This is a bizarre thread. Why has Venice Allan resurrected a 6 month old thread in such an aggressive manner?

It is not possible to register an account using a name which already exists so, assuming the member VeniceAllan is really Venice Allan, unless someone has hacked into VA's account , this will be VA.

Can Venice clarify what this is about? I'm pretty confused as to what Venice is accusing Rosa of, or what evidence she has for the accusation, if she is indeed making one.

Sticking your head above the parapet and speaking out takes real courage, on this or on other subjects. I generally admire strong people, though do not expect to like many of them. I also do not expect to agree with them on everything. I am therefore not surprised when strong characters appear not to get along. I suspect some will not be easy to work with.

However I absolutely defend their right to free speech. My own 'peak trans' was the Linda and Venice court case. I am miles away from either politically but wanted to support, both physically outside court, and financially.

I have continued to donate to a variety of fundraisers, and have been saddened by attacks on Harry, Posie, Jean, Caro and more. Our numbers and diversity is what gives us strength. We are all concerned about safeguarding of women and children. I am greatful for those that have stood up to be counted, even if some might be considered "bloody difficult women". Nice is not going to get women heard.

The Venice post was weird, and my instinct is that she has been hacked. I have only met Venice briefly but my impression is that if she had a beef with someone, she would be clear what that beef is.

I also dont expect people to agree on tactics. I think Posie et al did the right thing using the Heritage Foundation platform. Others didn't. So what. They can do things differently. I think Rosa was magnificent addressing the Scottish parliamentary committee on the census and statistics, and this will have made a real contribution to the SNP reviewing their reform proposals. Even if I don't agree with everything, she deserves huge credit for being an academic who, at undoubted personal cost, was ready to stand up and be counted.

I have no idea what is going on, but it feels as if each and every thread on this forum is being disrupted at the moment. Perhaps 'Venice' could come back and explain what this is all about, and why despite Rosa's longstanding contribution she should be slagged off.

Otherwise I will assume it is some sort of hack, in line with those seemingly male voices who keep popping up to tell us we are wrong, just because they say so.

Venice’s attack on Jean Hatchett was on Facebook- it was definitely her. She accused Jean of lying about having cancer because apparently nobody does a bike ride 2 weeks after having a hysterectomy. She is vile.

Why are PP and Caroline Bloody Farrow being described as part of the movement or GC? Caroline is a homophobe who supports traditional gender roles- she just wants to keep them for the designated sex. See her horrible comments about same sex families on twitter. PP seems to be morphing into Katie Hopkins with her rants about how much she hates trans people and how unattractive and freaky they all are. This shit just keeps smearing the GC movement and is helping nobody. What politician is legit going to associate themselves with that? Whereas moderate views have much more political appeal. It’s not about ‘peak transing the nation’ throughly shock tactics because even if you did, the majority of people don’t care enough about women’s rights to do anything about it. It’s about persuading those in power to approach this thing in a balanced way. That’s not going to be done if they associate the movement with people like PP and VA.

some people don't want this to end I feel on both sides it gives them a purpose or they are notable or respected because of it, or they are making money from it. what would happen if people just talked and found solutions all this would fade back to how it was.

Pota, to be honest someone who goes around calling other people vile, homophobes etc is not my kind of person.

There is something very awry with a culture that immediately pounces upon people who they disagree with, and sees this as a justification to insult them. Just look at good women being called terf or homophobe on a daily basis.

The only way out is proper debate, and a bit of respect. Its fine to disagree or dislike someone. But name calling and similar lazy responses need to be dropped. Not just on this subject but on Brexit, and a whole host of others.

There is no money in being GC. Compare likely income to those delivering 'diversity' training and advice. You dont seem to be complaining about the Edward Lords, Pips Bunce's or Meg-John Barkers who must all be earning good sums from delivering speeches, advice and training. If people want to discuss who is really making money from the trans agenda, there are a few candidates out there. Unscrupulous private doctors and surgeons worldwide are undoubtedly making money from this, as are pharmaceutical companies - what could be better for such people than ever-growing numbers of lifelong medical patients with a need for multiple surgeries?

In the UK, when the criminal GP Helen Webberley was fined £12,000 and her illegal clinic was fined a further £2,000, it seemed to have little effect. Obviously her criminal activities are fairly lucrative since this little slap on the wrist, along with her suspension by the GMC, didn't stop her from continuing with her illegal practice with her husband at the helm until he, too was suspended. She continues even now, having moved her business overseas.

I think Venice's personal animus against Rosa began when Rosa criticised Posie for talking to right-wing groups in the US. I might be wrong. And obviously she is not happy about Rosa's alliances with a couple of TRAs.

I realise that in this movement there are a lot of people who are angry with other people but I don't think it does us any good to air those grievances in public, whether on Twitter, Mumsnet or FB.
