No sorry girl, that was a stray 'you'!

GirlDownUnder · 17/04/2019 12:58

😂 no worries, I didn't want to overstate myself Grin

ZebrasAreBras · 17/04/2019 13:00

Miranda Yardley wrote a piece about this person. It's very easily googleable.

The first comment was from said person demanding removal or they'll sue.

Miranda hasn't taken it down though Smile Miranda doesn't scare easily. And everything Miranda has written is true. I think said person just bullies and tries to scare people into removing content.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/04/2019 13:13

woman Grin

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/04/2019 13:23

woman

Mnhq said they probably wont reinstate it as this thread is running

AlwaysComingHome · 17/04/2019 13:48

They've copyrighted all their selfies? Can you do that? They're in the public domain.

How can they copyright images if other people are in the background? Did these school girls sign over their image rights?

OP posts:
Antibles · 17/04/2019 13:57

I believe you have automatic copyright over any image that you take. I'm not sure if legally that means others can't use the image but they should credit you for it. The internet has ridden roughshod over photo copyright of course but it does exist without you having to take action. In various countries including the UK anyway.

JustAnotherWoman · 17/04/2019 15:21

This is all totally insane. I can understand women who have tried to fight backing away when the toll becomes too much but I cannot understand the cheerleaders who don't look at some of the evidence as there's plenty by now.

The original lawsuit has been dropped Sad

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-transgender-locker-room-school-lawsuit-palatine-district-20190415-story.html

Parents abruptly drop lawsuit over transgender student locker room access at suburban school district

No known reason for the parents dropping the case.

A statement from the attorneys who represent transgender students;
"ACLU attorney John Knight said in a statement that District 211 still has long way to go to make school welcoming for all students, including those who are transgender.
“There has never been any harm to non-transgender students from sharing restrooms and locker rooms with students whom they perceive as different,” he said. “The only harm has been to transgender students who have been targeted with fear-mongering and misinformation. Students who are transgender have never been a threat to anyone in this school or elsewhere.”"

Students who are transgender have never been a threat to anyone in this school or elsewhere.”"

What he's actually saying here is this:
“There has never been any harm to female students from sharing restrooms and locker rooms with students who are male,” he said. “The only harm has been to male students who have been targeted with fear-mongering and misinformation. Students who are male have never been a threat to anyone in this school or elsewhere.”"

Totally agree Old Crone
It's another example of being selective about language

Canada is a totally sick country, and I will not be going there any time soon.
I may have a human rights lawyer cousin in Canada who supports all this rubbish.
I wonder what kind of chemicals they are putting in the water.

Datun · 17/04/2019 22:45

Canada is a totally sick country, and I will not be going there any time soon.

Same here. I used to want to go. I can't face it now.

GirlDownUnder · 17/04/2019 22:53

Same re not going near the place now - we (DH) and I turn 50 very close together, Canada was the plan. Not now though. I'd probably get arrested for not ma'aming correctly.

GirlDownUnder · 17/04/2019 22:56

And the person we cannot name is loving the news EnvyAngry

How is this happening?

Herland · 17/04/2019 22:56

Yip - we had seriously considered Canada after Brexit but no more.....although the countries I can go to in good conscience is depleting at an extraordinary rate.

MoleSmokes · 18/04/2019 13:41

@Yabbers your analysis was really helpful re the Illinois "No right to visual privacy" case:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3561704-What-the-Ever-Loving-Fuck-now?msgid=86382519

A later post says the parents have now dropped the case. Where do think that leaves things now? (I am in UK not USA but am mindful how these ideas of what is lawful and/or acceptable spread so dangerously quickly!)

My thought on reading about the case were how could anyone be prosecuted for Voyeurism if there is no expectation of "visual privacy"?

The reaction from JY is annoying but a distraction from the real issue.

@Alwayscominghome I hope this doesn't sound cheeky but having got over the initial "shock horror!" reaction to the vile JY, would you consider asking Mumsnet to change the Title of this thread to make it easier to find and avoid duplicates? I knew this had to be being discussed somewhere on Mumsnet. There are several "What the Fuckity-fuck!" threads at the moment Confused

I’ll ask about changing the title but does anyone have a suggestion?

I deliberately avoided referencing JY in the title as I feared it would be taken down right away.

OP posts:
Datun · 18/04/2019 21:07

I hope the press will be reporting on all the instant bans from twitter for even mentioning this person.

GirlDownUnder · 18/04/2019 23:46

Brilliant news! And not soon enough as JY has said they are working with children now Envy (obvs not envy)

As for the title, makes sense why you didn't ref they who cannot be named (ooo will that change soon??) how about something about it never happens and girls loosing the right to 'visual privacy' ?

S1naidSucks · 18/04/2019 23:48

I love the new name given in reference to ‘he who shall not be named’, Balldemort. 😁

S1naidSucks · 18/04/2019 23:49

Obviously I’m referring to Harry Potter in ‘he who shall not be named’, before I get reported for ‘misgendering’. 😒🙄

NotTerfNorCis · 19/04/2019 06:57

It seems TRA Joss Prior was suspended from Twitter for deadnaming this person.

Prior has spent years hounding feminists and nothing ever happened.

I guess this shows where the power lies.

Datun · 19/04/2019 10:15

What the hell'a going on? How can one person control twitter like that? Especially as the entire world knows all about their 'dealings.'
