner. Smith was recently elected for Stirling.
