Just seen Glinner tweet about this. A bit of common sense prevails.

Good thread by a Transsexual speaking out against the DARVO in statement by Trans Pride Scotland & in support of women's groups they are reversing victim/offender about. Know it is what women have been saying in here/other thread but they surely can't ignore a member of the LGBT community-except they have blocked them Hmm Thanks Debbie Flowers: twitter.com/DebbieHayton/status/1109108859556237314

Saw this on Twitter - significant, perhaps.

They’ve been targeting Debbie for years, for having the nerve to understand biology and reality. I’m pretty sure Debbie’s school was even targeted at one point.

Splitters!

Trans Pride Scotland have now deleted their previous statement (I archived it, link above ;) ) and have released this updated statement:
Last year’s Trans Pride Scotland committee put on an excellent, safe and friendly event in Edinburgh. As the current Trans Pride Scotland volunteer committee, we are determined to ensure this year’s event is also positive, safe and friendly. We have found ourselves on a very steep learning curve regarding how to respond to an unexpected tweet by a performer. The performer has withdrawn from our event, apologised, learned from this and vows to act in a more civil and accepting manner going forward.
Trans Pride Scotland does not believe in trivialising violence. We want all of society and media to be free of harassment and hostility for everyone. Trans Pride Scotland reconfirms our commitment to operating an active safe space policy with zero-tolerance of violence. We are dedicated to ensuring a safe, alcohol-free and family friendly community event on 30th March 2019 focused on positive visibility of trans lives, equality and human rights.

Provoking some interesting comments from the person whose Twitter post about trans alliance I linked above.

abuseofpowercomesasnosurprise · 22/03/2019 22:30

One of the comments in response to the updated statement:

"Whilst I appreciate that it is a difficult position that you have been put in by circumstances outwith your control, I am disappointed with the "zero-tolerance of violence".
By taking this line, we only serve to further entrench the structures of power that have been put in place to oppress us. Violence in itself, as a concept, is subjective, and what constitutes violence will invariably be defined by the rich white cishet men.
This zero-tolerance policy not only marginalises ourselves as the trans community, but it also minimises the voices of people of colour, such as myself.
The event cannot be safe while trans people, especially trans people of colour, walk in fear of the general populace, and the police state."

MhairiV · 22/03/2019 22:48

There's really nothing surprising about Trans Pride Scotland refusing to apologise for their previous stance.

And it gets better. Turns out the person who wrote the original Trans Pride Scotland statement is also the same charmer who said they'd be leading a "defence group" to deal with any TERFs at Trans Pride.

Signatory on councilllor Rhiannon Spear's letter just a few weeks ago. Keeping interesting company there Rhiannon.

Graphista · 23/03/2019 05:19

So it was "tongue in cheek" aka the cry of bullies everywhere "I was only joking"

"Fear of discrimination and harassment" welcome to our world! Daily, often multiple times daily! If they REALLY want to be women they'd better learn to be grow as thick a skin as we've had to! I've an 18 yr old dd with more resilience in her little finger than all of them together!

Threatening to "throat punch" anyone is hardly displaying "a little compassion and understanding" is it?

Given what we already know of the effects of sex hormones on mood even in (for lack of a better term) "normal" people it's hardly surprising really that pumping hormones into a body not used to them or not used to them in such high doses has a potentially harmful effect on the recipients mh. And that's without considering if the trans person had mh issues prior to treatment (which also seems to not be getting assessed) which even if one were to take the stance that transitioning is a perfectly acceptable procedure to undergo is basic bloody healthcare!

I've never seen any decent studies on this (I suspect mainly as the hormonal contraception manufacturers don't want us all realising the harm its doing), yet how often do we see on mn alone women who've had horrific experiences of using hormonal contraception or other sex hormone based treatments damaging their mental health? I've even read threads either by male mners or their partners/spouses/other loved ones on hormonal treatments for various ailments or diagnosed with too low testosterone and then prescribed testosterone and that's messed with their mh.

It's irresponsible from a medical perspective! To just without proper examination of the patient or knowledge of the effects start making major changes to someone's body & mind without proper preparation or monitoring.

But then I'm not surprised on the mh side as its always the poor relation in medical terms.

Debbie comes across to me far more like the trans people I've had the privilege to meet in real life. Debbie "gets it" and also recognises that such actions are actually detrimental to the reputation of reasonable trans people.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 23/03/2019 09:44

So are the painted baseball bats and axes advertised for sale on a US site (don’t google as the ‘models’ will give you nightmares) - all just a gas? Purely decorative? When folx march with them are these just in an ironic sense? Are the T-shirt’s with ‘kill/punch’ etc and the odd fake blood splatter for good measure - all high jinx? The weapon and hate messages on display in the library in San Fran - what was that then, kids’ high spirits?

Stand by your words.

I am disappointed with the "zero-tolerance of violence".
Violence in itself, as a concept, is subjective, and what constitutes violence will invariably be defined by the rich white cishet men.

The first definition of 'violence', which is what is obviously applicable in the contexts of 'throat punches' etc is clear, objective and impartial

'behaviour involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something.'

HorsewithnoBackstop · 23/03/2019 10:31

Does anybody else's brain see white fishnet men?

EcclesThePeacock · 23/03/2019 12:26

Nope, I think that's just you.Grin

Trans Pride Scotland have not removed the original post as someone said above-unless the poster restored it (if was removed & if they are Admin for TPS FB page). I see on the archived Twitter link above, that it was written by: Aradian Nights ✨ 💜 ☂️‏ @PiroBurgher
Aradian Nights ✨ 💜 ☂️ Retweeted Trans Pride Scotland
The TERFs have gotten a wee bit upset with me for writing this hehehe. I love cis tears in the morning.
As everyone can see (on above public link posted by someone else) their name is Ellie Aradia Mulreaney.

I also see Womans Place UK have issued a further statement: womansplaceuk.org/trans-pride-scotland/

I have no idea why my post was deleted. It mentioned mental health issues, but was in no way intended as a slur - I've had such problems myself and speak from experience.

moderations are pretty random here tbh complete their survey about it!

abuseofpowercomesasnosurprise · 23/03/2019 14:04

The person who released the original Trans Pride Scotland statement which justified threats of violence against women and said they were tongue in cheek is autistic, they state this on their Twitter profile. It is not meant as an insult to acknowledge this, but indicative of a pattern that has already been noted by the Tavistock centre themselves gids.nhs.uk/evidence-base. Peyton Rose speaks of their own mental health issues, as mentioned in the Times article and in an interview they did on YouTube.
www.thetimes.co.uk/article/transgender-singer-cancels-gigs-after-calling-for-feminists-to-be-punched-mrgdxp2p0

Countless others I come across making threats to 'punch TERFS' on Twitter indicate in their bio that they have mental health issues or are autistic. This is a statement of fact not a slur, I have great empathy for those with mental health problems having suffered from them repeatedly myself. We shouldn't be censored for noticing this, or for considering how affirming people in their identities without question may be doing more harm than good, by excusing harmful behaviour (such as inciting violence) and not getting to root causes of distress. The rates of autism prevalence reported by the Tavistock centre are well-known, and the problems with the affirmative approach have caused a former governor to resign. www.bbc.com/news/health-47359692

We also know that Trans activist groups have targeted children's charities as part of their strategy to promote a warm and fuzzy image of transgender rights. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3398737-We-re-Still-Here-Conference-8th-September-A-report-from-the-inside

I'm not sure why stating these facts widely available in the mainstream press is considered worthy of censorship on Mumsnet.

Hmmm that is interesting, as someone was def rude about autism to me today and I was deleted for saying F off, and their comment stands. I think they get it wrong a lot but hey ho, nothing is perfect.

abuseofpowercomesasnosurprise · 23/03/2019 14:15

JessicaWakefieldSVH probably a knee-jerk response, they might have thought I was associating violence with MH or autism because the people mentioned have threatened violence, but that wasn't my intention.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 23/03/2019 14:20

yeah, they have a busy job here and sometimes it happens...

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 23/03/2019 14:22

tbf to them, and I am not always, MNHQ just did me a massive favour so I think they try and you know, hit and miss and all that. I was a FB admin and it was hell!

Orwellianmince · 23/03/2019 15:03

I saw James Morton's comments (in above screenshot)-I see EAM states (on Linkedin) they are currently: "Sessional Policy Officer at Scottish Trans Alliance" -this is managed by JM & funded by Scottish Government.

AstonishedFemalePersonator · 23/03/2019 17:22

Autism is not a mental health condition and conflating the two is not helpful. Nor is linking autism and violence.
