Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

This debate needs...violence, says Lib Dem candidate

So sarah brown (erstwhile Cambridge councillor, introducer of non-EA2010 compliant policy on "gender", and active member of the LGBT+ Lib dems) thinks of the debate with feminists who don't support trans women:

Violence worked for the suffragettes"
"When you have a mere philosophical disagreement then violence is not appropriate, however these people are, at a aminimum, trying to eradicate us from the public realm"
"The gloves are off"

Worth noting that sarah frequently says that "t**fs" want her and other transwomen dead and want to eliminate them from the public realm.

I find this genuinely chilling. All heat, no light.

Very important skill for local politics, the ol' sadface

Vixxxy · 14/02/2019 14:24

you can't expect us not to defend ourselves from people who want us dead

Hmm

How on earth do so many of them see us thinking sex is relevant in some areas..mean we want them dead? Its just a stupid way of arguing..

The Freedom Programme and Lundy Bancroft provide a useful understanding for how threats of violence are both made and justified by some males.

If you report it to the Lib Dems, I imagine they'll just deny responsibility like they do for the LGBT account, they say it's not an official part of the party so they can't do anything.

That's a ludicrous response to complaints about the LGBT account. Either the account is run by someone in the LibDems, in which case, of course they are responsible. Or it's run by someone not in the LibDems, in which case the LibDems should stop them using the LibDem name and dragging the LibDem reputation through the mud.

If you stop fighting me I won't have to hurt you.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 14/02/2019 14:30

^^ said by no women ever.

A much used phrase by plenty of men though. Men who hate women and want to commit violence against them while "justifying" themselves.

Ereshkigal · 14/02/2019 14:32

Because the only way they can begin to justify violence against women is to frame "literal violence" as just as bad.

Ereshkigal · 14/02/2019 14:35

I hope Sarah hasn't been receiving harassment.

I'd imagine their definition of "harassment" covers "pointing out incitement to violence against women".

Pink News reporting the false allegation that MN members were 'backing new section 28' ('source' MN intern Emma Healy's claim)
(extract)
"Mumsnet was criticised by the LGBT+ Liberal Democrats, which branded the calls for the reinstatement of Section 28 “utterly horrifying.”

The group said: “It’s clear that Mumsnet Towers has an URGENT need to clean up their act. Calls for a new Section 28, suggesting teachers out kids to their parents, attacks on LGBT charities. It’s left to fester under moderation that seems to turn a blind eye at best.

“We think calls for US Republican style infiltration of school boards, removal of LGBT+ topics from SRE, outing of vulnerable kids to phobic parents is definitely in the public interest and extremely alarming.” (continues)

hackmum I absolutely agree with you but when I complained a while back, that was their stance.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 14/02/2019 17:02

Organisations really ought to stop people saying unhinged stuff on their watch.

Violence is never the answer.
