I'm Suspended from Twitter

Gingernaut · 06/05/2019 20:10

and it appears to be permanent.

Not for swearing, violent threats or promoting hatred, but for pointing out to a MtF transgender person that his male entitlement was showing.

I've appealed, but I'm not hopeful.

Ah well, fun's over.

I did need to back off from the crack cocaine of SM anyway.....

Maybe they will have more money to defend themselves

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 06/05/2019 21:22

See the Joanna Cherry video on the recent MN thread. It’s very entertaining to see the Twitter exec squirm. Please do let her know of your banning.

EachDubh · 06/05/2019 21:25

We need an alternative twitter style platform, the only thing that will change companies like twitter is to hit their income. If all gc people left twitter, schools would leave, businesses would leave and twitter would collapse, slowly perhaps, into it's self made murk pile.
Just now twitter does whatever it wants, this includes treating women like a different species, one that is thete for the amusement of males. Until twitter feels the pain of a lack of financial resources they won't change. Time to arrange a mass account deletion day, make sure they can't ignore.
Also would be nice if our governments cared, a few brave souls, unsupported by their parties risk so much to make their voices heard. I'm not sure about this new, brave world we live in, where it's all about self choice, unless your self choice isn't their choice 😳🤪🤯

bettybeans · 06/05/2019 21:37

A few women on my feed have been highlighting that Twitter removes GC women for speaking about fact and material reality and meanwhile openly pro-paedophilia accounts remain despite being reported. It's fucking scandalous.

Apparently it's fine to talk about sexual activity with children but it's not okay to say that a male human being cannot become a female human being, or make references to male violence stats, or call someone by the name they went by 5 minutes ago because now it's misgendering or some such shit.

And they wonder why we're feeling extra defensive about our rights, protections and spaces. Angry

Would a VPN work too?

Yes, but they might demand a phone number if you log out and try to log back in.

lobsterkiller · 06/05/2019 21:50

Ah thanks for clarifying re the VPN.

As a PP said, it's ok to be obsessed with tampons and young girls, it's ok to say to women "die in a grease fire" and it's ok to threaten women with rape and violence.

Just dont state a biological reality.

FannyCann · 06/05/2019 21:55

I also get confused about the IP thing. So if you were logged into WiFi elsewhere - your mum's house, or work for instance then you could set up a new account there? Does it then pick up your banned ip if you are logged in at home? But you could try to remember to log out of your WiFi and use 4g when you go on twitter at your banned IP address?

Gingernaut · 06/05/2019 22:59

This.

I have reported prostitutes openly plying their trade with explicit video clips, open paedophiles, violent threats, racist and sexist accounts and nothing much has happened.

I have supported tweets publicizing the problems of FGM, period poverty and the prospects of girls in countries where these issues affect girls' attendance in school and, therefore, their education and these have been deleted for 'transgressing Twitter rules'.

There is such a double standard, it's unreal.

Twitter is supposed to be a platform, where people have an equal footing and can get their issues heard.

What's happening is disgusting.

I’d think so. It only matters when you’re setting up a new account though. Once you have the new account you can go back to using your old WiFi. A VPN might work but you’d need a very good one that costs money so it’s prob easier to just use your 4G.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 06/05/2019 23:52

I got a permanent ban too for pointing out transwomen can and should use men’s toilets with other men.

AlwaysComingHome · 07/05/2019 00:21

Agree about the pageants but it's all part of the game to sue.

I’ve seen photos of the other competitors on KF. Lots of chokers and polar-necked sweaters or conveniently placed hands at throats.

Frankly TRAs are welcome to pageants. They tie into their 1950s idea of femininity.

CharlieParley · 07/05/2019 00:46

Have been suspended for a few weeks now, didn't deadname, misgender or call anyone a man who didn't wish to be. But did draw attention to the hypocrisy of yet another male denying the existence of the basis of female oppression by his sex class.

Have heard nothing since appealing my suspension. Twitter seems to also ban any reference to the actual sex of males who identify as trans now, even when discussing the oppression of females by males. Should have known that twat would report me (had run out of arguments) but I was still surprised they judged my tweet hateful conduct. My tweet could also have been written in any thread involving your common garden variety misogynist, but the way things are now, I wouldn't be surprised if that got us banned too.

50shadesofgreyrock · 07/05/2019 07:01

I got a couple of shadow bans. A couple of 12 hours. And a 7 day ban for (oh. Actually I can’t tell you. MNHQ deleted me last time and told me I’d be banned from here too). Erm. I told LOJ that a specific man who used to write about wearing make up was way more interesting than the new brave and stunning authorial version. I still don’t really know why the truth is so controversial.
But I’m not giving twitter my fucking mobile number to get doxxed and sacked, so my appeal went nowhere.
My account was zapped just as I started publicizing Morgane Oger’s stalking and harassing software project, doxxing and prosecuting for the purpose of. I’m still pissed. But it’s mildly ironic that if they ban everyone, they won’t have victims to track.

Floisme · 07/05/2019 07:17

You're hardly a nobody Ginger - I still have fond memories of your M&S pink dress thread.

Flowers to everyone who goes out there. I've been wondering whether to give it up (don't tweet myself) but as long as there are still women doing it then I feel the least I can do is follow.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 07/05/2019 07:24

I got banned for saying that if you have a penis then you’re biologically a man.
I always respected people’s preferred pronouns etc. I don’t make nice now.
Not anymore.
Nothing short of complete submission will ever be enough for them.

lobsterkiller · 07/05/2019 07:39

I agree but the issue is that some of these are for the adult human female type women. JY is applying to get knocked back to sue just as JY did on the people who didn't agree to wax them. Pageants are fucking horrible and I cant believe they're still knocking about.

HandsOffMyRights · 07/05/2019 07:40

I've had a 12 hr ban for nothing and a couple of shadow bans.
Every time I log on I expect to be banned.

I can't believe the Sonic Fox account still stands or that McKinnon was reinstated after the greasefire threat - thanks to Riley.

bethy15 · 07/05/2019 07:46

I got banned for saying Ian Huntley is a man. I mean, that is the literal truth FFS.

No way. This is absolutely ridiculous.

It's crazy the amount of real hate speech there is on there, including from the president of the free world, and you saying actual facts has you banned.

I just can't believe it.

nettie434 · 07/05/2019 08:14

I got banned for saying Ian Huntley is a man. I mean, that is the literal truth FFS.

I also read that it was fake news that Ian Huntley wanted to be treated as a woman so that statement should have been fine. Weren’t Debbie Haydn or Fionne (both lovely but can’t remember which) banned for saying they were men biologically?

Gingernaut · 07/05/2019 08:44

I need to find another pink dress. Grin

Yes you do op - I miss the old M&S threads.

Gingernaut · 07/05/2019 08:59

I suppose it's a measure of how sensible their clothes are becoming. Hmm

Behold the Guardian has written about this. Thank you SM, although I would like to have seen some GC examples of Twitters misogyny. I presume she wasn’t allowed any by the woke Guardian.

GassyAss · 07/05/2019 09:15

Click link fail, apologies.

BigFatLiar · 07/05/2019 09:30

Transwomen in mens loos, Transmen in womens loos? Never really got the trans thing, your genes define male/female apart from that its mental & cosmetic surgery.

Unfortunately these days you can't say things that aren't acceptable or your evil. (Same sex relationships, same sex marriages all a bit odd to me)
